  1. Thats the sole purpose of the rad fan. Dude, just drive your car, there is nowt wrong with it as far as I can see. Every watercooled car would overheat if it weren't for the the fan Gavin
  2. A difference in the earth contact between the engine and car can change the temp indication. Don't get hung up on the difference. Different antifreeze may account for a change as well, having water wetter in my G60 makes a difference. The fan not cutting in is your real issue. Gavin
  3. The blue white wire goes into the fusebox but without the gauges fitted stops there. You could find out which plug it comes out in but then it would be a big hassle to use it. I'd just run a fresh wire in. The 16V has that wrie too. Gavin

    288 brakes?

My 94 L 16V mk3 is 280s. I think all the oval side repeater cars got 288s either with 8, 16V or VR engines. Gavin
  5. Try the silencer box one, if it's no good get it from VW. Or check ETKA. Bolts are listed with the dimensions, like M6 X 70 or something. Gavin
  6. Blue/white is a redundant wire that feeds the oil pressure gauge if factory fitted. The green/black is for the oil temp sender. Gavin
  7. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :B:WN:UK:1 Alternative to the Jetta, not quite so modded up but not far off. Gvain
  8. Yeah they could be related. I cannot remember where the warning light is fed from, which is why I need to look at the diagrams. It might be a bad stalk or switch. Check all the fuses are good too, 4 in total. See if you can find the dim dip resistor, somewhere under the battery. Try disconnecting it. Gavin
  9. I think you have another snag there Arif. I need to look at some wiring diagrams, could be a bad earth somewhere. Loom in the post at 2pm. Gavin
  10. It's a looker that one Joe. It's worth a couple of grand for the engine and box. Personally I'd rather have a Golf but...................you could buy a cheap driver and swap the lot over in a couple of weekends. 200hp in a mk2 is pretty quick. I have been battered on trackdays a few times by Bill Brockbank  Gavin
  11. Red, the inserts screw out of the inlet manifold. You need a big old allen key, 10 or 12 mm. If the old ones come out no need for new ones. Not all those inserts are brass though, some are plastic and very brittle. I'd definately use new O rings on the injectors though. Snap on do a tool to pull the injectors without risking the pipework. Only cheap so I would advise buying one. The search has failed me though after 15 mins I have given up. Can't find it on the Snap on site either, it's in an obscure category. Gavin
  12. Sorry Mike, don't often go back looking at previous threads. 01257 249928 Also found idiots guide for VW/Scorpion 5000 alarm. Details programming of transmitters etc. Gavin
  13. I hope all those in Corrado forum land will adhere closely to the following. I know that I do. http://www.selfmadejournalist.com/newhighwaycode.htm Gavin
  14. The main spring does the suspension. the helper just stops the main spring from dislodging under weight off conditiond. From your description I think the rear shocks are too stiff. It may be worth checking that they are actually working correctly before spending money on springs. I'd have a hunt on the net and see what you can find ref suspension setting up. It would give you a better idea than what I have to say. Gavin
  15. 16Vs have hydraulic tappets like all the other motors for the last 20 years or so. With maybe diesels being an exception. Big cost if you get them from VW, about £20 each  GSF do them for £6 I think. Still nearly 100 quid for a set of 16.. I often see them for sale on ebay for a lot less. Gavin
  16. No idea fella. Springs are rated in lbs-inch. How many pounds of weight it takes to compress the spring an inch. 500 would be rock hard 100 would be dead soft. As for the right ones for a Corrado, I would be guessing. Better to test yours so you know here you stand. Then maybe go 20%????? Gavin
  17. You can get springs cheap from Demon Tweeks. All sorts of different rates and lengths. Might spend some time getting it right tho. You need to find out what rate/poundage the ones that are fitted are. Gavin

    Wishbones?

They would only be handed once the ball joint is fitted. Gavin
  19. Springs too stiff if the dampers can't cope. Have you spoken to your supplier? Gavin
  20. Try backing off the damping not increasing it. I would always start with it soft and increase to the right point.

  22. My mistake, although I haven't a MK2 manual handy. There should be a big brown that goes direct to the battery. There should also be a red/black somewhere, it might be at the coil. Gavin
  23. If its blowing ECUs then I'd be concerned about the engine earths. If the earths fail/go high resistance the weakest link is thru the ECU. Gavin
  24. Power to the ECU, goes straight to the battery. Big fat red.
  25. Try the top and bottom hoses for heat. The 2 litre in my Passat runs exceptionally cold according to the gauge. Try jumping the switch wiring to get the fan on. A pair of pointed pliers should do the job without burning yourself. Probably a fat red for the power in and jump that to the other 2 wires for the 2 speeds. Gavin
