Any thoughts on Bilstein shocks with H&R springs on a VR6 - I have a set of B6s fitted to mine, but woudl like to lower it a little bit and am considering the 30mm green VR springs.

Had to replace the radiator fan guide ring today - still available from VAG - as it was broken and was making a very embarassing racket when leaving the car anywhere. The fun part is doing it without removing the radiator (and bumper etc)!
-
Security device - it's wrapped about the seat stay and I lock the steering wheel with it.

Here's what the grey one looks like in my car - as you can see, not an exact match:

Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE

Hi Dave - can I please order one of each (passenger and driver's door) from you, with postage to Ireland ? If you can PM me the details that would be great. -
Another update - my rear bumper corner got scuffed in a car park recently - of course no way to get any justice as the culprit was well gone. Rather than clainming on my insurance, I decided to have a go myself, as a stop gap until the car is resprayed. I managed to get a very good match for the paint and am reasonably happy so far - I need to do some more sadning and blending, and finish it off with another coat of laquer.

I managed to get one through http://www.busdepot.com. a US parts supplier - they have an online catalog, and also http://www.gpcvwaudi.com/ - that was a long while ago though, so it might have to be eBay, but worth a try.
-
No - there only seems to be a single part number - maybe it was only ever for LHD cars - most of the cupholders I've seen seem to come from the US or Germany.
-
I have a Passat one in mine - you can get them from some third party suppliers in the UK, German eBay and from the states. I find it really handy - don't try sticking it on, it's supposed to be held on with two trim screws. I used to have 2 black ones and one grey one, and will keep the black and sell the grey if anyone is interested - only problem is the grey does not quite match if the interior is older than the holder and could do with a little darkening.
-
It's not loud - but with the ignition on you should hear a gentle hum as the pump works away - testing voltage on the plug is your best bet. I usually run these kind of things off the car as a test before fitting. Mine was making a terrible rattling noise before I replaced it.

Some info here on an aftermarket system - haven't gotten around to fitting it yet. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?46616-Retrofit-GRA-Cruise-Control&highlight=cruise+control

I have one, but can't find it at the moment. As I recall, one side clips into the side of the glovebox, and the other under the dash trim beside the radio - there's also one that fits over the radio. I think the whole point of them was that you did not need to use any screws - fitting instructions are here : http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/fitting_Instructions/Proclip.asp?Brodit=651903&Make=Volkswagen&Model=Corrado
-
Brodit used to sell a holder that would fit a Corrado/Passat dash without any mounting screw holes - think it was called the Pro-Clip.
-
Normal one is fine - I run them - you can get them in Halfrauds easily enough as well as they are used on some Jap jallopies as well.
-
cheers for the info - reckon I might go for a new set of Bilstein B3 springs then to even out the damping and complement the B6 shocks.
-
Couple of ideas - if you have access to an air gun blow some compressed air through the flexi hose attachment - penetrating oil and some taps from a rubber mallet - use a calliper rewind tool to see if you can crack it by winding it in slightly

Can anyone help to explain the implications of fitting new shocks and new springs at the same time vs old springs with new shocks ? How will it affect height and ride - will the car be higher or lower, obviously it's best to do both, but can't get it straight in my head how the two interact ? Cheers,
-
@boost monkey: it's wrapped around under the passenger seat frame - not impossible to remove if you have time and a quiet place where you won't be seen, but a major deterrent. Most car thieves don't carry bolt cutters, and will look for easier pickings, so it's just another layer of defence. Although I have seen some remove the steering wheel and bring a spare one !

Just fitted a new passenger side window slot seal - got it from ARZ. The old one had been damaged after a break in, so was always popping up when the window was raised/lowered, and in any case got wrecked taking it off. The new one sits well, I fitted it carefully and used a flat piece of wood and a rubber mallet with gentle persuasion to locate it properly. The triangular trim piece behind the mirror on the outside was a real pain to get off and back on though - is there a "Corrado trick" for this ?
-
That's strange - they were on Sciroccos, MkIIs etc. I should have a spare one somewhere - driver's side ?

Best 288mm Brake Upgrade. Passat or Golf Calipers?
fendervg replied to science's topic in Drivetrain
The 54 mm are fine - with the 57 mm you don't need new hoses, you can reuse or replace with original ones. Here's a pic of 288s on, afaik these are the 54mm ones. -
They cost pennies from the dealer, GSF or ebay. You will also need a small spring clip that helps to hold it on.
-
Ah - if anyone can confirm years or part numbers I will look into getting the shorter ones to fix my current 4 x 4 stance
-
Wondering if anyone can help out here - the family album shows several different types of VR springs, were they different over the years and do they come in different lenghts ?
