  1. Going with the hipothetical lawnmower...... if you damaged your own, you may well think...' bah, only the lawnmower' but...what if i damaged your lawnmower?
  2. oh no you're not m8 :-P   ......given the choice between borbets or BBS........i would go BBS everytime 8) .....don't get me wrong the Borbets are nice enough but IMHO not nearly as nice as a set of BBS split-rims 8) i agree! BBS splits vs anything else really, BBS win! But......... BBS splits vs bank account..... BBS also win! Other wheel vs bank account......the bank account has a chance!!!
  3. It must be really annoying..... but maybe you should count your blessings, some cant get their cars to start

    Noisy brakes

lol.....i once put a pad in back to front!! it was a bit scratchy!
  5. I washed the car on Sunday, leave it parkedjust down the street from the flat, didnt use it yesterday. When I go to it today, I have a a finger print size scratch from someones door on the rear quarter, along with a dent, right on the ridge half way up. Is there something wrong with me? I NEVER seem to feel the urge to damage other peoples property. Is this wrong?? And if I did ever accidently do it, i would have the COMMON COURTESY to admit to it. Do I need to buy two other cars to park either side of the Raddo to protect its sides???? Hunt for house with garage - STATUS: ON.
  6. I take it these are brake discs?? I run Zimmerman X drilled and pagid fast road pads. Are you coming up to Knockhill a look next Thursday?
  7. just incase you are interested......it seem that tarox do a 10 pot caliper and disc set, that will only fit under 17s!! that would be silly!!!
  8. I already have em, and damn hard springs....take a look at my spec, I am not afraid of a little vibration now and then..... Solid top mounts is about the only bush that i have never uprated to on any of my cars, past or present. I have to agree with you about the mk1.... the rocco valver i have, gives me a sore head to drive around town..... but it was never intended for that purpose...thats thats like complaining about an umbrella not keeping me warm!! There is driving fast on a road, and driving as hard as you can on the track - two very different things. I 'try' not to drive fast on public roads, and keep it to the track...... There are (hopefully) less idiots coming the other way!!!! So a car set up on the harder side of things is better for me (which was exactly you point kev!)
  9. PhatVR6, is the rumours about unbearable virations etc, the usual BS about uprated stuff?
  10. i ran standard the time i was on with joe as well, I have not noticed any wear issues. PhatVR6, I would be interested to here how your solid top mounts stop un-even tyre wear, i cant think how they will have an effect on that (thats may sound sarcasrtic - its not meant to be! - genuine question) - Joe they wont affect camber (unless they are adjusted after the camber bolts are set) only the king pin inclination angle. Things i did before running on the track: turned my struts up quite high emptied ALL shite from the car, only my jacket was in the boot. checked oil levels and water levels before I went checked everything was tight Also once you are on the track, I found that sinse its not a race, that the difference on the temps between totally ragging it to the red line, and changing maybe 700 - 1000 rpm early made a huge difference, the first session a went hell for leather, and saw oil temps up to nearly 130, once i noticed that changing early didnt make a big difference in speed, only 5 or 10 mph at the end of the straights, i never went over 120.
  11. do you plan to restore it o break it?
  12. http://www.bruntingthorpe.com/motor_industry_proving.htm# that airport fire engine thats being taken for a test flight looks mental.........would have been cool to see
  13. If u try to go to ur local motorway/kwikfit/budget in the evening when the boss is out, u can usually slip a chav £10 and he will literally do it in 10 mins..... I have fitted exhausts myself, but unless theere are about 6 people under the car...you cant lift, squeeze and twist the exhaust enough for all the rubbers to go on nicely! If u try and u suceed....then u saved money....if u try and you fail....then u drive (a rather noisey car) round to the exhaust shop and part with your tenner. Good Luck
  14. Yeah that was actually one of my biggest jaw dropping moments in corrado ownership......beaten only by the tie rods and ends. There is probably more that has made me weep, but as I have been into (old broken) VW's for a while I am starting to know whats coming.....
  15. On my golf, i threw new discs on in a hurry one day, and off i went, for the first while i was braking gently so I didnt notice the vibration, but once i got back to my normal self i found the brakes were awfully shuudery. Turns out at a previous disc change the head had been drilled off of the grub screw, and it wasnt quite flush with the bell, and i had not lined the grub screw whole up properly, so the discs was sitting squint....20 minutes later.....all was well.
  16. change of change of plan?? Golf looking good mate.... u stll considering a trip up to sconnie botland for the Scottish Club GTi track day? Should open afew eyes of the know alls up here!
  17. missed it........................... AGAIN
  18. Hi I have just discovered Armor All wipes recently (Inters Weekend), and although they are available at Halfords for about £4 per unit, Costco sell a pack containing: 1x Leather Wipes 1x Upholstry Wipes 1x Glass Wipes 1x Interiror and Exterior Trim Wipe 1x Car Shampoo/wax Wipes The pack price is about £10 i think. All I was going to offer is that, being a memeber of Costco, I can pick up a pack for you and either give it to you in person at coming events...Track Night or Biggar show, (or anything else I am going to), or I can post it to you. All I ask is that you cover my costs. (ie postage if I send it to you). - feel free to add afew pound donation to the Andrew petrol money assoc. 8) I thought they were really good to take to the show, as you can clean your car prior, and then give it a quick wipe when you get there. The shampo/wax wipes lift tar and bug smears. PM or post here if you want to take me up on the offer.
  19. That was quicker than I though.... for each side.... 1x Link 191411315A £26.71 2x Bearring (rubber bushes) 6N0411329 £1.07 2x Shim 861411331 £0.86 1x Nut N90635001 £0.82 These are VAG prices excluding VAT hope this helps....
  20. yes they are easy, and yes i have the price...and the part number..... I just have to find the reciept!!! could be 2 mins...could be 2 days!! will do my best!!
  21. so whish is the difference between vr caliper carriers/calipers/discs and g60?? (appart from that which i know.....wheel bolts, banjo bolt at end of vr's flexi )
  22. thought thats whats on already??? Things to do on crap brake systems.... check condition of calipers - Seals ok? sticky? Check condition of flexi hoses - are they splitting or showing signs of having been balooning? Check condition of rear brake bias adjuster - usually they are seized to hell and can be leaving your have your rear brakes doing much less work than they could cope with Check the handbrake - is it so stiff its sticking on, overheating your rears, taking their temp above the operating temp for the pads. How good is the fluid? DOT 5.1, nice and fresh fluid......no air in the system...apparently you need to bleed abs systems with the ignition on for best results. how good is the vacuum hose for the servo assistance - leaks will make the brake pedal much harder, with less bite. If all these are in good condition, and you are still not happy, then replacing the OEM items with 'uprated' items is an option.....what u upgrade to is up to you.... and every one has their *own* opinion on what is *best*........ I have pagid fast road pads and zimmerman x drilled discs all 4 corners........really good on the road...but fade after about 10-12 minutes on the track. HTH

    door hinge pins

yes...that will sort it out...... i need to do mine too...and the passenger side aswell!!
  24. it is unlinkey the strut towers woud be moved without making the front chassis legs more than a little squint... try to see if they are parralel or if they look twisted. My bet is the wishbone is knackered.
