Quickest car you've been in, owned and most interesting....
chubbybrown replied to NickVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Driven a RS200 and a RS500 Rs200 had a misfire and I only used the first two gears. Had the RS500 flat out in top. As for owning a Cosworth of course,oh and a mk1 turbo escort :-D A long time ago back before I had kids, eldest is 15 now lol chubbz -
My record is 47 minutes Inverness To Ballinuig :D (82 miles) Just watch for the red, blue and white vans parked in the laybys
-
Try coming up the A9, its a 100 mile stretch between Inverness and Perth Tesco,Asda,Morrisons,Calorgas are a few that I can ring off, that Do stick to the national speed limit for Lgv's as they now call them. Chicken and Egg really.... You can speed or get done with having miles of traffic behind you,let common sense prevail. Also trucks from Ireland, Gurnsey and Jersey don't have to have speed limiters fitted. Any Truck in the European union should have a speed limiter fitted,be it Craibs in Aberdeen or willi betz out of Germany. Gurnsey and Jersey, unsure how large they are could use the 25 mile rule and work by Uk regs; My old Mob goes to Jersey and use a Tacho. Speed limiters are not easily disconnected if they are they have been using computer software changing the settings on the ECU. Its not as easy as it used to be, when you used to just remove the fuse, nothing needed to be undone. Anyone, speeding is doing themselves out of money,if your paid by the hour obviously. It is possible to do 60 mph in a hgv even if going down a slight decline, weight momentum etc. Soon enough 7.5 tonners will have limiters and also any van as well so they day of the white van man are coming to an end. Same as tachos, the new trucks now have the chip tachos,so if your illegal to drive it wont let you ( as in too many hours etc) obviously they are an option,so some companies dont fit if they dont have to. after all this regulation, I thought sod it and got a job on the tankers at the airport. Sorted ! chubbz

YOu can get standalone sat navs from £99 in comet and halfrauds
-
Check the rubber seal is actually sitting in the base of the cap in the right place, they are known to not seat right. what temps is it showing. I replaced the waterpump, thermostat along with G12 as a precaution and even I managed it. I would also consider checking if the radiator is blocked. I would also check the oil for water contamination Roy

What do you hate the most about yer C????
chubbybrown replied to vr6storm's topic in General Car Chat
Err ok,on early models try getting out in a hurry and not kick the speaker cover off and the stupid rear wiper needs to be 'switched' twice for one wipe! lol -
I used to pur redex thru the top of carbs and watch it all come out the exhaust ( well if you could see the back of the car) also pour it into the spark plugs holes and see more carbon. I always thought it was banned as it was full of lead, obviously I was wrong. chubbz

chubbybrown replied to dinkus's topic in General Car Chat
Sorry about this dinkus.... Wouldnt it bash out and would save taking the wing off? -
failing that swop the bulbs over and see if they work opposite you might know you need a new bulb.
-
Do a search for headlight loom its a must do if you own a corrado as the headlights are crap with its original wireing. only 11 odd volts manage to make it to the bulbs and the newer loom with relays etc boosts it back up so you can actaully see where your going and change that dull dull yellow light back to white. so use the search !!

chubbybrown replied to Supercharged's topic in General Car Chat
OptimaX is your friend :-D -
get the banjo conversion kit from C+R Mk4 calipers, just the ordinary ones. You can use corrado pads too. I changed the handbrake cable whilst I was at it. There is a long exhaustive thread here talking about mm's of differance between certain kinds of vw pads,I kept it simple and cheaper. Roy
-
Id consider going for mk4 calipers with goodridge hoses, the wifes car hada caliper seize and we have never had trouble since with the mk4's thats a £100+ in parts already. you could as said before nip up the back wheel bearings, were they noisy ? Our exhaust had a hole in it too,we just gum gummed it and its still holding a year later,I just cant justify £200 for a stainless one for the end. At the end of the day mate, are you keeping it or selling it? Thats how I tend to decide if Im keeping up with it or giving in. Roy
-
Id agree why fix up a valver when you can get what you really want.
-
If anyone wants to see what i replaced the corrado with....
