  1. I've just paid a ridiculous amount of cash to put four new 205/50/15 tyres on the VR6 - i'm feeling like I was raped by the laws of supply and demand now! A question for those that have run 195/50/15s on their VR's - how did they find them and were there any problems with grip and handling ? I could have got Michelin Pilot Exaltos in that size for just over half the price of the spec tyres! I'd really loke t be able to do this when the time comes around for the next change. Incidentally, I'm running P6000s and have no issues at all - I've had P5000s and 6000s both on my Mark II GTI and Audi quattro coupe for years and have never had any issues with grip in the wet.
  2. Now on 57,961 miles - it was 36,200 when I got it 2 and a half years ago.
  3. Apparently some late cars had a loom installed already - but I think that wire you mention is there anyway - I know I had to run up a loom myself after forlornly searching for one befind the centre console. The german site is handy because they sell all the bits, but if you can find the right 2-pole sender, you won't need them.
  4. Only joking! - but on a serious note it's really great that you guys who have the relevant experience are doing this - it would resolve one of the long standing issues with the C when it comes to suspension.
  5. Really interesting to watch this progress. Are we going to send the CADs to China ?
  6. There used to be a guy in Germany that made really high quality looms - including the fogs - but they were expensive. Not sure if he still does them: http://www.lichttuning.homepage.t-online.de/relaissatz/v6/daten.htm
  7. Got the box from Maplin's - you can also get the plastic screw on grommets there for where the wires come in - not sure if I'd test mine in the bath though! lol:
  8. I waterproofed mine by wrapping all the connectors in self-amalgamating tape and loom wrap - stuck the relays into a waterproof plastic box - have not had any problems with it in 2 and a half years, and it rains a lot over here in Ireland - you can find some pictures at the end of this thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?45477-Uprated-loom-and-sidelights-question&p=638858&viewfull=1#post638858
  9. You can order off the German classic parts site quite easily - order the item on the web site and they will get back to you by email with a shipping quote. Then pay by international bank transfer (they give you all the details).
  10. The ARZ gauge is a VAG part. All you get is the gauge panel itself - you need to source the wiring, plug and sender yourself. You can either go for a single pole sender with a banjo extension and keep your existing low pressure warning sender, or you can get a two pole version that will do both.
  11. I'll take another one of these as well please if there are any available. Many thanks.
  12. Cheers - will give that a try when I'm getting it done.
  13. Anyone have any ideas on the best camber and alignment values to use with a 30mm drop with standard height Bilstein B6s on 15 inch Speedlines ? The wishbones are sitting parallel to the ground and I'm wondering if the stock VR values will work.
  14. There are two different types of bolts holding on the splitter - a large shouldered one (5 I think) and 4 smaller silver ones that are self tapping.
  15. There are two types - a smaller triangular one that came on the lower end models and a left/right sided one that is longer and retains the seat belt. This one was found on higher end models like the GLs and GTIs. They are held on with a small spring clip which always gets lost, but is available from the dealer. Without the clip it will always just fall off after a while. I'm pretty sure GSF sell both types, and VAG have them in stock as well.
  16. I bought two fan guide rings about 6 weeks ago - plenty showing as available on back order from Germany. They're not a Corrado specific part.
  17. I am now running the B6s with the green H&R VR6 springs. The B6s are standard height shocks, and with the (albeit old) stock springs had the same comfort level with improved handling. Funnily the car sat a good bit higher than on the standard shocks - possibly the stock springs were tired. Then I fitted the H&Rs to get a 30mm drop, and this gave me nice visual effect and slightly lower ride height. The ride quality is only a little bit harsher, certainly not crashy, and I've had no comments on it from passengers that are often in the car. As driver, I don't feel any noticeable difference in comfort vs stock - not sure about the handling at the moment, but I am waiting for it all to settle and will do alignment and tracking/camber then - problem is, can we go with stock values, or do these need to change ? The Bilstein stuff is excellent quality and I can't fault it - just be aware that they use Eibach springs in the B12 kit, which may be even harsher than the H&Rs. My car is a 93, so it probably left the factory lower than the later cars, it has the "plus" setup, but it's very hard to identify the correct components in ETKA as there is a selection of springs there - and most aftermarket springs are made as "one size fits all" of a particular model like the VR. Having said all that, I feel that you can only really evaluate the handling of a 16+ year old car if you replace everything in the suspension (shocks, springs, wishbones, bushes, ball joints, mounts etc.) with new OEM parts first, before messing with upgrades - I did that to my Golf GTI and the transformation was impressive - and then you can really appreciate the car's handling as it would have come out of the factory. I'm tempted to stock up on VAG suspension parts as well as I will probably go back to original at some stage (just need to save the money ;) probably the guts of €1500 ). Of the mods I've made, the Milltek exhaust and suspension haven't really made enough of a difference over stock to be worthwhile for the way I drive the car, and it's my daily - and can even have some downsides in some cases. 288 brakes, headlight loom and wipers are worth it though. It seems to be very difficult to get the balance just right in terms of suspension setup on the C, because of the aesthetics and ride height vs handling - I guess they made it that way for a reason, as the best compromise. That's also why this thread is so long...
  18. I have a Gamma IV, and use one of these cables for the CD changer, you can also get an iPod adapter that emulates a changer, but you can't have them both connected at the same time. http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p71_c185_186_CD-Wechslerkabel-VW---5m---Bis-April-1998.html
  19. Arrived today - many thanks again Matt for all your hard work organising, and really making it happen - it's this kind of thing that makes enthusiast forums worthwhile.
  20. The MFA is not the most accurate as it takes vacuum and distance driven into account - I was getting 27.8 average on MFA2 over a year, and 30.1 over the last 7 days commute.
  21. Nakamichi or Becker if you want high end - or else there's the Gamma IV with an ipod aux adapter or CD changer Kev - I know the Nak CD300/500 have switchable red/orange/green illumination, or the older CD35/45 units came with either a green lit or orange lit pop off faceplate.
  22. Probably too many pad discussions on the forum ! found it - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?48221-Recommended-G60-VR6-pads/page2&highlight=DS2500
  23. Kev, I thought you swore by DS2500s ? How do you find the VAG ones compared to them ? Obviously price is a major difference.

I had a look, but it's way over-priced. £1000 maybe would be more reasonable. Would be nice to have though.
  25. Well, that's what they cost, I think it's actually not a bad price, when you consider that individual VDO gauges will set you back £30-40 without the mounting. I don't think China is an option, as they don't have Corrado specific parts, only parts that are also found in other VW's that they still make over there.
