  1. New genuine rocker cover gasket purchased today. Looks like I have a job for the weekend... Jay
  2. LOL, cheers no I don't work in the motor trade at all, just spent too many years tinkering with cars as a hobby. I dread to think the hours I spent on that car and I only sold it as it was just the right time to do it. Jay
  3. Barry Owen going by the advert, but I don't recognise the name... Jay
  4. Sounds like a good plan and some nice stuff going on there. I have done a bit on corrados ;). This is the last one I built myself... Jay
  5. 30 to 32 front and 28 rear works nicely on 205/40/17's No wonder yours felt bad. Jay
  6. There is no question of me replacing them, I am definitely doing that this week, its just whether I spend £100 on OEM ones... Or £10 on 8mm high pressure certified fuel pipe. (spot the difference)
  7. Just checked with VW and they are £52 each!! hmmm... really want the original ones, but.... Jay
  8. Someone was after the metal parts of one of these the other week so they could fit my group buy poly inserts too it and I can't remember who.... maybe Cazza? Jay
  9. Cheers Dave, I have not actually checked the size yet, but is it just straight rubber pipe rather than a pre moulded pipe? Jay
  10. Nice one. I love going for an MOT knowing you have just replaced everything they will look at. Jay
  11. Does anyone know if the Rubber fuel lines on the side of the VR are moulded to shape from new, or is it just 6mm rubber hose that has set in that shape over time. I need to replace mine and was just going to buy some 6mm fuel hose... Jay
  12. Should be here tomorrow fingers crossed so we will see... :) Jay
  13. Exactly. Or FWD MK4 golfs having a separate shock and spring on the rear and "coilovers" on the front.
  14. Nope, not me LOL. Have I seen your car outside Renold? Jay
  15. Basically there is no difference between the two chap. Both are actually by definition coilovers short for "coil spring over strut". , its just that one has the facility to raise and lower the the height of the spring platform as desired, where the other does not. In order to do this and not clash with wheels, bodywork etc.. you need a smaller diameter spring, hence the different look. This also means the strut body (cylinder) is shorter to allow for the range in drop and this is what I need, as the fixed damper is too long for my ideal front end height so the piston is not running in the preffered middle 1/3 of the cylinder stroke.. As long as the spring poundages are not a million miles out and you have a damping adjustment to allow you to match said springs, there is no reason you can't use either. Jay
  16. That was me :) Nice to see another Rado as I never seem to see them any more. Jay
  17. Hi. Thanks for the kind words. I bought all I could as genuine VW parts off eBay and then what I couldn't find in time I bought from the VW dealership. I would guess all told the front and rear end rebuild probably cost the best part of £700/£800, but that was replacing every single bush ball joint, mount etc..
  18. The inox are stainless steel Bodies rather than plated steel so should stay looking better, but don't really offer much advantage Over well looked after standard ones
  19. I have the speedo surround. £10 if you want and I will add it to the poly mount box :) Jay
  20. OK. I have bitten the bullet and placed the order for the poly parts. Should have everything by the end of the month all going well. Jay
