  1. There are two different types of bolts holding on the splitter - a large shouldered one (5 I think) and 4 smaller silver ones that are self tapping.
  2. There are two types - a smaller triangular one that came on the lower end models and a left/right sided one that is longer and retains the seat belt. This one was found on higher end models like the GLs and GTIs. They are held on with a small spring clip which always gets lost, but is available from the dealer. Without the clip it will always just fall off after a while. I'm pretty sure GSF sell both types, and VAG have them in stock as well.
  3. I bought two fan guide rings about 6 weeks ago - plenty showing as available on back order from Germany. They're not a Corrado specific part.
  4. I am now running the B6s with the green H&R VR6 springs. The B6s are standard height shocks, and with the (albeit old) stock springs had the same comfort level with improved handling. Funnily the car sat a good bit higher than on the standard shocks - possibly the stock springs were tired. Then I fitted the H&Rs to get a 30mm drop, and this gave me nice visual effect and slightly lower ride height. The ride quality is only a little bit harsher, certainly not crashy, and I've had no comments on it from passengers that are often in the car. As driver, I don't feel any noticeable difference in comfort vs stock - not sure about the handling at the moment, but I am waiting for it all to settle and will do alignment and tracking/camber then - problem is, can we go with stock values, or do these need to change ? The Bilstein stuff is excellent quality and I can't fault it - just be aware that they use Eibach springs in the B12 kit, which may be even harsher than the H&Rs. My car is a 93, so it probably left the factory lower than the later cars, it has the "plus" setup, but it's very hard to identify the correct components in ETKA as there is a selection of springs there - and most aftermarket springs are made as "one size fits all" of a particular model like the VR. Having said all that, I feel that you can only really evaluate the handling of a 16+ year old car if you replace everything in the suspension (shocks, springs, wishbones, bushes, ball joints, mounts etc.) with new OEM parts first, before messing with upgrades - I did that to my Golf GTI and the transformation was impressive - and then you can really appreciate the car's handling as it would have come out of the factory. I'm tempted to stock up on VAG suspension parts as well as I will probably go back to original at some stage (just need to save the money ;) probably the guts of €1500 ). Of the mods I've made, the Milltek exhaust and suspension haven't really made enough of a difference over stock to be worthwhile for the way I drive the car, and it's my daily - and can even have some downsides in some cases. 288 brakes, headlight loom and wipers are worth it though. It seems to be very difficult to get the balance just right in terms of suspension setup on the C, because of the aesthetics and ride height vs handling - I guess they made it that way for a reason, as the best compromise. That's also why this thread is so long...
  5. I have a Gamma IV, and use one of these cables for the CD changer, you can also get an iPod adapter that emulates a changer, but you can't have them both connected at the same time. http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p71_c185_186_CD-Wechslerkabel-VW---5m---Bis-April-1998.html
  6. Arrived today - many thanks again Matt for all your hard work organising, and really making it happen - it's this kind of thing that makes enthusiast forums worthwhile.
  7. The MFA is not the most accurate as it takes vacuum and distance driven into account - I was getting 27.8 average on MFA2 over a year, and 30.1 over the last 7 days commute.
  8. Nakamichi or Becker if you want high end - or else there's the Gamma IV with an ipod aux adapter or CD changer Kev - I know the Nak CD300/500 have switchable red/orange/green illumination, or the older CD35/45 units came with either a green lit or orange lit pop off faceplate.
  9. Probably too many pad discussions on the forum ! found it - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?48221-Recommended-G60-VR6-pads/page2&highlight=DS2500
  10. Kev, I thought you swore by DS2500s ? How do you find the VAG ones compared to them ? Obviously price is a major difference.

I had a look, but it's way over-priced. £1000 maybe would be more reasonable. Would be nice to have though.
  12. Well, that's what they cost, I think it's actually not a bad price, when you consider that individual VDO gauges will set you back £30-40 without the mounting. I don't think China is an option, as they don't have Corrado specific parts, only parts that are also found in other VW's that they still make over there.
  13. If it's for a pre facelift car you're out of luck - for a VR they are still available new from ARZ tuning, that's where I got mine, and ebay as well - just make sure you get the correct one - they come for RHS and LHS.
  14. Welcome to the forum - good to see another member from Ireland - I'm in Dublin, and you're welcome to drop by for a chat or a dig out with tools etc. any time.
  15. Eibach springs are firmer than the H&Rs - I run H&R springs with a 30mm drop with Bilstein B6 dampers on OEM Speedlines with 205/50/15 tyres as per spec and there is very little difference to standard ride quality, except on very bad surfaces. Wheel size and tyres are the biggest factor in imho - go back to 15s and you will notice a real difference.
  16. Are there any branches in Northern Ireland or is it just mainland UK ?
  17. Yeah - I was going to say that ABS cars have an orange light on the dash that won't go off!
  18. IOk - I'll see if I need to back them off a bit - when I fitted them I did the usual checks to see if I could move the washer with a screw driver etc.
  19. I have a press - so the bearings were put in properly - doesn't go when turning - and you can't hear it at low speed. They are VAG bearings - wouldn't use any other ones.
  20. The C has developed a slight speed dependent whine - not too loud but definitely noticeable at higher speeds. Things that were changed recently were rear wheel bearings, new pads and discs all round and gearbox oil - any ideas if these could be the cause ? The bearings are tight and the gearbox was filled with 2L of MT-90.
  21. I did this last week - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?55703-fendervg-s-VR6-a.k.a-quot-The-Beast-quot-NCT-passed!/page3 -might be useful.
  22. Hmmmm. Didn't realise you had aircon - in that case the front and rad will have to come off - will be easier in the long run.
  23. You can but the seals on their own - not expensive. You can also do it with the hoses on if you can get the car high up with access from below.
