yeah i know a bit about it. i found this page pretty useful for info; http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1980960 not sure how bad my rear brake lines are under all the grease - thats the main thing im worried about really cant be bothered with replacing them. id rather live with a slight pull to the left
-
guess they just dont like me then  he said he would gove me 15% discount on that. ta very much. i will do some reading up on them, thank you. been given the idea of a college in nuneaton, the teacher is supposed to be a dab hand and does the work (himself) for a good price.
-
sounds like a plausable explanation. i will have a good poke round on thursday. i presume they are fairly simple to change as the rear beam is easy enough to remove completely. anything i should be aware of?

mole grips is the standard name for them i think. you can have a bash with easy outs - not so easy but i think they do a differnt type for allen key style and they work pretty well. -
i went down to ask for a quote earlier today to spray bonnet/wings and two small patches on the roof. the bodyshop chap did say "the prices we charge are extortionate" not the best sales technique in my book, but what do i know. just recieved the email £1750  they would require the car for 5 days and no courtesy car included. wtf? i know its vw, but im failry sure i could get a pretty damn good respray of the whole car for that sort of price. anywhere midlands based people can reccomend?

i was paying them to adjust camber and tracking. the printout of before and after confirms this is what they have changed. the rear wheels point out, so to speak but the fronts are now fairly spot on according to the print out.
-
yeah i figured that  but what bulls*it excuse will they some up with to say its done as best as they can do it? how do i argue my point with them so to speak?
-
and now my car pulls to the left??? not majorily, but it didnt do it before. should i take it back? and also they said there is no way to adjust the rear wheels as its on a beam, but charged me for the adjustment anyway.....cheers

took my car to work and have had nothing but chufties. to quote a few; "thats a proper classic" "the voice of the engine sounds nice, yeah" (polish bloke  ) "i always liked them" and my favourite so far "what the f*ck have you done to it, it goes like stink" made the last few months seem worth it to be honest.

this is what you need in your life. its the dogs nuts. http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/Loctite_454_General_Purpose___Gel-898-p?shopping

dont know to be honest, my concern was the colour of the ticket being printed for my car. ill ask but i dont think they will be overly willing to tell me, i wouldnt expect them to give out details of my car to someone over the phone. dont really see why it matters though, its on the form as a fail so it can be used as a fail. if it cant be used then fair play i will do what i can to inform them they are wrong,

grey? is it really? think i need my eyes testing it looks green to me? i vote for anything with racing stripes down it. cleary makes it go fatser. and yes i am jealous of the lad over the road in a c2, he even forgot to do the bumpers when he put stripes down his bag of. but it looks so cool
-
fair enough for the entire sum 0f £8 i think i can risk it for a biscuit
-
cant promise but i think it was 7.0 ? could be wrong. i can ring them on monday if it means that much to you.
-
now thats a bargain. well spotted. i have no sound at the mo, do they do sound? or am i pushing my look?
-
 i suggest you chew me off cat fail.jpg[/attachment:3igz4fs7] asked today when i picked mine up. they had failed one for that reason today. mine passed though so i dont give a fook!
-
Sorry mate but thats tosh. There is nothing that states a cat must be fitted merely the car must pass the CAT emissions test. sadly its not tosh. ask any mot garage if the fail text "no cat fitted - emissions not tested" exists or not. (wording may be slightly different) whether the tester chooses to follow this or not is a different matter. like i said it CAN be failed.
-
your car can be failed for not having a cat (car post aug 92). an mot tester is not required to perform the emissions test if they spot this. the only exception to this rule is if the engine is pre aug 92 in a post aug 92 car (you must prove this though). doesnt work the other way round unless your tester is dumb/visually impared.

thanks for the offer but i told them to crack on with it this morning as they said it would be done today. phone call at 5:30 to say its not ready. balls.
-
well didnt even make mot. brakes have been fading and generally feeling poor last few weeks. i bled the fook out of them but didnt improve. i asked them to pressurise the system before mot to get any remaining air out - none in there. master cylinder fooked. doh. they said £150 fitted, does that seem about right? i really cant be bothered with changing this in the rain so im tempted to go with it.

manufactured, probably not. first registered as above

Can VR driveshafts be removed without touching suspension?
mimjed replied to Andy T's topic in Drivetrain
mine came off with an 18 and a 19. i use 6 sided rather than the multi ones though. i got one for the polo from vw with the bearing already installed. saved alot of hasstle for me as i dont own a press.
