  1. nice! i mentioned it to the gf about next year we have been to the Dam for my 40th this year & hers last year so may combine it with the festival next year i will check out if they allow dogs as we have a new puppy :)
  2. yippee!!!! i bet you cant wait for that BIG grin to hit as you drive it out of there :D
  3. i have had the VR just over 7 years & have put approx 76K on it so far - it was my daily for the first 5 of those years but now shares its duties with the valver the valver - i think i originally brought it early 2000 but it may have been the end of 1999. i had it for about 6 years IIRC but needed to sell it due to a promotion to external sales. i cant recall the mileage & unfortunately when i brought it back 2 years ago all of the lovely history i sold it with had been lost. such a pity i didnt just keep it but at the time i had nowhere to put it i now tend to share the daily commute between the 2 :)
  4. indeed Jim they are arshole's indeed my gf was fuming when we saw the ad of her storm go up. the guy even promised he would give my gf 1st refusal if he 'ever' sold it. i would like to see the man again purely so i could stamp on his bollocks until he passes out with the pain lol
  5. i, & Jim (admin) too i believe, am not complaining about the nice recent rising of prices my, possibly our, grumble is with the fact that there are many traders out there looking to buy rado's as cheap as they can, do very little work to them & then try to sell them on for huge profits not long after! my gf & i have personally experienced this recently with her storm & the scum bag trader who turned up late & in the near dark, then haggled about his winning ebay price, lied through teeth & then puts it up for sale again (having insisted he would never sell it) for over £5,000 profit! in my opinion that is not 'helping prices' but merely trying to make a quick buck at other peoples expense = SCUM!
  6. woo hooo glad to see you are laughing with it EJ dont let the bar stewards get you down lol
  7. indeed Jim - just like my gf's old storm!!!!! CNUT trader lying grrrrr
  8. ha ha i like it! when the gf had her storm we would laugh about the idea of getting a G60 so that our collection was complete
  9. thanks for the info Kev. i am trying to decide whether to try & get one of the fan brackets that were made on here for the SPAL's or just try to get a new fan which fits the VW rad i put ihn the VR a few years ago
  10. no but i see that cnut at derby trade cars who brought my gf's storm & then put £5K on its price now has another none storm, low miler for just shy of £11K - i bet he got it for £2K & haggled on the ebay winning price
  11. GLWS - my gf has a petrol 1.4 lupo & it really is fun :)
  12. i had a little think about this overnight & there are lots of interesting thoughts etc my 10p worth.... 3 kind of main points EJ & then a wee figure to put things into perspective 1. with age & experience i have found, as have many many others, that if you mod a car in any way you will end up running into some form of issues & higher long term costs. EJ have a read of the tough time i had when the top end was being done at stealth. in short that turned into chasing a weak link & i ended up spending nearly twice what originally budgeted. 2. this one applies to many avenues in life & having followed your build EJ i would highly recommend, again from personal experience with the past 18 months of refubing my house, decide what you want & how to achieve it before starting a project & then stick to it. changes of mind after a job starts etc only costs you much more in the long run. preparation is 90% of the job & that includes being sure on what you want 3. old cars cost money to run & repair!!! BUT not as much as 'new' cars!! live with it, deal with it or sell & get a 'new' car. however, if like me, you own your corrado outright & it doesnt cost you a monthly payment purely just to drive it. then do the math. if we take Jim for example, hope you dont mind mate, but if you say you didnt have your rado for the past 6 years & had a lease hire car at say £250 per month (like most people do) then it would have cost you £3000 per year & £18000 over the same 6 year period you have had your rado BUT you would not even own the 'new' car! you would have spent 18K (plus any servicing & running costs over that period) to end up with nowt on the drive but a balloon payment or give it back & have an empty space. as such Jim you would have still potentially be left with 2K in your pocket if you sold the rado rather than bugger all from a new car - winner! add to this that many of us wouldnt even consider most of the cars available at that kind of lease cost lol i was shocked to learn how much my gf's mom pays for her absolute piece of junk shopping trolley hair dryer powered mazda per month!!!! or if all else fails do as i did & buy 2 rados so that you always have one to drive if the other one is being worked on ;) PMSL life is too short to worry about the past or stress about the future too much. be present in the day, absorb what is around you & just enjoy what you have. maybe it could be better but it certainly could be a hell of a lot worse! i have lost 3 family members in the past 8 weeks & my god that makes you realise we need to find the happiness & joy in all the moments we can each & every day :D
  13. how was fitting of the CAB ones Kev? did the need a different bracket or were they OEM fixings?
  14. morning m8 i have a word document for matrix replacement via dash removal which has lots of pictures & shows nearly all screw/fastening locations etc drop me a PM with your email addy if you want me to send it to you also, try to make sure you get a Valeo branded matrix if you can - they are meant to be the better brand for such
  15. good luck IIRC i think the blower was about £30 from ebay
  16. no problem happy to help. i have done them in both my VR & valver i doubt it is the dash switch but possibly. normally it is the blower motor if you get no response at all. if it only works on one or 2 of the settings it is the resistor jobbie that is mentioned on the guide i posted for you possibly but i doubt it
  17. hello there you can buy a replacement blower motor off ebay - part number 192959101 here is a guide on how to remove it http://website.lineone.net/~quigger/heater.htm it is a simple job with the exception of the locating tab on the blower motor itself. you have to press a tab upwards & then rotate the blower so as to remove it. the tab is at the rear right hand side IIRC
  18. i think you have hit 2 nails with one strike there Jim firstly - i dont know of many, if any, other car owners (or cars which make you do so) who ALWAYS turn to glance back at the rado as they walk away. i too do this every time & i catch myself sometimes just looking at them both on the drive for ages at a time secondly - i find myself actually not liking driving anything else, nothing quite feels like a rado cabin & there are so few cars out there today which can match the driving feeling & experience a rado offers - certainly none that i can really afford anyway
  19. lol it is funny how they have their own smell isnt it - the VR is different to the valver too i also have been know to go into my dads garage & open the door in there to get a whiff of the 70's interior - it still has the same presence as all those years ago
  20. tidy! i will speak to the gf about planning for it next year do they allow dogs at the festival do you know? reason is we have just gotten a springer puppy who was 8 weeks old on monday :D
  21. is that the one in Holland EJ? if it is then no not this year as the gf & i spent my 40th bday in the Dam in April but i definitely would like to go maybe next year
  22. ha ha ha me & my gf have had that very discussion!! lol
