Mine is vary varied but I try to play thikngs from the late 80's and early to mid 90's in the Corrado.. It just feels fitting to play music that would have been on the radio at the time the original owner was driving it.

The only downside of the old one was getting the error on my tablet on the train. The lady next to me must have thought I was a right pervert browsing such sites on the train.

Yes the new politically correct one is rubbish. I used to enjoy getting forum errors but not now :(

1989 VW Corrado Factory Black Heated Full Leather Interior
Portent replied to rado-steve's topic in Parts for Sale
Didn't know that. I stand corrected. -
Shame to see you sell. Good luck and hope it's an easy one.

Any wiring issues where the door meets the car? e.g. worn wires causing a bad connection as the door is opened? Sounds alarm related though.

1989 VW Corrado Factory Black Heated Full Leather Interior
Portent replied to rado-steve's topic in Parts for Sale
If you don't already have a heating loom in the car (and you won't unless the car has heated seats from the factory) then the supplied loom will need to go from the fusebox, to the dash for the switches, and then under the carpets to the drivers seat and then under the handbrake centre trim and to the passenger seat. It sounds hard but I did it with a recaro momement loom (not heated) and it wasn't that bad. EDIT: So undertray trim out to get to the fusebox, fusebox lowered out slightly, I assume some fiddling to feed the wiring to the centre of the console to get switches in (loosen the centre console maybe but probably do-able without), then wires down to the carpet, seats out, lift carpet back a little to feed the wires, centre tunnel trim either out or may get away with loosening it. Place seats in, plug them into the plugs underneath, then rescure seat nuts. As I said it sounds a lot but it's not that much once you get into it, and not hard if done methodically. The hardest part I found when doing my movement loom was getting the blasted fusebox back in. -
I'd vote but I don't use FB. Sorry :(

Don't get me wrong. I far prefer my VR6 to a G60 for the noise alone. But I do agree the G60 will be the rare one.

I think this is definitely the case.

Genuine italvolanti black leather steering wheel. Superb condition
Portent replied to Dox's topic in Ebay and Misc
I love that ebay wheel. Always fancied one but realistically I wouldn't use it. I've got one of those in the garage too (but with a GTI Engineering front). Picked it up for £30 at GTI International a few years ago. Now replaced with a standard VR6 wheel as I think it suits the car better: EDIT: Wow I've had it a while... the seats in my car were the original ones before I fitted Recaros. Time really flies! -
Welcome :)

My strong preference when looking for any enthusiast car such as the Corrado is to buy one from a forum or club member. Generally speaking they are interested in the car enough to become part of the community and as you can see, you'll often find history about the car through it's ownership.

A mk4? Love them long time :D
-
Sad times but I am sure you will love the R32.
-
Thanks for the ideas. I will take a look at them. The RS4 is interesting.

I currently have a mk6 Golf GTI. It is a nice enough car but the build quality is not what I have experienced on old skool VW's and in hindsight I think that selling my mk4 V6 was probably a mistake. In the next year I will proabably be changing the mk6 and I had intended to simply get something newer. But before I do I wanted to explore another option than simply buying a newer Golf, Audi, etc. Is it possible to buy a family friendly car which no longer depreciates? I don't mean buying something cheap and running it into the ground. I mean something around £15k (or maybe £20k at a push); 4 doors or even if 2 doors then plenty of room in the back. Something slightly unusual and interesting; certainly something not too slow. A few things come to mind and I am aware that maintenance will be higher. But what I 'm trying to stop is the round of finding a lump sum every few years to move back into a newer car. How are 4 door mk4 Golf R32's nowadays? Surely these can't be depreciating anymore? What about a 4 door older M3 of some description? Anything in the Mercedes range? Anything Audi? I'm open to non-German suggestions too although that's what I typically buy. Thank you.

It's worth checking the battery cables. When my earth cable was loose it would occasionally stall when coming to a stop.

I saw this posted on another forum. The first few have already aired but I guess they will be on catchup somewhere. Channel 5, Thirsday's, 7pmm. http://www.classiccarshow.com/ Quentin Wilson and Jodie Kidd presenting.

Have you tried making them smaller?

Great to see the new owner on here. One of my favourite corrados.

Corrado best cars you don't see on the road.....
Portent replied to Chuggs1's topic in General Car Chat
It's been at least a year or two since I've seen another on the road outside of a show or event.
