  1. i sent my old dear when she went shopping today, none available at all from hinckley halfrauds. not even with the handle on
  2. yeah ive never found a 7mm allen key other than in a handle set so far. but yes i will be doing the same thing essentially tomorrow :D
  3. so your saying do the work on the top side of it. would a crow bar work as the holding part? i only have one big hammer :( my favourite tool as well also known as the birmingham spanner
  4. right sort of tool. wrong sizes by the description. this is the right sort of socket http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/-Sealey-Tools-Lambda-Probe-Oxygen-Sensor-Socket-22mm-_W0QQitemZ300391565229QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=&rvr_id=&cguid=d5a7564c1240a0aad0e4f1b4fec2fada but im going to butcher a spare 22mm tomorrow instead.
  5. i always thought taking the pipe off between charger and airbox was the best way to tell. looking for oil as stated previously. this is normally the first seal to go on the charger.
  6. horrible invention. 99% of them are illegal. made for chavs :pukeright:
  7. id rather crash than have hid's
  8. yeah i could have done but still need to get the bolt out of the hub to put the new ball joint in. would have bought both in an ideal world.
  9. your not wrong that would do the job. but im gunna butcher one of my 22's first. have spent enough money on the old girl today now.
  10. well the bolt for the ball joint is well and truly stuck, (would be because its the last one) ordered some irwins now. but while i was there i found a big old split in the steering rack gaiter, looks the same on nearside to. doh! have cut the old one out, new ones on the way. how do i get the arm out though? 18032010205.jpg[/attachment:123xoo76] do i give it a good wack upwards or do i go for it at the ball joint end?
  11. all sound like good plans have tried spark plug sockets but all seem to small, i need 22mm i think i may have solved my own problem though, im thinking grind two sides down on a 22mm socket so i can grab it with a large adjustable spanner then i still have the hole down the middle for the 7mm allen key.
  12. any ideas where i can get hold of one from? or possibly borrow one from someone if i pay for postage/insurance on it? it is the 22mm obe im after. cheers jim
  13. i have some used ones in the garage if your interested. there a little rusty but have plenty of life in them. not really looking for anything for them
  14. worth checking the offset on the disc if you are going for the mk4 ones. but if you are getting the mk3 ones then no
  15. just twigged, do i need a proper tool for the ball joint or can it be done without? i know there are different types
  16. yeah your right, but i can get them for free from work.
  17. good stuff, thanks. any idea as to the sizes of the bolts?
  18. as per title really. bushes are worn, ball joints on the way out. ive found a new pair with bushes /ball joints installed. so thinking about pulling the whole lot out and replacing. ball ache or not? any special tools? cheers jim
  19. logic says if it isnt signed its not valid, but you never know with coppers. if they twig on to it they will only try and shaft you with something else
  20. mine doing the same at the mo. getting on my tits too. ive checked all the and changed a few sensors but no joy as of yet. i did change isv for an incorrect one and predictably it ran poop. but when i put correct isv back on it was back to normal idle......now back to hunting again though. im thinking of ignition timing next. got cam belt to do anyway. give us a shout if you narrow it down
  21. as above, cv joints worth double checking. seals on doors also if it could possibly be wind related. if it was cracked manifold you would know by now as you would require a hearing aid or two
  22. yes i think that would work. theres a 4 stud to 5 stud write up on here somewhere...... think you need some spacers making up to go 312 as they fit the widetrack set up. obviously you need the 312 setup parts as well, gti's were 280 still i believe.
  23. why are the bolt sozes so random 11,14,16 etc why not 10, 13, 17 ,19. or am i missing the point?
