  1. dr-mat - very true I guess they are about 2 feet closer than in a normal VR, plus there are two. I am well chuffed with the MPG of the 24v so far. I have gained 5BHP and a bucket of torque over my 200BHP G60 and I get 10MPG better ecomony!! Cool! Jay
  2. I know I know, it was one of those jobs where the car was basically ready to roll and I thought, sod it it will be OK! My mistake and thats exactly why I don't do that sort of thing normally! Yep 4 of the bu99ers and all the connectors and wiring that go with them!, plus the 2 CATs themselves! Would be an expensive exercise if they all went, although if I de-cat it in the future I effectively have 2 spare Lambda probes! :) Jay
  3. There are 4 Lambdas on the 24v but the second pair are for telling you if one of the CATs is knackered. The first two are on the down pipes so not that close to the cylinders. Spent last weekend mounting all the Lambda connectors up in a little plastic box under the car that the MK4 uses. Initally I thought I would be OK just strapping them up under the car without it, untill they rubbed on the tarmac and I got a string of error lights!! :) It was the one thing I didn't do exactly as it is in the MK4 and I should have done it right in the first place! After lots of rewiring and making a proper factory like strap to hold the box thingy up its all good now and looks like it should be there. Jay
  4. @ a constant 70MPH I am getting 38/40MPG so it sounds about right. I guess its a little more efficient as its 24v. Its even better with the Cruise control on! :) Just curious really. Jay
  5. Just wondering what MPG a 12v VR with just over 200BHP gets.... I have been driving the 24v for a few weeks now and over all sorts of journeys and driving I seem to get a fairly consistent 35MPG. Obviously that does not include really having some, but just general day to day enthusiatic driving. Just curious really as to how that compares to a 12v VR6 with mods to get it to around the same power? (204BHP) Ta for now. Jay
  6. I will give the FWD (with Quaife diff) a chance while I am getting everything spot on, then once I want to up the power (read Turbo) I will get the 4WD in there. Not for a while though. I am blown away by how good the diff is so far and think its probably one of the best mods I have ever done to a car. Allows you to leave some serious manchinery behind, just because you have the drive out of the bends so early!! Update: Started the modification of the doorcards this week, so that they fit nicely round the TT dash. Will post piccies up of the work in progress tonight. Just worried about having time to get them trimmed before ED38.... Jay
  7. My mate richards Rado had them, he has sold it now though... so we will let you have that one. :)
  8. As you refine it I am sure you will get happier with it. You have done a lot at once so its always going to be a long process. I still have the Rado rad and fans too, just so it all fits properly but all the pipework is MK4 so it all fits in the right places and the header tank is on the right side for the wiring loom etc.. Things like the wiring loom, ABS and Air-con are all MK4 so they are the best they can be with the most features possible. who said it will be FWD :)
  9. Cheers Paul, So far I am totally and utterly happy with it. I am still working on the rest of the car so I am yet to fully appreciate it all as I have not had a complete interior in yet etc.. but generally because I made sure everything was as close to the MK4 as I could make it, its all working lovely and was definately 100% worth it, just for the sound if nothing else. My mate said it sounds like an M3 CSL going down the road! :) I don't think there is anything I would do differently that I haven't got planned already. I spent a long time thinking about how I was going to do it so the whole car, not just the engine was as much factory MK4 Golf as possible. I wanted to get it all in and working as it should first before any mods (Cough Turbo Cough) come along. I guess the only thing I would have done differently if money was available would be have a downpipe made rather than spending hours and hours making one that fitted perfectly!! As you can probably tell I am rather happy with it. :) You? Jay
  10. Cheers Rolex. I will try and get to some other shows before the years out. Jay
  11. Yep I have them on mine. Got the whole lot from Deutscheperformance. Jay
  12. Will do mate. :) Will post some pics up when the car is finished, but that will probably be on the day before ED38! :) Jay
  13. Cheers Lee, nice to get compliments from someone with a car as good as yours. Jay
  14. Andy - The front engine mount is excellent so far. The engine doesn't touch the bonnet now, even with the cover on! :) Dinkus- I will do my best! :)
  15. Two rado's, one red one blue, parked together at the side of the A418 on the way into Aylesbury in Bierton on Sunday evening. Jay
  16. LOL. Nope just completely custom ones. The best bit being the removal of the window switches from the speaker pod and putting them up in the arm rest by the grab handle. No more water in the switches for me! :) Jay
  17. Glad you all like it. It still needs a proper clean and detail for ED38, but its physically complete and it works!! :) The main thing is its exactly (or as close as possible) as to how it would be in a MK4, so if anything is wrong its easy to establish why.... I am going to get the air-con charged up next week and make sure all the climate control works. Door cards are the focus tonight, need to get them fabricated so I can get the trimmed in time for the show!! Cheers for all your nice comments. Jay
  18. LOL. No Randal thats the little brat that plays football with her brother round the flats when she stays over during the summer holidays! Cheers Sam. You know how mad this has been for me!
  19. Unfortunately the interior is not quite so finished!! :) Only a month till Editon 38 to get it all done! ARGHH!! Jay
  20. Well finally the engine bay is done! Everything installed Engine, loom, cooling system, ABS, Aircon everything. Runs very well so far, just a few little bits and pieces to finish off to make it look pretty :) Think its about as factory as I could get it.
  21. Dinkus just make sure you wear a bib please, I don't want any of your fluids on my leather or paint or engine for that matter!! :)
  22. It will just be some engine pics tonight and possibly a pic of the complete state my interior is in at the mo!! :) Driving in to work today the sunroof wiring (which i am half way through) fell down infront of my face, which made me jump a bit!! :) Should all be done for ED38 though! Jay
