  1. oh my dear lord! i feel sick to the core after watching that steve, i cant imagine how you must feel :( i dont know if asking how or why would be pertinent at this time. truly savage
  2. is that kind of like the 'bird feather technology' spray substance ive seen? based on the principle that birds feathers are water proof due to the way they create millions of microscopic ridges with gaps so small between each 1 that a single water particle can not fall between them & thus the water beads & rolls off i think that is the substance sony use on their experia to make it water proof
  3. Ha ha no good sir, just a shy under at 38. Am praying & hoping & crossing everything for a BIG birthday pressie for my 40th......oink oink ;) lol
  4. welcome. It is a shame to hear you have been an owner for so long but only now post when your thinking of selling. good luck with it though
  5. Indeed Kev!! fortunately we are pretty good at panel work thanks to the endless hours of rubbing & prep'ing on VW camper vans lol Yes m8, the temptation for the 850 CSi is almost a big as that for the E30 M3 but with the advantage of a V12 My dads hasnt been out of the garage for well over 10 years but i still hear in my mind the rumble of the flat 6 that used to wake me up as a child :D I'm not too far off 40 & am hoping it might make a long awaited return appearance then ;)
  6. it was a jesting comment in an earlier post on the thread Kev ;) why thank you. i know my uncle is keen to restore it but currently building funds as it might be quite a whopper of a build cost. However, with the reg plate it has too it really will be a stunner when finished I know what you mean about Porsche build quality too. I still remember driving my dads 1978 911 SC when i was just 18, the sturdy reassuring feeling of feedback the whole car gives you actually made you feel like you were having to 'drive' it rather than be a driving passenger like modern cars
  7. my 'ewww' comment was a throw away one really ;) my unlce has an old BMW 3.0 CSi, reg is black & silver style BMW 309L, & though it needs restoring it is a stunning car with presence every where you look kinda like this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/21/BMW_3.0CSi-Front.jpg Im quite fickle with more modern cars as the majority i do not like. Maybe its the way the manufacturers all seem to copy each other when a more unusual design arrives or a particular model takes off. For example the amount of 'chelsea tractors' i see around is horrendous & they all look very similar. Or take the new scirocco - that looked a lovely 'new' shape until all the other car makers realised it was selling & copied it. In essence they just loose any ability to have character.
  8. Kev - that is a fantastic explanation & a great level of detail thank you on behalf of us all on here for continuing to share your vast knowledge & experience, i know personally i learn much from you
  9. oh dear, sad news indeed but agree with sean that its great that you are not going to let it beat you
  10. i hoped you would pop up here Kev - great input & love the technical name for the snorkel!
  11. lovely jubbly!! last night i spent a few minutes checking over the early grill & was chuffed to find that all 3 parts have all of their respective clips in place the 16v badge only needs a wipe over & im currently mulling over if i can use nitromors to strip the paint off the grill or if i should give it a rub down instead
  12. you are quite correct redborbet - there are quite a few threads on here about air feeds & do's & dont's & pro's & con's IIRC Kev Bacon had done some rolling road output tests with stealth to compare stock air box, stock air box with snorkel removed & BMC - with the BMC being the only one which gave an increase in power output again IIRC with regard to the snorkel, i believe they are there for a specific reason, IE to increase the air flow entering the standard air box, & though it can change the sound it 'could' have a detrimental effect to performance if removed my only other input would be to consider the 'heat soak' effect which i think can make a K&N a worse preformer than standard air box - & this is the reason the BMC is designed as it is with the carbon fiber canister to avoid sucking in hot air oh & one final thing which ive previously mentioned....the BMC sound is just awesome at all revs & looks gorgeous with one of daves16v brackets!!!! :D
  13. diirty word ewww!!!! lol [ with exception of an E reg M3 Evo ;) ]
  14. you guessed right, we do indeed....its like a little club :D
  15. good advice heeded Jim thank you i think it is one of those jobs that even if you have done it before it will result in lots of 'F'ing & blinding' at awkward bits that should be easy but prove to be little barstewards good luck with the next step m8 & i will look forward to your updates in due course
  16. OK thanks Jim - really appreciate your feedback i have another guide which is the dash in option - think i might give that a go as by the sound of it you have to wrestle the matrix out either way
  17. ahh ok Jim how are you finding it so far? any tips? (though mine will be on an early so very slightly different) oh & is the guide much help?
  18. if you look in the 'suppliers' section on the front page of the forum you will find a couple of options for uprated headlight looms or click here http://the-corrado.net/forumdisplay.php?f=20 ;)
