The definitive "What Air Filter?" discussion thread
CazzaVR replied to CazzaVR's topic in Engine Bay
Try swapping back to the original setup to see the difference. When I did that with my K&N kits, the car defo felt a bit quicker/smoother/more purposeful with the standard setup. Just didn't sound as good, although the quiet car is a nice change for a few days :) -
Steve, glad you finally found a decent one :) . Looks superb, with a couple of nice mods already done 8)

Clutch failure(?) - FIXED, was hydraulic AND friction!

Everything crossed! :) -
Is there anyone nearby who could lend you their ecu for a test? Worth a shot I reckon...
-
Better late than never! :) Love this car- beautiful, standard Storm, which I thought I'd broken for a few seconds last night   Everything in the engine bay looks so shiny and new! The guages are superb- would love a set- they finish the interior off nicely. Gonna look fantastic on the KWs, and sound fantastic with the BMC 8)
-
Looking fantastic there, Michael 8) All your hard work is paying off :)
-
She looks absolutely superb- stunning in fact! 8) Looks like U-Dubs was a good show- may have to go next year. So, when are you getting the KWs then?
-
Yeh, we forgot to bleed the master :? I'll take it to a garage- should be pretty painless... If there's anything we can do to help... Hmmm, interesting!
-
Good work! Let's have a round of applause for the Irwins 8) Found plenty of those fuel magnets on Ebay ;)
-
Good pics there, matey 8) Was a good, productive day. Reckon the handbrake cable is defo too long- got under the car today and it's fitted & routed correctly, but slightly too long, making it too slack :? Really pleased with the calipers :) Will get the brakes bled again in the next couple of days. Also going to try Vornwend's ISV to see if that's the prob with the stalling... I'll keep you posted on the *possible* VR sale... ;) I'm gonna try to keep her, but it just may well not be viable :(
-
Around £24.
-
Edited your name for you ;) Gutted you had a bit of a mare today :( It'll all be worth it! Toying with selling up in the summer :(

It's looking lovely, mate 8) -
Right, did the ECU, and no change. Also tried a different MAF, and still no change. I'll try a known working ISV next. I've tried 1 alternative one already, but it was used, so could be duff.

Was tailgated, on and off by a Range Rover last night for nearly an hour. Lost him several times, but he kept catching up when I met traffic. His headlights were absolutely blinding, and, quite frankly, darn dangerous  I couldn't see anything on several occasions due to being blinded, even with my rear view mirror flipped, so had to really slow down and concentrate on the cats's eyes :? The lights in my wing mirrors were unbearable. He was obviously some rich numpty, with no regard for other road users, but this really highlighted for me how dangerous xenons can be. Surely there must be some law for maximum output? His dipped beam was a lot brighter than a normal halogen on full beam. Not good for other road users, and I'm sure accidents must have been caused by this in the past. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Kev. Have cleaned, lubed and swapped the ISV several times, but not done the ecu procedure. Will give it a go today... It was worse last night and actually stalled properly for only the second time :(
-
Brake fluid change/bleed, rear caliper rebuild and handbrake cable change, all with a great deal of help from Boost Monkey and ProdigalSon 8)
-
Looking forward to meeting Ron ('The Plum') today, and also his owner ('The Big Plum') Will be leaving shortly...
-
Glad it's finally sorted, Dave :) Some good tips there- I'm doing mine tomorrow...
-
Jon, that was the n/s front, which is fine. The one that needs attention is the rear o/s. Dave sounds like a plan! It still won't be that low- prob around 60mm. There's miles to go on the coilovers!
-
Ron is the main reason I'm making the journey! He'd better be there!
-
:( Hopefully it will, by the end of the day!
-
We'll have to make sure Drew's C is facing the other way, so the blushing bonnet doesn't spoil things
-
Like the front of it, but the rear is abysmal! Just looks like a middle of the road hatch like a Mazda 3, Civic or... Proton Satria  Dear, oh dear! Liking the Seat though, and the Passat R36 looks superb- would look amazingly mean in black 8)
-
Dave, it's the same ride height, but I see what you mean- does look quite low. I'm gonna drop it another 20mm when I get time- any more and it won't get up the drive :? Andy- thanks for the pics. Like 'em- especially the second one 8) Hopefully we can get some more good ones on Saturday :)
