  1. currently on the hunt for a decent outdoor all weather car cover too - the portable garage i was considering just feels too big for my driveway i have looked at the Movendi one MikeVR6 posted here a couple of months ago but it is advertised as indoor anyone have any suggestions? i have today found this one https://www.stormcarcovers.co.uk/collections/volkswagen/products/vw-car-covers?variant=640763609 which seems to tick all of the outdoor/weather boxes
  2. yes m8 i will be re-dyeing i got the cleaner, conditioner & dye from gliptone. bizarrely i heard of them a long time ago & when i came to purchase they had moved to an industrial estate literally 5 mins drive from me so i popped in there for reference if you look at my build thread earlier pages there are pics of the steering wheel i refurb'd ages ago but donated to the gf for her storm when she sold it i am about to call the place that relined my gf's headliner in her storm to ask how much to remove 1 sagging bolster & install the replacement i got form lilfuzzer the dehumidifier is tidy, they simply plug into the mains for a few hours to recharge & then good to go again
  3. ha ha why thank you kind sir though in reality it is only an hour or 2 a few evenings a week lol i find it helps that i have a workshop of some form attached to the house. i brought an old 50's ex-council house which has the old skool outhouse & toilet attached via a covered alley & had doors fitted either end when i moved in one of the first things i did was to remove the old kitchen & re-use the surfaces to make work benches along all 3 interior walls. add to that a well laid out tool board it makes jobs so much more simple as you can go straight to what you need. as such i can leave the kitchen door open & happily do odd bits as im cooking dinner etc :D i think if one was tucked up in a garage i too would likely not be as pro-active on it but i try to use them both fairly equally as we all know they dont like to be stood outside unused for long periods i should probably also mention that i have a very understanding gf too so she doesnt mind too much when there are parts spread all over the house....like last week when the dining room table had my entire VR dash on it lol
  4. i agree too - especially with their relatively light weight i do really like those Ronal Turbo's though but it is autostrada modena's i want for my VR :D
  5. blimey the temperature dropped this morning didnt it!! & pre-work drive moisture conditions ramped up pretty quickly too i have one already, which was great for stopping early morning moisture on the inside of the glass, but wanted one for each rado so have just ordered these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391705279144 bargain! on the VR note - i must get the new matrix plumbed in this weekend as im going to be needing the valver air box to be relined pretty damn soon (chilly ish feet this morning lol) so will need the VR to get to work for a bit. which also means i need to press on with the steering wheel & front seats refurb - progress update on such..... drivers seat front faces have had 3 coats of conditioner & a fair few days for it to soak in so a quick clean & it is ready for re-colouring passenger seat has now had 2 or 3 washes i think, a couple more washes on the faces & then do the backs then ready for conditioning. on that note, the difference in leather softness is very apparent to the touch :) steering wheel has also had a couple of washes but the rinse water was very dirty still so will need at least another 3 i think for anyone who is doing this themselves i have found the gliptone cleaner to work very well with a soft nail brush & just enough water on the nail brush to really get the stuff to foam nicely
  6. great feedback Ron how do they secure in place? is there a double sided tape on them or something? the valver driver side is sagging at the top so will need addressing before the real wet weather arrives
  7. thanks ron will take a look :) EDIT - found them but cant find anything related to corrado did you phone them or get generic ones? any info or part numbers would be much appreciated
  8. i made my own shiny ones for a few pence graham i found the metal insert for for modern plastic water pipe fittings were a perfect fit with a little electrical tape wrapped round the body pic here on my thread http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?44751-g0ldf1ng3r-s-VR6-amp-1-8-16V/page21
  9. i thought i may as well make the most of the interior being out. also took my time with re-gasketing the bits where the air system joins together & taped up some wiring where the foam had disintegrated oh & i will finally be able to use my stereo again once it is all back together. Stealth do good work in many areas & i love the final result of the engine work but whoever put everything back together when they did my matrix, i suspect the young guy that Vince got shot of for lots of poor work on my VR amongst other things, had no foresight whatsoever. cables had been routed snaking about everywhere & with no slack whatsoever meaning i couldnt get the head unit out until i had removed most of the dash i did manage to apply the first coat of conditioner on the driver seat last night & wow what a difference already - i knew i should have take a before pic lol
  10. is the bore leaking pressure or causing you excessive oil consumption? potential to shelve that very big job for a while if not but then if funds allowed a re-bore to 3.0 litre, fresh hone, forged wossner pistons etc etc would be rather nice lol
  11. no danger fella let me know if you want me to order them for you & we can arrange details via PM i might get some myself at that price as my ABS has been intermittent for years but i have kind of negated it now ive put the 4 pots on as they brake so much better than standard :D
  12. geeba - i rang them anyway m8 i can get the fronts for about £15 each, Febi brand not sure what postage would be for 4 as they are small but likely heavy ish
  13. a little progress last night m8 gave the drivers seat faces a 4th & 5th clean - damn that dirty rinse water in the bucket lol - & then started to apply the conditioner will take some pics when i remember but the drivers seat is starting to look like the passenger seat even before the re-colour :D
  14. decided to replace the jubilee clips on the matrix feed/return hoses with the proper clamps, finally the VW guy was helpful today & i didnt get the usual 'phht, corrado, not going to get parts for that' line lol
  15. pity the staff delphi scheme is currently on hold else i would have asked for a price for you m8 FYI delphi are an OE spec manufaturer & most of the braking system on my valver is delphi as i got it so cheap they are small parts & thus post-able so i could ring my local motor factors & ask what my staff rate is there for you if you want?
  16. probaly regrets getting caught rather than the selling lol
  17. tell me about it when i was 17 i sold a stack of Marvel & DC comics which included a first edition No1 Incredible Hulk (where he was grey not green) & journey into mystery No83 which was the very first appearance of Thor the amount they are worth now, let alone the other gems in the stack that i wasnt aware of, is incredible & many many times more than what i received. i reckon i could now retire on the value if i still had them hey ho, i brought my first car with the money A489UOK iirc, a 1 litre nova in white with bright orange seats
  18. am glad i delayed the seat work too as ive ow got a very good bolster from lilfuzzer to replace the drivers slightly sagging one ;) oh & i also started building the natural pond at the bottom of the garden by the veggie patch - by making use of the bath i recently took out when my dad & i refurb'd my bathroom lol
  19. ha ha ha indeed it is m8! unfortunately the job order changes regularly depending on if anything screams lol
  20. thanks people :) it is not that bad a job, honestly lol just takes time, patience & a few scraped knuckles lol am going to tackle the valver's over a few evenings i think as thanks to the gf i have a 2nd set of labels & envelopes to make things easier :)
  21. had a week off work last week so took the bull by the horns & decided to get on with some of the work on the VR matrix first - started early on monday & by lunch i had most of the interior out & laid across my dining room table & workshop benches all went rather well, having done the valver's a while ago made doing the VR easier though i still struggled again to find the hidden screw holding the dash in lol unfortunately i was beaten by the very last thing to be undone, despite applying wd40 for a few days prior to starting the work the bottom nut holding the air box to the bulk head refused to budge & instead cause the captive bolt to spin queue 2 odd hours of trying to wrestle the fecker out with no joy fortunately my mechanic came to my rescue but 2 days later so i used the interim time to do a more thorough job i tidied the loose wiring up & taped where some of the foam wraps had disintegrated & then relined both the hot/cold mix & directional flaps in the air box - thank you kindly to the person who sent me the sticky backed felt for free!!! (user name escapes me at the mo) i relined the air box flaps in situ, which was a little tricky applying the new felt but wasnt too bad - getting the god dam back liner off the felt was the most frustrating bit lol I also started on the front seat refurb with the gliptone stuff, 3 washes in on the drivers seat & the clean water in the bucket (changed each wash) was still coming out dirty. i had misplaced the make-up sponges for applying the conditioner & colour so paused that job there TBC this week I am also hoping to drop the drivers seat into where the mrs had her headliner done a while ago with view to them swapping the right hand bolster for the replacement i have as on inspection it looks a bit to complicated for me to attempt as it transpired both of the air box bolts had come free from their plastic housing so a quick trip to the local motor factors & epoxy resin in hand i repaired them am pleased to say the mk3 golf matrix dropped straight in & was indeed the correct fit :D i then used saturday to start putting it all back together having cleaned everything & made my own new gaskets to help the air system seal using door draft excluder tape i ran out of energy at the point everything was done with exception of actually connecting up the feed & return hoses to the new matrix TBC on the weekend i think i have a feeling i may have broken my solar trickle charger by trying to start the car with it still connected so whilst i was in the motor factors i used my staff rate to get one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/AA-Battery-Charger-Maintainer-Batteries/dp/B00DW6RHN2 to get some decent charge into the VR battery & then also to be used in winter when it is off the road more this year even thougn i will have heat this time lol
  22. ha ha ive never run a class - could prove interesting lol the directions on the products are pretty good but i also have a guide saved somewhere odd that the pics dont show, they are ok on my pc & were put on the thread as an attachment so not sure why not displaying IIRC it was Tim from the tv program 5th gear that recommended gliptone to me - he saw my VR when i was at my sisters & was pouring all over it & we discussed his porsche restoration
  23. that was what prompted my post to ron too m8
