  1. Could also be the water pump,or crack pipe, but you really need to have a good look when the engine is running and up to temp. The dripping coolant will often collect somewhere at the front and then end up as a puddle on the floor. Nothing worse as it;s so hard to track down.
  2. Radiator replaced and cooling system now functioning as expected. Not bad for a 22 year old radiator to keep running for so long.
  3. Yeah, all five were in before. Just two holding it on at the minute, one at the end and the centre one. I will try taking the whole thing off again and lining it up properly and see if that makes a difference.
  4. Can only get two screws back in to the reinforcing bar for the front splitter - any tips?
  5. Shiny new radiator in place - it is a Hella one - seems pretty good quality. Now filling and re-pressurizing the cooling system and checking for any leaks. Fingers crossed...
  6. Does anyone know the torque settings for the front bumper bolts off the top of their head? Cheers.
  7. Yeah, it's not too bad once you've done it a couple of times. The trick is to do any other bits that are then easy to get at while you have the front end off - oil cooler hoses and engine sensors and alternator etc. spring to mind. I've inspected all my power steering hoses and tightened them where needed.
  8. This is the sorry scene outside my house at the moment...
  9. The part# is 535121687 - VW Heritage are out of stock, dealers may have them, I found it on fleabay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313&_nkw=535121687&_sacat=0
  10. Would you use a little bit of sealant on the rad neck or just the circular seal that comes with it?
  11. I run Bilstein B6 dampers with H&R springs and it's a nice combination
  12. Not sure if there ever was a CD one for the Corrado - there was definitely one for the MkII/III Golfs though
  13. Do you know what the symptoms of the stuck thermostat were - stuck closed, rad never gets hot water, stuck open, rad circulates too soon.
  14. I've had the front end off the car before, so not worried about that. I also think I have a rad neck piece around that I can use. Will have a look at your thread for any tips. Going to order the radiator today.
  15. Cheers for that. Their price delivered to Ireland is €150 compared to the range from €220 to €350 I've been quoted over here. I've asked them to confirm if the one they supply is still Hella.
  16. Is that an English company? A quick google for "Ad Rad Radiators" turns up suppliers in Australia and New Zealand.
  17. Anyone got the Hella part# for the VR6 rad - have also heard about ones made by Nissens
  18. Sorry Jim - rad is still in the car. It's pretty tight when trying to get a look/feel at everything.
  19. Hoses seem tight and I can't feel any leaks there. I remember the plastic mounting lugs and washer from when I did the crack pipe. I'll double check it all again to be sure, but it seems to be coming from the bottom of the rad. Does anyone have the Hella part# for the radiator? Seem to remember a few on here getting one recently. Cheers and thanks for the quick replies.
  20. Hi all - had to be towed home two nights ago due to losing all of my coolant. Thankfully the engine did not overheat. Troubleshooting today and have the front of the car jacked up to have a look - and the leak seems to be coming from the radiator - specifically the round hole that you can see in the picture underneath the front valance. This looks like part of the radiator mount. Is it possible the fixing popped out due to frost or that there should be a plug of some sort here? I always use 60/40 water/G12+, so not sure why cold temps would have done this. Any help appreciated.
  21. Yeah, I've always used 60/40 water to G12+ in the cooling system. It seems to be worse when pressurised. I need to get the car on jack stands tomorrow or the next day and run it for a while and see if I can spot anything.
