    Phil,its sounds like you have kept up with the maintinance even though the miles are high, could you find another in the same nick for 2k? I would consider moving it on for that though.

    I would always change a cam belt myself regardless if 'its just been done' smokey engines,crunchy gearboxes water in the footwell. AS long as its straight valvers appear to me to be very hardy

    I had the same problems,it leaked so had to be refitted. The seal comes with the screen so you shouldnt have to ask for a new one Mine was supplied and fitted twice by RAC windscreens. I would watch what they do to the scuttle black panel below the windscreen,they managed to crack mine :roll: :agrue: :agrue: :mad2: :mad: Livid was not the word! :cry:

    Probably a TDI of some sort, the VW is very faithful and it wont be going anywhere in the near future.

    Im in Agreement with the four digit code being the court code. Also Im surprised I got booked for a sp40 exceeding the speed statutory limit for a hgv but not the speed limit for the road in a car; weird eh Maybe the codes have changed as it was in 1989

    Ive just cleaned The wifes car,its taken ages with me lazily leaving the splits on this year. This cars lovely and sorry I never yet saw it in the flesh. Roy

    check for coolant useage first. Water in the oil = not good water seeping out through block = err not good. white smoke wont be a good sign either. I tend to get the changed around 100k but the last vw lasted 180K before it was required and funds were available to fix.

    Ive the same Problems with the bonnet,it needs buffed up or just fades. Nugget,Blackberry or mystic are probably the best colours out there.
