Are some parts departments deliberately unhelpful?
Sean_Jaymo replied to timthetinyhorse's topic in General Car Chat
VW Lincoln (Lookers) were terrible when I tried them the other week. So much so that I sent off a complaint, something I never normally do! -
I think BMW's generic offset is about 18 I think.

I've found in the past that the custom mix Halfords stuff is good. I've not tried it with corrado paint but it was spot on with my mk4. Halfords don't do Aqua Blue off the shelf as standard, at least none of the branches around me! I think I need a body shop for the state mines in!

Leave it on my driveway if you want, I'll make sure it doesn't leave!

I have read back the thread and not sure what you are trying to get me to see? The £400 thing is when they realised that they had sold after I looked at them. They weren't aware that they had sold on eBay when I had arrived to look at them but when I said I'd take them, they then saw on their system that they had sold. They then said if I wanted them then I could gazump you in effect and have them for £400.

Nice one! Look forward to them! -
Great cars, I had a GT Tdi many moons ago. Great around car but had a habit of eating rear axle bushes and break light switches oddly! A Classic car for the future for sure that looks still quite fresh for its age! I'm sure you've read all of the horror stories of timing chains?

No slating at all, just giving my opinion that they're not as cheap as they seem. The shop was willing to sell them to me for £400 but when I had seen they were sold to a guy in St Andrews, I had a feeling that someone off here had bought them as I knew that a member lived there from another post on here. Feckin typical! Enjoy them!

Fair, nothing special. Perfect for a refurb as nothing too serious wrong. 4 different ditch finders tho. I would have bought them for that price having seen them.
-
I went down earlier to look as I was passing. They were there when I left and sold 10 mins later. Quite annoying when that happens! They've gone to someone in St Andrews.

I know someone selling a decent 12v lump...!

I bought a full Bora 4motion to break. Bonus being I got EVERYTHING I wanted or might need and sold the rest for profit. FULL car minus interior seats for £400 from which I got my bits and broke the rest for £1200 so £800 profit and free parts. Extra cash pays for conversion and tarting up of the car. Ok so it's not an R32 but a good start!

Mk3 Corrado? Did I miss one? Looks good to me as a modern rado, especially on the r line alloys. I personally don't think there'll be another Rado as the original was such a flop for vw. There isn't much in VW's history that even mentions it. I remember being in Wolfsburg a few years ago and nothing was mentioned at all in the factory museum and only 2 cars in the unofficial museum with half a side of A4 written about the car. There was loads written about some amphibious thing though!

I thinks it's genuine as it says for indication purposes only, as in the pictures are vague on close up details, so don't be surprised if you find more scratches. It also says that it shows close ups of the scratches and kerb marks of the wheel. Fairly cheap, but then they are a bit expensive if you factor in a good quality refurb at circa £300 and £40 plus per centre cap. Looking at approx £700 plus another £120 per tyre for a decent conti tyre or other non ditch finder rated tyre for a £700 set of alloys with decent tyres on them already.

Cheers mate, I'm in the process of sorting my wiring out now so trying to clear up any loose ends now!

Can somebody post up a picture of how they mounted their Aux water pump? I have an AUE engine and can't figure where to mount it as there is a coil pack in the way and I have limited amount of loom available to me without unwrapping it a lot further. I am going straight from an OBD 1 setup to 24v. I guess AUE is the equivalent of OBD 1 in 24v circles! Also, do people use the 24v waterpump and have it controlled by the ECU or do they use the 12v pump which I believe to be controlled from the sensors in the stat housing?

Unfortunately, the receipt is vague on what exact parts were fitted/Changed but it does say Full rebuild, including piston rings and head. The new suspension components listed are shock absorbers from what I can work out going over the car. It still has OEM springs, so I'm sure the suspension part of the £2200 parts list is relatively small. I hope that clears things up for anyone interested. -
Do you have any photos?
