Guys, I'm slightly confused, could someone briefly explain what cable I need. I didn't think any Corrados were OBD2 unless you have converted them? Yet most of the cables linked to in this thread are for OBD2. Also I looked at the 2x2 cables, and I'm 99% sure they aren't the connectors I have under my gear gaitor, I have the OBD2 looking connector.

Isnt insurance a pain!!! vr6 might have to go
OllieVR6 replied to Flexso's topic in General Car Chat
I've got my VR on an admiral multi car policy. I'm 25 and got a quote with 0 years no claims, but they gave me 3 when I called and said I had been driving as a named driver. My other car is a Clio 1.2 16v and I have 3 points for speeding, all declared. My insurance this year is going to cost me about £800 fully comp for both cars, the VR costing £500 and the Clio £300 but to put that into perspective, all other quotes for just the VR alone were well over a grand (most places wouldn't insure me at all). Admiral will apparently try to sting me next year on the multicar but I'll worry about that next year. -
Oh man, I love these threads. I got my VR6 last Feb, and have never driven it, aside from moving it around the drive (my dad drove it home). I insured it on Monday and I have the MOT booked for Saturday, and I am so FUCKING EXCITED!! Seriously I can't stop thinking about finally getting to drive it, for the last year every time I get in the daily I have been imagining I was in the C and how things would be different, little traffic light races or what-not. ARRGGHHH wanna drive it NOW!! EDIT - I'm in Camberley/Farnborough so I know the Fleet/Bracknell area well :)

Cheers guys! Probably a daft question, but not really knowing anything about relays, are they all the same? Is there another one in the car I try to test it, or can I 'borrow' one from my other car (not a Corrado)?
-
Bit weird this one. I just charged the battery as I haven't used the car for a year, got it in the garage whilst I prep it for an MOT. Thought I would check all the bulbs so I popped the hazard lights on, but the lights were flashing really slow, maybe twice a minute. What is strange is that the longer I left them on, the faster they flashed, until they were flashing almost normally after about 5 minutes, although I'm sure they were flashing slower than they should. Any ideas what could be causing this? Is it just a gremlin due to the cold weather, seems a bit odd? I'll have another look tonight to see if if the same thing happens.

MOT Statistics Released (ONLY 3000 CORRADOS LEFT IN UK!)
OllieVR6 replied to LukeManic's topic in General Car Chat
Mines also SORN...........thinking about it, it wasn't in 2007 as far as I know. -
Hey, slightly off the subject but where did you get your new gear knob and gaiter from ? Can you still get them from VW ? Mine are knackered an could do with changing ! :) I bought this from ebay, although I haven't fitted the handbrake part yet. The gear knob was from VW, £25. You can still get the OEM gaiters as well but I was quoted £136!! Once you remove the old gaiter you have to tear the plastic bottom part out (the bit that makes the bottom square) and glue it in as that ebay one doesn't have one. If that doesn't make sense you'll see what I mean when you compare your old one with the new one.

Here is mine: And seeing as I haven't had a chance to show this off yet, here is my new gear knob and gaiter, very pleased!

I would also like to know this, I have been machine polishing mine (same colour) and haven't managed to achieve results as good as this! -
900 mile round trip to scotland in a vr6 corrado..snow!!
OllieVR6 replied to marmite monster's topic in General Car Chat
That's awesome, did you go purely for the driving, or was there some event planned when you arrived? I'm not sure if it's a good thing that an 800 mile round trip in a C, without any issues, is considered a triumph  -
I think that is a pretty awesome claim to fame!

New series of TOP GEAR Sundays. Series Comments
OllieVR6 replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
That was an awesome episode, just watched it on demand. Does anyone know how much is real and how much is staged? It all seems real enough, I just cant imagine that 3 middle aged men can realistically be expected to be either fit enough or mad enough to do some of those things. Example - Richards car rolling away at the end, I get the impression that was on purpose? -
Merry Christmas everyone :D

My 16v Corrado.. Featured in this months (Jan 2010) PVW!
OllieVR6 replied to Bally's topic in Members Gallery
I picked up PVW after you mentioned you got your car featured, well done! Great read, and as bonus there are a total of THREE C's in there this month, bonus! Will have to go back to page one of this thread and read the whole thing I think. :D -
Great work! I'll be interested in knowing the actual weight now if you manage to actually get it weighed officially :)

I thought the roof strips were obsolete? Last time I went to my local stealer's they said they were still available...was about 1 month ago.
-
Get some more pics up as soon as you can, looking forward to seeing this one!
-
Welcome mate. The roof strips are about £50 a piece ex vat from VW new, and really hard to come by 2nd hand. I took mine out as they were rotten, and think I'm going to leave them out tbh. Lovely colour, zorst looks awesome!

Link to build thread please!!!!! Epic!

Just another thing to rattle isn't it?
-
Well my rear seats look matt, and I'm pretty sure they have hardly been used (previous owner doesn't have kids) and the front ones look gloss, which proves the above theory right I reckon :D

Avoid breakdowns - renew which components first?
OllieVR6 replied to craigowl's topic in General Car Chat
Threads like this are golden. Can't imagine how embarrassing it would be to break down in the high street! I'll be doing what ever people list on here, not really knowing older cars, it's all good advice imo. What about fuel lines? I'm sure I have seen them mentioned quite a lot on this 'ere forum?
