  1. I managed to get one through http://www.busdepot.com. a US parts supplier - they have an online catalog, and also http://www.gpcvwaudi.com/ - that was a long while ago though, so it might have to be eBay, but worth a try.
  2. No - there only seems to be a single part number - maybe it was only ever for LHD cars - most of the cupholders I've seen seem to come from the US or Germany.
  3. I have a Passat one in mine - you can get them from some third party suppliers in the UK, German eBay and from the states. I find it really handy - don't try sticking it on, it's supposed to be held on with two trim screws. I used to have 2 black ones and one grey one, and will keep the black and sell the grey if anyone is interested - only problem is the grey does not quite match if the interior is older than the holder and could do with a little darkening.
  4. It's not loud - but with the ignition on you should hear a gentle hum as the pump works away - testing voltage on the plug is your best bet. I usually run these kind of things off the car as a test before fitting. Mine was making a terrible rattling noise before I replaced it.
  5. Count me in on this as well please, if all works out - and fair play to you for your effort in looking int this for us. BTW - do they make the binnacle trim covers too by any chance ?
  6. Some info here on an aftermarket system - haven't gotten around to fitting it yet. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?46616-Retrofit-GRA-Cruise-Control&highlight=cruise+control
  7. I have one, but can't find it at the moment. As I recall, one side clips into the side of the glovebox, and the other under the dash trim beside the radio - there's also one that fits over the radio. I think the whole point of them was that you did not need to use any screws - fitting instructions are here : http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/fitting_Instructions/Proclip.asp?Brodit=651903&Make=Volkswagen&Model=Corrado
  8. Brodit used to sell a holder that would fit a Corrado/Passat dash without any mounting screw holes - think it was called the Pro-Clip.
  9. Normal one is fine - I run them - you can get them in Halfrauds easily enough as well as they are used on some Jap jallopies as well.
  10. cheers for the info - reckon I might go for a new set of Bilstein B3 springs then to even out the damping and complement the B6 shocks.
  11. Couple of ideas - if you have access to an air gun blow some compressed air through the flexi hose attachment - penetrating oil and some taps from a rubber mallet - use a calliper rewind tool to see if you can crack it by winding it in slightly
  12. Can anyone help to explain the implications of fitting new shocks and new springs at the same time vs old springs with new shocks ? How will it affect height and ride - will the car be higher or lower, obviously it's best to do both, but can't get it straight in my head how the two interact ? Cheers,
  13. @boost monkey: it's wrapped around under the passenger seat frame - not impossible to remove if you have time and a quiet place where you won't be seen, but a major deterrent. Most car thieves don't carry bolt cutters, and will look for easier pickings, so it's just another layer of defence. Although I have seen some remove the steering wheel and bring a spare one !
  14. Just fitted a new passenger side window slot seal - got it from ARZ. The old one had been damaged after a break in, so was always popping up when the window was raised/lowered, and in any case got wrecked taking it off. The new one sits well, I fitted it carefully and used a flat piece of wood and a rubber mallet with gentle persuasion to locate it properly. The triangular trim piece behind the mirror on the outside was a real pain to get off and back on though - is there a "Corrado trick" for this ?
  15. That's strange - they were on Sciroccos, MkIIs etc. I should have a spare one somewhere - driver's side ?
  16. The 54 mm are fine - with the 57 mm you don't need new hoses, you can reuse or replace with original ones. Here's a pic of 288s on, afaik these are the 54mm ones.
  17. They cost pennies from the dealer, GSF or ebay. You will also need a small spring clip that helps to hold it on.
  18. Ah - if anyone can confirm years or part numbers I will look into getting the shorter ones to fix my current 4 x 4 stance
  19. Wondering if anyone can help out here - the family album shows several different types of VR springs, were they different over the years and do they come in different lenghts ?
  20. You can get them from VW alright - not expensive at all - but the problem is that the hose has to go through them.
  21. Hi Dogger, Have to say that the 70mm spoiler was a perfect fit and looks great - many thanks again - it should be a great help in negotiating the speedbumps and ramps we have here. The delivery and postage arrangements were first class as well. I'd recommend getting new mounting screws to anyone that is doing the swap and to use plenty of penetrating oil on any old ones as they will more than likely have seized with corrosion. If you want to fit the two left and right air ducts you will also have to drill some holes for the mounting screws - not an issue, although might be nice to have if you are considering a version 2 spoiler. most C's will probably have lost these anyway at this stage although they are still available from VW as of a few months ago. All in all a great product - I'd recommend it without any hesitation at all. Chris
  22. Just got Bilstein B6 shocks installed, the car sits a little high at the moment, but I'll wait to let them settle in and then consider some mild lowering springs if needed. Also fitted the Spoonfed 70mm spoiler, very impressed with the fit, it went straight on without any problems and looks great. I just need to put on the two air ducts when the rain stops - this will need some drilling for the screw holes.
  23. Sounds like a crack pipe or thermostat housing leak for the coolant, and the oil could be the camshaft seal or more likely the oil cooler seals.
  24. I think it's worth spending a bit extra for a quick lift jack - much easier to lift the car and a simple twist or a pedal will lower, rather than having to turn the release valve - I bought a Halford's 3 tonne one a few years ago and can't complain. It's heavy though, so yuo wouldn't be carrying it about much.
  25. I had this for a while and it seemed to be temperature and connector related - a good clean up of the connector, and a proper bleed ign of the pump seems to have sorted it - having said that, I'm sure it will be back as soon as I hit "post" on this.... lol;
