  1. I am thinking about getting some Winter tyres fitted at the end of the month. I was wondering whether anybody can make me a recommendation? I have standard Corrado size Speedlines/BBS Storm wheels, looking for purely excellent winter performance at the cheapest price possible?!..anyone recommend a tyre and source? Many thanks
  2. Where's the best place to get a BMC? How easy is it to fit?
  3. Like....well, the second part anyway!...the loud pedal never fails to make me smile, whatever my mood
  4. I like them just the way they are. I just want a brand new example !!.. ..However, if VW had facelifted the C rather than binning it, then...body coloured grille, door handles and side rubbing strips, clear side/rear indicators and 16 inch BBS alloys with a lowered sport suspension option. Interior wise a climatronic air-con unit fitted as standard and integral cup holders, with Uprated wipers and headlight loom. Leather interior as standard, oh and a bonnet with struts that holds itself up. Finishing touch of blue tinted anti dazzle wing mirrors with an anti dazzle interior mirror too...also make the spoiler come up at 25mph, just for the hell of it!!!! Would then be my perfect ever motor even more...being greedy a panoramic glass sunroof like the new Scirocco!..
  5. Classic, but yeah I meant the gears. I seem to remember they also offered some sequential rubbish, but maybe that wasnt on the top engine?!..and definitely get the Haynes books etc!.. ..and yeah, the comparative MR2 will be more, also has absoloutely no boot space. A mate of mine got a great deal on one from his sister, but seems to always have his Gfs high heels etc in passenger footwell..not a good look!..cracking drive though
  6. My brother had the 160, he loved it. Got it at 11k miles and it was light, fun, great sensation of speed, nice and revy..but the head gasket went at around 19k!!...head issues are the major weakness, even when it has been done. Make sure it's had it done at a MG/Rover dealer specialist I would say. Great cheap little roadster though, vastly underrated in my opinion..make sure you get the manual?. ..though if it was my money I would probably save another couple of months and get a comparable MR2 (if you don't need ANY luggage space!) or the ubiquitous MX5
  7. I am tentatively looking for the above Induction Kit. If anyone would sell me one then please get in contact. I believe the above part is the correct fitment? Ideally looking for the cold air fed kit? Cheers
  8. Never get tired of looking at photos of other peoples Corrados..well done with it, lovely original looking car. Regards the steering wheel wear, the only part of my car that looks tired and worn is the top part of my original 3 spoke wheel. Everything else works and looks immaculate, but the wheel looks like its been to the moon and back!!! Car has quite low miles (119k) FSH and fastidious previous owners, yet it's still **** poor (all dull and grey looking)!..must commit to a wheel refurb, post up if you go this way and how you do it/ who does it?!..
  9. N100*** black VR6 on Banstead High Street in Surrey around 3pm today. I was in my VR6 with the MTBs on the roof going in opposite direction, not sure if you clocked me
  10. I currently own a 1996 Moonlight Blue VR6 Auto, registration N866XSS. This was registered in Aberdeenshire, and spent most of its life around there and Edinburgh till I got hold of it a few months ago. Previous owner used to write the occasional article for Sprinter, and when I got it was all Stickered up with CCGB, and 20th anniversary. My car is standard looking and in amazingly good condition with absoloutely everything working. Currently up for sale on here, though reading your article makes me want to keep it and go down a similar road with it!..
  11. I think that I have managed it. I wanted to try the easy ways before resorting to messing about with delicate clips etc..I used Vaseline and a BBQ skewer and think I have cracked it. Smeared a healthy/liberal amount of Vaseline around the aerial base and roof, then eased the gasket down with fingers, whilst simultaneously going round the edges with the skewer forcing it over the lip. It took a while but it seems snug and like it won't be coming off any time soon.
  12. Corrado practical enough for kids. Invest in some roofbars and a roofbox for those times when you need the extra storage. (Though you would probs have to remove the aerial and listen to CDs. Music is definitely the compromise I would make rather than the car!)..Easy to get them off when you want to go for a solo blast. I have roofbars on mine for MTB and summer camping trip for 2 weeks was easily doable...the most practical all year Coupe I have ever been in. Significantly better than all the 3 series I have owned.... ..or even a Towbar for a small trailer is preferable to driving a bloody people carrier/MVP type blob!..
  13. Thanks, I will probs end up doing that..I just wanted a lazy mans way out!.. Part number is 1ho051753.....it comes with a rubber ring and a bolt too. I think the chap said there were only a couple left in central stock which is another reason why I don't wana break it!..
  14. At the local VW Dealer today, Drift Bridge in Epsom, to pick up a replacement Aerial Gasket. The chap in the parts department commented on the car saying that they always know its me coming in when someone orders a Corrado part and that my car is a really lovely Corrado. I was thinking to myself 'yeah, but the bonnets got stone chips that need doing and there's a bit of rust on front wheelarch'..but I then took a step back and agreed with him. Everything on the car works and it runs faultlessly every day..I am happy with my Corrado today!..
  15. Just picked up a replacement Aerial Gasket for the Corrado as the original one came away as I was cleaning it the other day. I was wondering if anyone has a 'top tip' for fitting it without removing half the inside of the car. I have just tried to pop it over the aerial from the outside and my big thumbs have had no joy forcing it home. It cost me £16.50 so don't want to risk snapping it through trial and error!..any ideas, washing up liquid?..Vaseline?..tools?.. Any advice from anybody that's actually done it would be much appreciated folks..
  16. Picked up a classic Range Rover Softdash off eBay a few years ago. It was almost factory fresh and when giving it a good clean found 2 shotgun cartridges hidden inside amongst other less interesting bits and pieces. I suppose the shotgun rack in the boot should have given me a clue...I miss that old V8 beast
  17. I use that stuff in mine, it is very good. Once a week give a subtle spray of Autoglym Autofresh too, on carpets and boot area..keeps it fresh as a daisy
  18. I usually buy my Corrado mats from Veedubmachine. Recently I was at my local VAG dealer picking up something and enquirer about Mats. Surprised to hear they could still order them, so I bought a set. The 'Corrado' script is indeed in a different place (offset to the outer edge, rather than central). The mats are, of course, good quality but I will go back to using Veedubmachine for the next set...#onlycorradobrandedmatsinmycorrado
  19. The OEM roofbars going for as little as £30?!..I recently paid £165 for my OEM Votex Aero bars (as new in box with original receipt, keys and fitting tool). Before this the last set I saw on eBay ( and lost out on) sold for £170!
  20. Your Storm is looking really nice. Love the unusual plate and the interior/dash work you are doing. I had a C with beige interior/leather and it always looked so grubby. Never quite got round to sorting it. Will keep an eye out for you in the Croydon/ Purley area. Me and my VR6 live in Carshalton Beeches/ Woodmansterne area
  21. That is my dream garage!..an Oak Green Rado and a Porker 993. I think both cars share a DNA/design ethos, and if Porsche had done a front engined front wheel drive car it would have been the Corrado. I really want a 993
  22. glad to hear you are keeping it original. Helios Blue is my second favourite colour on the Mk2 Golf behind Oak Green. I would love to see an Oak Green Corrado, but as others have said it would be an unfeasibly large and costly job
