1. This. Problem solved. Kind of.

Hello

Welcome. Looks lovely :)
3. Black Corrado of unknown flavour on the A41/M25 junction today at 4pm.
4. Get it back on the road, join CCGB and take your 6 year old son to club meets and shows. My kids have extrenely fond memories of the shows I took them to. They are no longer so interested in coming with me as they are a bit older but only today they were telling me not to ever sell the car and how much they loved those shows with me.
5. Sad times. Good luck with the sale and I hope it goes to someone who will treat it well.
6. The Karmann badge below the gearstick on the centre console fell off after the years took their toll on the glue. Underneath it was a silver karmann badge  The Corrado was indeed from the era of over-engineered cars
7. I'm always surprised just how well the Corrado handles on nice roads. I took it up to Norfolk twice last week and frequently pulled away quickly from some modern cars as soon as I reached roundabouts or a series of bends.
8. I recall seeing them on VW Classic Parts but they seem to have changed their site recently and I can't see them now.
9. Another sort of chuftie today... it was the first time I've driven the car in months and a Mitsubishi estate car came past in the outside lane with a 20-something man leaning literally half way out of the passenger window trying to get a good look at it :)
10. A blue M reg VR (maybe a Storm?) in Croydon today. I was test driving an SLK so didn't wave. The car salesman was confused why I got so excited though :)
11. Wow! Hope there's no significant damager caused by it coming off.
12. Do you mean the two black plastic strips which run the length of the roof on each side? They are just a trim and even without them there are no holes for the water to leak into. Ther are just cosmetic to fill the gap where the weld points are. They just push into the gutter.
13. Sorry slightly delayed reply from me. Work and the rest of my life is manic right now so not getting much time to come to the forum. As I said I'm not a C++ or Arduino developer. But is the loop() function actually being called? I would have thought that there should be a call to it right after Serial.println("CAN BUS Shield init ok!"); such as below. I can't see it being called anywhere unless I have missed it: if(CAN_OK == CAN.begin(CAN_500KBPS)) // init can bus : baudrate = 500k { Serial.println("CAN BUS Shield init ok!"); // I WOULD EXPECT A CALL TO LOOP() HERE? } else { Serial.println("CAN BUS Shield init fail"); Serial.println("Init CAN BUS Shield again"); delay(100); goto START_INIT; } } It would also be worth adding some debugging statements around that area because that's where the statement to actually send the rpm speed seems to be. Not being a C++ developer I don't have anythign installed to compile it but I'd suggest somethign like this may help: // demo: CAN-BUS Shield, send data #include #include MCP_CAN CAN(9); // Set CS to pin 10 int rpm_int; void setup() { Serial.begin(115200); START_INIT: // SET TRANSMISSION RATE if(CAN_OK == CAN.begin(CAN_500KBPS)) // init can bus : baudrate = 500k { Serial.println("CAN BUS Shield init ok!"); loop(); // Adding a call to loop which wasn't here before } else { Serial.println("CAN BUS Shield init fail"); Serial.println("Init CAN BUS Shield again"); delay(100); goto START_INIT; } } void loop() { rpm_int = 250; // send data: id = 0x00, standard flame, data len = 8, stmp: data buf unsigned char stmp[] = {1,0,0,rpm_int}; if(CAN_OK == CAN.begin CAN.sendMsgBuf(0x280, 0, 8, stmp)) { Serial.println("Setting rpm was ok!"); loop(); } else { Serial.println("Setting rpm failed with :" + CAN_OK); // I'm guessing this line so if it won't compile then just use Serial.println("Setting rpm failed"); } delay(100); // send data per 100ms } /************************************************** ************************************************** ***** END FILE ************************************************** ************************************************** *****/
14. I've not used an arduino and am not a C++ developer. But I used to be a Java developer. Are you writing the code yourself or simply trying to install, compile and run someone elses code? What is the actual issue you're facing (e.g. are you getting an error when compiling, etc?) Whenever faced with issues like this in the past I'd try to write small test harnesses and test each part worked. Sounds an interesting project.
15. Merry Christmas everyone. May all your Corrado's be good ones :)
16. I fitted one bought from this forum a few years ago. I retro-fitted OEM connectors and then encased the relays in a splashproof box. I think that last part is definitely worth doing. It sits by the battery compartment.
17. I thought that may happen. I went to a VW dealer to buy some parts for the Corrado recently and the showroom was like a wasteland. They must be suffering a bit from all the bad emissions publicity.
18. Welcome. LOvely car. I like the way you say "first" Corrado. Once you buy one you'll always buy another if you ever sell it :)
19. Stunning colour and great spec. Ebay advert says deposit taken. Worth every penny.
20. Washed. Polished. Waxed. Plastic trim oiled. I'll drive it less over winter and it will mostly be in the garage. But keeping a nice layer of wax will help protect it when I do use it.
21. Nothing this time. I was semi interested in the XKR's. I've been thinking about them for a while and it was a good chance to see a convertible next to the coupe. I quite fancied a convertible but when I saw them next to the coupe I realised it's the coupe that I wanted. They look so beautiful. Stunning in the right colour. Absolutely stunning. Unfortunately this one had a few issues like obvious new paint down one side and a door that wouldn't open from the inside or outside (a little googling showed that was't too bad an issue to fix but if the owner hadn't bothered then what else had they not bothered with?). If it had sold near the bottom of the estimate I'd have made a bid. But when one of the convertibles smashed it's estimate early in the auction I decided it wasn't worth waiting around until the end of the day when the coupe would have been up (convertible estimate was 8k to 10k and it sold for 14k). For that price I'd rather find one privately. So I went and dropped in on my mum nearby for a surprise visit instead. It was still worth the trip to compare the looks of the convertible and coupe side by side. I also drooled quite a bit over an E34 M5. What a machine that is. Unlike the British cars everything seemed to work! Seriously tempted by one of those at some point. A 6 hour round trip for me. But I have family up there too so took the opportunity to drop in and say hello. Yes it takes all day to watch them go through (I've been once before) so it can be a long day. Also make sure you wear crap clothes and a gas mask as you stink of petrol fumes at the end. They do get some interesting cars though. There was a really nice mk2 Golf GTI 16v. As soon as I saw it I had a smile the size of Norfolk across my face. It took me right back to my youth. As I said the E34 M5 was the surprise star for me (one was a lovely midnight blue/purple with a part leather and cloth interior). Generally speaking I wouldn't have an issue with buying a car at auction nowadays. In my youth I was terrified to buy anything outside a dealer. But long ago I realised that a small dealer adds nothing to the sale. They get a trade-in or buy from auctions like this. Then just add a mark up and sell them on. You may as well cut out the middle man and buy it here yourself. I'd prefer to buy privately from an enthusiast. If that's not possible then privately even if not an enthusiast. If that's not possible then a main dealer for newer cars. But a small dealer is the worst seller from my point of view. They don't add anything to the sale other than hassle. I'm on a bit of a mission to make sure any car I now buy has very low, or no, depreciation. So even when I replace the family Golf I'll probably be looking at something older but higher quality that's near the bottom of its depreciation curve. It's utter madness to keep throwing thousands of pounds at depreciation every few years. Unfortunately my wife doesn't quite agree and want's "new" cars because everyone around her has them. Wheras I would far prefer something like that M5 instead of a newer family Golf GTI for similar money.
22. It's not exactly a chuftie but it's not a spot either. I drove up to a car auction in Kings Lynn today. After a 3 hour drive I parked outside a building and was walking away to get to the auction across the road when a guy called after me and asked if the car was mine. Apparently he is restoring a G60 himself and his brother has a Storm. He said he doens't visit the forum much but is active on the Facebook group. We got chatting about Corrado's for about 10 mins. I'm just amazed that after a 3 hour drive I choose that building to park outside while he's just walking into it. After a 6 hour round trip in bad weather the car is filthy :( Time for a wash tomorrow.
23. Just be careful of getting a bit carried away like Daren did. He only started by cleaning one of the nuts under the bonnet and look what happened: http://www.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?89690-Diamond-Black-Vr-major-works-!&p=1090770&viewfull=1#post1090770
