  1. You can get them from VW alright - not expensive at all - but the problem is that the hose has to go through them.
  2. Hi Dogger, Have to say that the 70mm spoiler was a perfect fit and looks great - many thanks again - it should be a great help in negotiating the speedbumps and ramps we have here. The delivery and postage arrangements were first class as well. I'd recommend getting new mounting screws to anyone that is doing the swap and to use plenty of penetrating oil on any old ones as they will more than likely have seized with corrosion. If you want to fit the two left and right air ducts you will also have to drill some holes for the mounting screws - not an issue, although might be nice to have if you are considering a version 2 spoiler. most C's will probably have lost these anyway at this stage although they are still available from VW as of a few months ago. All in all a great product - I'd recommend it without any hesitation at all. Chris
  3. Just got Bilstein B6 shocks installed, the car sits a little high at the moment, but I'll wait to let them settle in and then consider some mild lowering springs if needed. Also fitted the Spoonfed 70mm spoiler, very impressed with the fit, it went straight on without any problems and looks great. I just need to put on the two air ducts when the rain stops - this will need some drilling for the screw holes.
  4. Sounds like a crack pipe or thermostat housing leak for the coolant, and the oil could be the camshaft seal or more likely the oil cooler seals.
  5. I think it's worth spending a bit extra for a quick lift jack - much easier to lift the car and a simple twist or a pedal will lower, rather than having to turn the release valve - I bought a Halford's 3 tonne one a few years ago and can't complain. It's heavy though, so yuo wouldn't be carrying it about much.
  6. I had this for a while and it seemed to be temperature and connector related - a good clean up of the connector, and a proper bleed ign of the pump seems to have sorted it - having said that, I'm sure it will be back as soon as I hit "post" on this.... lol;
  7. The video on youtube with the white one is hilarious - it's a real p*ss take of the your usual gangsta rap rolling on big wheels with booty babes all around - lol
  8. It's only 5th gear that I'd like a bit longer for extended motorway cruising - I usually stay in 4th for the naughty stuff!
  9. Are these gear boxes just usable on G60 cars or would it fit a VR as well ?
  10. A bit of a low down on current spec and future plans: At the moment we have, - Lupo wiper conversion - uprated headlight loom - VW volt/oil pressure gauges in centre console - low temp fan switch - Passat cupholder - Milltek exhaust - 288mm front brakes and Mk4 rears with braided hoses - Bilstein B6 front and rear shocks - Spoonfed 70mm front spoiler - Gamma IV radio with Ipod input - middle sunroof visor Once I have time, - CD changer install - Cruise control - US spec third brake light - electric headlight adjusters - car phone kit - US spec rear brake light - paint retouch - Cams and map - sunroof repair - underseal - MkII scuttle panel - Pollen filter and the list goes on....
  11. Same here - I try to work from home as much as I can - and especially as my employer won't give me a parking permit because I'm a contractor
  12. Yeah - very polite of you - it's just a scuff anyway - will get it sorted soon - just need a paint shop that won't mess up the colour match. And I bet as soon as it's done it will happen again!
  13. Another picture from the same meet in Ireland - note the lovely scuff marks on the bumper!
  14. I'm not planning to sell if I can help it anyway - only fear is it getting damaged in an accident and trying to put it right - it would be nice though to have people coming up to you in a few years and offering you crazy money. I think it's better not to be in the car ownership business for investment purposes unless you really know what your doing - buy gold and bury it in the garden instead!
  15. @sprinterVR6: that's a nice Storm - I love the green/beige combination, but price is anybody's guess - hell, if it's low enough I'd even go there myself at the risk of a divorce, although I should really be buying an 8v for economy's sake.
  16. I'd say you don't really want a used one - will just break again - you can still get the sunroof repair kit from VAG.
  17. Mine is a daily and having owned a 1990 Mk2 Golf GTI and an'87 Audi Coupe Quattro (mmmm, inline five) I'm fairly happy to have a go at most things from oil changes to head gaskets myself, it's just a matter of time, patience and the right tools for the job - but sadly have no garage and am at the mercy of the weather - which is my excuse for not having repaired my sunroof yet - lol:
  18. Well - we tend to know out stuff, and have the excellent buyer's guide from here to hand. I looked at 10 VR's in Ireland before I bought and all of them were either - overpriced - not original - in bits - all usual gremlins present all at once - had crash damage and would have needed in excess of 2500 euro spent, if lucky, to put them into half decent nick. Plus a tired car doesn't inspire you with much confidence in the service history. In the end I paid a good bit over the odds for an original low mileage car with good service history and a feeling of honesty about it and am very happy with it. You get what you pay for and you should always budget for the extra cost in dealing with age, resprays etc. If you're serious about keeping the car you need to get it done right (glass out respray, new parts where available etc.) and be prepared to pay for it, or spend long hours/days weeks with no C and a steep learning curve for DIY. IMHO
  19. It sits ahead of them when down - when it's up the normal visors wont't sit all the way up against the screen, but only by a little bit - but I guess if it's sunny you'd probably have all three down anyway.
  20. Not sure for certain - I think they rely on a sunroof motor cover, and it's the early visor you want - maybe someone with G60 or a 16V can help to confirm ? I only have my 93 VR facelift to check against.
  21. Here's a comparison shot of the two sunvisors - as you can see the later one is narrower, and will clear the mirror on facelift cars, the wider one will clear the mirror on pre-facelift ones. If you want to adapt the mount from the earlier one, you will need to carefully widen the cutout by a few mm to make it fit.
  22. This is part of my current security system - a big stonking motorbike chain with padlock - also have immobiliser and alarm - sad days when you need to do this kind of stuff. You can also see the Gamma IV radio.
  23. Used daily or every other day I'm afraid - hence it's nice and dirty now and has a child seat in the back! It's going for a paint touch up in the summer and then a nice coat of wax. At the same time I prefer to drive it rather than let it sit - it had 36k on it when I bought it, and I've put 13k on it in 2 years, so not too bad. I wasn't sure about the grey interior when I looked at it first, but it goes really well with the pearl grey. ---------- Post added at 08:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:00 PM ---------- @tony_ack: yeah it's a nice colour - see you have an Atlas Grey Golf in your sig - my MkII GTI was the same.
  24. These were it's former friends - only my wife's Golf V 1.6 remains - the Audi Coupe Quattro has gone off to be dismembered and be turned into a track car and the MkII Golf has moved to a new home for a refurb.
  25. Some later pics - and the interior - my Nakamichi was stolen one night when both windows were smashed and it's now a VW Gamma IV cassette deck with green illumination.
