So to get this all straight, are people saying, don't bother with any upgrade unless you're swapping to 4pots, but if you need new standard discs, get brembo discs from a motor factors?

How to: Open a stuck door
OllieVR6 replied to OllieVR6's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
So is mine! Thank's to your posts I could fix it, but finding it in search wasn't easy I think my search term was "remove door card door closed", so hopefully this little guide will make it easier for people to find. -
I know that feeling! Luckily it hasn't come to selling the Corrado yet, and it won't if I get my way. It's worth far more to me than I'd get for selling it! I'd rather sell a kidney first!

Ok, so today I have been fixing my drivers door. It was stuck closed and I couldn't open it from either inside or out, the handle wasn't broken, which also seems to be a common problem, but you might as well install a repair kit whilst you're doing this. I had looked around the forum and could not find a definitive answer, so here is my guide for you. This thread is what I used to get my door open and fix the problem, but it's not complete. In this thread you can see how to remove a door card, but it's not possible to do it with the door closed, hence this guide. You need to get the window open and remove the top strip, I don't think you can get them off with the window closed. Once you've done that you need a wire coat hanger, stretch it out and make a small hook on the end. You need to hook this part up, picture borrowed from the other thread (my camera died): This is what it looks like when you take the mech out the car, the circled part is the bit you need to lift: When you pull the handle a hammer (the part that the repair kit is for) strikes the mech (circled above). What happened to me is the mech got stuck down, so when I was pulling the handle the hammer wasn't hitting anything. Now that you have hooked it up you should be able to get the door open with the handle. If the hammer is broken, this won't work. You need to push the mech DOWN to release the door. Now you have the door open, you can remove the door card (shamelessly stolen pic): I also had a screw on the inside of the door card, which doesn't seem to be shown above. With the door open you can remove the mech and the handle, I don't need to tell you how to remove the handle here, there are other guides for that but it is worth noting: You take the handle out by undoing the screw just above the mech. IT IS A REVERSE THREADED SCREW! You will need an allan key to remove the mech (two bolts), it may also have a plastic cover on it. The cover just unclips. Once you get it out you will have something that looks like this :gag: : So get some WD40 and a toothbrush and give it a damn good scrub, then apply some grease to all the moving parts. You can pretty much smear it anywhere. Check it all works, then put it back in, nice :) Here are a couple more pics in case you need them.

I was looking at my coachwork today and I'm definitely gonna have this done, just gotta save some pennies, stupid recession!
-
That looks really good, nice one!

Slight thread hi-jack, what would be the going rate to get someone to do both bumpers and that panel just below the boot lid? I would need the prep work and the paint done? No smoothing or anything...just a ball park figure?

You should have a read of this, I only use Tesco 99 these days: http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/tuni ... port.shtml

Pictures of this please :)

From 50 quid to a hundred grand, we buy any DOT COOOOM. God that advert is so annoying, but can't help singing along!
-
I wish they would just re-run the original Corrado but add 4wd and the R32 lump, that would be perfect!

Do a google, there are hundreds of threads about it. For me, I stripped one with Nitromors, then decided I hated the stuff and the rest I have just sanded down myself. You can repair scuffs with metal filler, that Ispon stuff from halfrauds does the trick. Then just prime with etch primer and spray. If I had the money I would get them done by someone else tho. A friend of mine had a set of 18's done, they were stripped, repaired and powder coated satin black, £250 they came back like new. The other option is to get them stripped by somone else (about £10-£15 per wheel) and then spray them yourself. Tbh by the time I have finished mine I will have almost spent what it would cost to get them done professionally in sand paper, stripper, primer, paint etc etc.

I'm glad this thread popped up, I too have been wondering about this. I'm surprised that the 280 > 288 is so much more noticeable than the 288 > 312! So am I right to think that you can buy 288mm discs, chuck them on and fit pads (from what car) without any other modification?
-
Just as a side note. Nitromors is the most horrible, messy and frustrating product that I have ever worked with, I promise it would be worth the money to get someone to strip them for you.

I had no problem getting Silver from the stealers and if you look at my link above, vwspares sell it too.

It was about twice the price of vwspares, I should have check online first :mad2: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info. ... ts_id=1137 The normal ones will be fine mate. Check this for service information: http://wiki.the-corrado.net/servicing_guide.html http://wiki.the-corrado.net/engine_oil_ ... hange.html http://wiki.the-corrado.net/gearbox_oil_change.html Forum is having a 'moment' sorry for double post, can't delete them :/

Yeah that does look amazin'! Got a better photo? :D

You're doing this with the mani on the car? So there's no danger of metal particles getting through your air filter? I'd imagine you're going to want some high temp paint for the grooves.
-
I'm in the same boat as you dude, I really really want it now, but just about everyone says to go for the KW's, and I just don't want to regret not getting them to save money short term. I say save moar and get the KW's :D :D

Check the front top mounts, there was a thread recently showing the difference between a good one and a shagged one. That's all I got warnings for this year.

Myth I'm afraid.
