i have tried one of the ebay mirrors but the outline shape was slightly wrong & it didnt quite fit the original plastic backer i ended up getting one off lilfuzzer on here, he sold me a complete wing mirror - unfortunately, though the glass was correct shape it is magnified which im not keen on but then i didnt ask about it beforehand drop him a PM, he may have what you need :)

g0ldf1ng3r replied to slider's topic in Cars for Sale [Corrado]
leather was non-factory - ad says been added from a storm - pity they didnt change the rear ash tray lid though -
lol dont take any offence m8 all are a nice bunch on here, just a little joking around goes on your posts are racking up nicely now :)

roose motorsport make hoses for our VR's if nobody has any - though i would use the OE spring clamps rather than jubilee's if i did them again
-
ha ha ha good one fella lol

likely due to them not seeing it yet & also due to the number of posts you have made so far, IE 1 after several posts you shouldnt need mod approval to make a new thread IIRC

lol i have that very feeling now every time i drive the valver after previously using the VR FYI they are a 4 week lead time as HiSpec manufacture them to order ;)

[quote=VEEDUBBED;1173890 I reckon the max. you can go on 15" is by using modded Vauxhall meriva cdti 4 stud 280mm disks and Girling 60 calipers, 4 pot Brembo calipers would also be ideal. i run HiSpec Billet 4's under my VR's 15" speedlines, cracking 4 pots ;)

hi anna i dont think that it is 'everyone saying bad things about expensive' - in general i have found Heritage to be very good value i have also found the service from not only yourself but your colleagues i have spoken with on the phone to be excellent - always very helpful & knowledgeable & to be a little blunt Heritage are massively more helpful than the local VW dealers personally, i think the 'expensive' part normally corresponds to parts you have had reproduced & also to those parts which are hard or impossible to find. obviously we all know & appreciate Heritage need to cover setup & initial order type costs but sometimes the eventual 'price' of an item can be a shock to begin with - however, when compared to the older VW part prices they are often better or very competitive again personally, i would like to thank yourself, luke, martin & george! the 2 parts Heritage sent me last week have enabled me to repair both of my rado's this weekend :D

hi m8 no, in fact i gt the opposite historically my VR has never had the best feeling brake pedal - it always felt like you had to pump it to get a good feeling under foot the ABS has never been quite right & i had quite a few lock ups from the OE brake setup. i had previously tried EBC USR discs & green stuff pads & though they seemed to stop any locks in heavy braking i wouldnt say they stopped me any better than OE discs/pads. i did get a much better disc/pad life than OE now with the HiSpec's it feels like you have access to a much greater stopping power virtually as soon as you hit the pedal - just a small travel & they let you know they can & will stop you hard & fast. press that pedal hard & you need to hold the steering wheel tight else you will head butt the screen lol

Stealth Racing did a great job of live mapping my VR6 :D

very much another boo - yay few days, hopefully good results in the end on the way to work in the VR on thurs, almost there, pull away from an island & "WTF is that coming out the front left of the bonnet & spraying on my windscreen" moments ensued :( fortunately there was a lay by only 100 yards or so away so quickly managed to get it there & shut her off popped bonnet to find this... the elbow on top of the rad had fractured & popped the hose off. found the other end of the elbow in the hose tried a cowboy fix but it wouldnt hold & i wasnt sure how much coolant had been lost had to get rescued but due to a mistake by RAC it took about 4 hours in all fortunately a call to Heritage & a new elbow was on its way received the new oil pressure switch for the valver on friday, swapped it over & hey presto no more oil alarm buzzer when hit 2.5k revs thus definitely the generic switch was not correct for the vehicle, despite all part numbers corresponding to correct VW parts etc Heritage switch had a clear stamp of 1.8-2.0bar on it - the motor factors one had nothing took it for a run & all seemed ok - cross fingers that is fixed & ok now - glad it doesnt seem to be the oil pump lol elbow arrived for the VR late saturday - got it fitted, filled up coolant - it had lost about 2/3's id say ran her up to stat opening & topped up etc drove her back on sunday & all seemed ok - again fingers crossed it was just a plastic part failure but i may get it to my mechanic for a pressure test on the system had a lovely toasty warm drive to work today in the valver :D air box re-lining has worked great & the new gaskets etc along the way are giving a good result when directional flow moved around

help! 1.8 16v oil alarm buzzer coming on as soon as revs hit 2.5k
g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
further digging, as it was too dark to remove the one fitted the switch from the motor factors is listed as 1.53-1.93 bar Heritage were superb & went to the lengths of physically picked the switch from their stock & checked what was stamped on it, as their system just showed it should be 1.8 bar, & their switch is rated as 1.8-2.0 bar thus ordered the Heritage one as i believe the motor factors switch is causing the alarm due to the lower pressure being too low - well, that is the theory so fingers crossed -
pleasure anna, i always try to help let me have a think on the prepared to pay part & check my old math interesting that you already use freight forwarding services, i wonder if the wings worked out unfavourable to heritage to stock would you be prepared to assist with ad-hoc wings upon request IIRC spoonfed make the wings to order so maybe some kind of mechanism could be figured out to help UK people get them
-
hi anna i spoke to spoonfed about their carbon fibre wings a couple of months ago the issue with shipping is that spoonfed will not ship to the uk - they said the service they use doesnt allow for it the guy said that a UK person had previously used a freight forwarding company to purchase some i researched into freight forwarding & there looked to be options available but it would be rather expensive. plus there would be an import duty on top of all of that spoonfed's price for a pair of CF wings is very good but i found that once all the rest was added they were around the same price as a pair of wings from classic parts however, spoonfed also do a fibre glass option which may give some potential for reducing costs are you able to discuss wings with them? i believe if the price was right they could be a hot cake item

hi m8 - these.... full info on cost etc in my build thread & i also did a cost comparison to 288's IIRC
-
ha ha indeed Mic i am finding that out i had hoped they would be good but this morning surprised me just how good they are id love to get the VR on a track now just to really give them a good beating, see how they cope with temps & fade etc
-
well, 2 days of driving with the new bolster & though i did not expect to i can feel the difference with the new one holding me better i had to use the 4 pots in slight anger this morning, holy **** batman they are so much better than OE setup it is hard to put into words amazing retardation, no locking & make you hang on tight to the steering wheel else you would be kissing the screen if anyone is looking for better brakes under OE wheels I would highly recommend them & advise not to bother with 288's

help! 1.8 16v oil alarm buzzer coming on as soon as revs hit 2.5k
g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
spoke to Heritage - they checked EKTA & said the white one should be 1.8bar will whip the new one off when get home & check it - fingers crossed it is a different pressure -

g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
thanks for the replies im going to remove the new white sensor & check if it says what pressure it is - the one i removed was collected by the bin men so likely have to ring VW to check what the system says it should be i do have the old black one but dont think it is that as the alarm started after i changed the white one -

g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
just spoke with my mechanic - his thoughts were along those of wullie, that one of the new sensors is of the wrong type & a different pressure he also agreed that if it was a mechanical issue i would have likely got worse symptoms by now hope i can find the old black sensor in the bin but think the bin men will have the white one as it was bin day on thurs off to VW to check what pressure they should both be -
help! 1.8 16v oil alarm buzzer coming on as soon as revs hit 2.5k
g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
thanks for the input wullie the answer is yes & no - due to the oil buzzer alarm going off occasionally in the past few months. however, as it nearly always stayed quiet after turning ignition off & back on i thought it was false alarming. i had also not previously noticed a regular pattern - which i do now. whereas before it seemed to alarm randomly it now triggers as soon as revs hit 2.5k, both when engine cold or hot i replaced the oil pressure sensors one at a time & on different days so they are definitely both in the right place, as opposed to me swapping them over by mistake unfortunately i binned the old sensors i removed but the white topped one was p**sing oil out of the top of it so must have been faulty i am wondering if the leaking sensor was distorting things & not letting the alarm go off when it should have been however, if it has been starving the engine of oil for those months i would have expected a bigger problem -
i also managed to crack on with the bits for the VR - which was much needed in the end & a bit of a rush as i needed the VR for work this week finally plumbed the new matrix in. glad i took pics of the engine bay as the hoses cross over at the matrix on the VR, unlike the valver carried out the coolant top up / air lock jobbie & all was running fine. nice hot air now & hot/cold mix due to air box flap reline got the steering wheel & drivers seat finished bar a final coat of conditioner a big thanks to lilfuzzer for the RHS drivers bolster, it not only looks awesome in place but also now giving my drivers seat a very 'new' look to it, plus the gliptone stuff make the leather smell superb. the seat base now holds me better & though the old bolster was not completely gone the difference is noticeable :D the gliptone stuff did a very good job overall & covered the slightly worn patch on the drivers RHS upper bolster nicely pointless post without pics so...

g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
cool, thank you geeba what you describe is kinda what i had figured from the diagram in the bentley - sounds very do-able on the drive will ring the motor factors & get a price for a pump & sump gasket - is there anything else i may need or be worth checking while the sump is off? i guess as i will have to drop the oil i may as well change it & also the plugs & air filter for a quick service -

g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Engine Bay
ive changed both oil pressure sensors for new ones so hopefully the 'system' is now working as it should but also alarming to say something is not right ive not driven it since limping home i recall Vince saying that with the VR if the oil feed is not sufficient when engine is cold it will/should cut out when revs hit 3k, as that was his reasoning for my VR needing a new sump pump at the time if it is sump pump, does anyone know if they are easy to change? ive checked bentley manual but it only shows the system for G60 & doesnt cover the 16v specific only 8v, though i imagine the bottom end is almost the same
