  1. think eurocarparts does them for about £90: http://www.eurocarparts.com
  2. Schrick looks great and that rubber elbow from the actuator is very neat.
  3. The car won't run as the exploded isv damper has caused a vacuum leak. A temporary fix would be to connect the two hoses together.
  4. I've got German plates too and German number plate holder courtesy of a friendly dealer in Bitburg :)
  5. This particular Jetta used to slide a lot in the corners. Instead of the back end following the front like the Corrado handles, the backend used to slide a lot as if it was too light and counldn't counteract the weight of the heavier engine. In the Corrado the balance seems spot on and the heavy front end never seems to make the backend unstable. Even the mrk 2 16v can't match the rado for handling/feel. I think VW will have to do something really special to make a car which feels so good in every department.
  6. my mate had a mrk 2 jetta vr6 with the plus pack, corrado vr6 rear beam and vr6 suspension and it still didn't handle as well as my rado. Handling is all about feel and it didn't feel half as surefooted as a corrado. I prefer that you sit a lot lower in the rado whilst in a mrk 2 you sit high up with a more horizontal steering wheel. Not sure if it true but I think the rado is stiffer as the inner wings have been strengthened and the whole structure feels more rigid than the mrk 2.
  7. I say you have to compromise a bit when selling cars so I would accept £4250
  8. Probably a bit overpriced as it hasn't got leather and is one of the early cars. There are plenty around with better specs and lower mileages but it does look like it's in very good nick. Have the cylinder head and chains/tensioners been done?
  9. Unichip is £375 + vat from Stealth. rechip is £350 + vat. Do those prices include rolling raod time?

    THE Wheel page

    what are spigot rings?
  11. have you changed the thermostat? does the fan work ok? the oil is from the crankcase, this is normal, although not very satisfactory.
  12. The guy who owned the car before you was running the maf after the supercharger. This is bad news as it damages the filament and after a while gives poor readings and eventually leads to failure. So it could be the maf but as others have suggested, it's best to check for faults codes as it could be a number of things.
  13. for me it really is a toss up between the coupe and the C. but..... ive already had a turbo car so i want to sample the whhhooooooossssssshhhhhhhh of a G60  Fancy a supercharged vr6 as I'll be putting mine up for sale soon?
  14. I think the standard pump can handle quite a lot. The current supercharger kits use the stock pump and FPR up to at least 320 hp if not more. After that you could always use an inline pump.

    BO**OCKS!!!!

£150 + vat from bosch, £331 from vw
  16. The 2.8 engine already has a 3.5 bar FPR which should provide sufficient fuel pressure for the mods you have. I think that a higher pressure FPR is only required on FI engines when the fueling demands are significantly altered.
  17. the clutch is hydraulic but there might be some adjustment in the pedal.
  18. Sounds like the starter motor or possibly a dead/failing battery?
  19. have you got a laptop and mobilephone? :)
  20. the top tensioner is hydraulic and the lower is spring loaded. cast block without liners, vw don't do overbore pistons for the 2.9 so you have to rebore a 2.8 block or go to 3.0 or 3.1 using j@r pistons.
  21. Vr6s suffer from wear on bores 1 and 6 (check for oily plugs) and the cams are chain driven. By 100K the chain tensioners (mainly the top one) are pretty worn and should be replaced. Its a fairly big job as the gearbox has to come off. Cylinder heads need rebuilding at the same mileage. Some sensors may also need replacing as they begin failing at this mileage (the maf and cam sensors really). Other than that they are pretty sound. If you can find one which has had the chains and head done you'd be saving a lot of money and if these jobs haven't been done you could use them to negociate a better price.

there are some RK II's on this site: http://www.mmm-five.net/Corrado/corrado.html
  23. power steering pump, water pump and air con if you have it fitted.
  24. Woundn't have thought so as the chains are on the right hand side of the engine although the fact that the pumps weren't working might affect how the engine runs.
