Yes the subframes from G60's and 16V's are full interchangeable.

When the crank case seal is faulty then the oil loss would be engine oil. Gearbox oil would not be lost with this fault. Gear oil is most commonly lost on the 02A from the driveshaft oil seals. The input shaft seal can give trouble but this is normally diagnosed after the clutch is found to be slipping, in this case due to oil contamination.

Pleasure Bud. Now you can complete your front frame build I hope, which is looking very tidy.
-
Rear = inner for my clarity only, if I'm understanding you correctly then the area of the ARB where these bushes locate is reduced diameter from new. So add a bit of wear then yes the measurement will be correct.
-
Are you using a vernier calliper to measure this?
-
The ARB measurements typically provided refer to the diameter of the rod from which it is made. The usual reason for not being able to concur with the measurement given will be paint, corrosion or both changing the reading.
-
Yes, I recently purchased 6 cans for my Corrado of Inca Blue. To help you get what you require it's best to order with your paint code. Both TPS and Dealer should be able to find this against your reg / Chassis no.
-
Dealer or TPS should be able to supply

Fair play, no criticism in the question. I'm sure your mechanic is entirely competent. Only asked as we have had many folks see new brakes fitted, through the wheels, and assume all is in good working order, only to find later that the seized slider pins had been overlooked. I wish you well finding the answer to your mpg quest.
-
Was this a visual check of the brakes or wheels of hands on full inspection? Pistons and slider pins are prone to seizure on Corrado, in particular on the rear.

The two issues you have are almost certainly one and the same fault. Fuel leak most likely to be in either the flow or return rubber hoses, as said previously, which are seen attached to the drivers side of the cylinder head. A fuel leak such as you suggest will significantly reduce fuel pressure to the injectors therefore causing starting and running issues. Do not drive this car until the fault is fixed or you will suffer the same fate as another on this forum recently.

To find worn but still serviceable component faults clearly Vagcom in pure scan mode is not the tool for the job. Parts suspected of wear reducing efficiency will require to be check on a scope to reveal any short fall.

The trouble with the MFA in respect to mpg readings,is we are all to keen to believe what it says. It comes, I'm sure,of our culture having us peering into screens for hours in hope of the answers we seek. One of our customers was convinced his G60 was returning 62 mpg, purely based on the fact that the MFA said so. I sent him away with a note pad and pen and instruction to record fuel purchased and mileage covered. Two weeks later he saw the light :)

Mmmmm, jury is out on this one. I've of let my thoughts wander into the issue of fitting DRL's onto Corrado but never been able see how it could ever blend with our cars. It just seems to be a wrong move and not in keeping with the Corrado styling and era. However, I'm open minded always on the issue of modification, and just because I can't work it out it doesn't mean it can't be made to work out?
-
Totally agree. Before fitting the engine take the opportunity to get everything in good order.
-
40 - 42 mpg ! Is that with a sail out of the sunroof :).
-
If the tensioner has been replaced with the rebuild to which you refer, and you know this to be fact, and you have inspected the part and know it to be A1, then in theory it should be good to go. However, with the engine out it will never be any easier to carry out works. It's your car, you will be doing the work and you are paying the bills. If you would rest easier having changed this component then this is reason in itself to do so.

I would be surprised to see anything conclusive come from a Vagcom scan regards this issue. As others have said the VR6 is not renowned for the kindest MPG ratings, and an auto box certainly won't be helping your situation. I sometimes wonder if an in flight refuelling nozzle should have been factory specification :). If your only issue is MPG and all other aspects of the engine and transmission are in keeping with the legendary smooth VR6 delivery, then I would try to improve the MPG by looking to engine efficiency improvements. Your Corrado is a little older these days and will no doubt have engine management and control related components which are past their best. Wear of this nature will not show in a fault scan, as none exists in diagnostic terms. A thorough service and renewal of worn components is more likely to see the results you seek. By all means use Vagcom to check, but more involved diagnostics will highlight under performing MAF, temp, and oxygen sensors. Good luck in your quest, as in keeping with others I feel you should be getting slightly better returns on fuel consumption.

Which gauge set are you looking for? The early Corrado had the option of a pair of individual VDO gauges set into a panel. Whilst the later 1992 model year on Corrado had the option of a VDO all in one two gauge unit. I have a set of the early type separate gauges that I no longer require in my Corrado having fitted the Zeitronix ZT-2. Any good for you?

Another vote for GoPro. Have mine on the Corrado screen and it's brill.

So sorry to see what has become of your Corrado. Words don't work at this time, as no one can say anything to reconcile the loss. What is important at these times however, is the outpouring of support and empathy. Sadly I too have had to watch two of my cars lost to me this way, my 1969 Cooper S, and my A4 Quattro. I know something of how you feel right now, and hope you will draw all the good from those here on this Forum to ease some of the anguish. Very best to you fella. -
Hi Jamie, Welcome to the Forum. Must commend your model choice :) that's guaranteed to light the touch paper. Clearly your mo stranger to the VW range, and feel sure your 4k budget should buy you a good G60. If you require any help with detail along the way, I and others on here will before than happy to help with the info you require. Happy hunting.
-
Thanks for your continued interest, I will look forward to discussing your requirements.

Blasphemy :)

Thank you guys for the recommendation, much appreciated. We are always happy to discuss all aspects of Corrado tuning and maintenance. You have seen our website and no doubt the pics illustrating our G Lader rebuild and porting works. We look forward to hearing from you. Regards, John JMR Ltd
