  1. It's probably a Golf VR6 one. They are shorter. Mine originally had one on before I replaced it with a cat - also too short so I assume it was a Golf one. I too have mine packed away if NothG60 wants to try it. But you'll be closer to him.
  2. Corrado at Silverstone spotted at about 5 mins 45 secs here:
  3. I've seen a slight increase too although I think most of this is due to there being fewer low end cars around; a lot have now been broken. Looking at the numbers of VR6's left it has remained fairly static over the last few years on howmanyleft (other models have dropped in number). I just think the average price is going up because there isn't a lot at the bottom end now. But I guess that's how a trend starts as people see the average price going up and then it becomes a viable car to own without depreciation; so they buy into one and that pushes prices up a little more each time. This has stopped me selling a few times. I know I would have to spend more on another to get one back and I know I'd miss it. They are so rarely seen on the roads now. I can't remember the last time I saw another one outside of a car show or driving to a car show. If I ever sold then I know the market would bounce upwards the day after I sell - my luck is just like that :) There are some bodywork issues I want to get sorted but I won't do it while values are low. If values increase then it becomes worth getting them done.
  4. The advert states heated front recaro seats. The pictures show standard leather seats. /facepalm
  5. Over 8400 likes already. I do believe our beloved coupe has a following :)
  6. Same. I have the black industrial top and bottom so the middle is definitely of interest. Thsnks for posting it.

  8. True. Things are always worse when you read about them. But my brother is not scared to get his hands dirty and recently stripped down and rebuilt his M3 engine due to vanos issues. So for him to be put off an engine tells me quite a story. The other thing he didn't like about the 996 was the poor interior. It would be a step up for me compared to my Golf or Corrado but I have to agree with him that's it could be better inside.
  9. My brother and I both looked at 996's recently and both came to the conclusion the engine issues would worry the hell out of us. I was only looking at the bottom end of the market so just didn't bother in the end. He was looking at the top end of the 996/997 market so just bought a used Aston Vantage instead (and absolutely loves that).
  10. I would expect it to be calculated on a complete month basis. But they will then also take off an admin fee as well.
  11. The electric movement loom is easy-ish. It goes from the passenger seat, under the carpet, over the tunnel to the drivers seat, then on to the drivers footwell by the bonnet release and up to the fusebox. Remove the seats and unplug the loom from underneat them. Take the handbrake cover off and loosen the centre tunnel trim. Fold the carpet back (may need to remove some trim holding it down if I remember), remove the frivers side under tray and footwell trim by the bonnet release. Drop the fusebox. Then pull up the loom and remove from the back of the fusebox. I think the heating loom is more involved though (not done that one) as the relays may be in the rear doorcards??
  12. Got asked to jump start a newish Polo as I drove into a car park. I popped open my bonnet and the other driver couldn't believe how simple it was to get to the battery to put the leads on. In contrast to the simplicity of mine he'd also just walked to Halfords to get a new battery to be told he needs a specific VW one. WTF??
  13. So I'm not going mad then? I thought the same thing but assumed I had lost the plot.
  14. Thanks JIm. That was definitely worth a watch.
  15. I see you may be in Kent? You could maybe try giving SE Autoworks in Guildford a call. I take my car there and while I've only used them for fairly general stuff they seem to specialise in VW's and often have older cars there such as Corrado's. If you're in Kent it's not a million miles away; maybe an hour. Perhaps call them and sound them out on what they would be able to check. I've always been happy with them and they seem to know their way around Corrado's. EDIT: Are 16v and VR6 cats the same? I have a spare VR6 one you may be able to borrow temporarily to at least check if that's the issue. EDIT 2: Would engine codes show a defective O2 sensor?
  16. Lovely car. Good luck with the sale :)
  17. I'm considering cancelling Sky. I've had it since the lat 90's but find myself watching less and less TV now. Even my kids, who are glues to their iPad's commented that TV is "old fashioned". Steaming services like Netflix and occaionally renting or buying things on iTunes/Google Play seems to be the way forward now.
  18. My brother has just arrived in New York. I get a text from him "Sitting in a bar in Madisson Sq gardens. Just seen a Corrado". So a long shot but anyones here :D
  19. Thanks. I was about to get one of their cheap tents so this all helps. I appreciate they are probably really poor quality but it's just needed for a night.
  20. You? Sorry it was on the other side of the road so I couldn't see inside it.
  21. A red Corrado of unknown flavour near Farnborough at 3pm today. Unfortunately I was in my Golf so didn't wave.
  22. I agree with Autoglym HD. When I have time I wash mine, then polish it with Autoglym super resin polish and finally at least one coat of HD wax (often two on the bonnet). I almost look forward to it raining to see the beading :)
