Heres a couple of pics from today! Massive clean up of the engine bay neede now and then sell the kr lump if anyones interested only done 70000 miles with history and good oil changes

-
Yes jim but i would be the same if i had a VR, A corrado with any engine in is still a fun car to me and i dont care how much its worth because i wont be selling it :) i`ve had it 8 years as it is, The Mrs would leave me if i sold it :) Consolation maybe
-
im spending a fortune on mine at the moment and have uprated the brakes and renewed all the running gear uprated suspension and now doing a 9a with gas flowed head! because its my Hobby, I will never get the money back i have spent but its my hobby :) After all its a 16 valve so its worth nothing :)

There was A big discussion on club gti about it and the guy bought merc injectors and put them in without the hats and he ran it for a while but it ran rough so he replaced them with the old ones and it ran better, He was convinced the problem was lack of hats
-
Thanks for the advice chaps! Was thinking about taking the top hats of altogether but after reading a post on club gti forum somebodys car ran badly without them  I suppose they are on there for a reason, Something to do with the spray pattern maybe
-
In the process of a 9a conversion and decided to strip the inlet manifold down for spraying 2 injectors popped out nicely, but the other 2 took me at least an hour to get out  eventually when they popped out the top hats came off and stayed in the injector insert! I have ordered some new seals but the top hats didnt seem to want to go back on "very tight fit" But you must have to remove the top hats to get the seal on :? Any ideas please!!

I used the very same guide :) Loads of info on club gti for the valver gang :)

Just new belt and tensioner, i managed to get 2 small drill bits to fit in the holes in the tensioner and place a screw driver through them to put tension on the belt and tighten untill you can twist it slightly! Haynes manual for the golf is helpfull! Using the correct tool is advisable really but you can do it without if your stuck
-
Just done mine today(engine out though) due to 9a conversion, and had to turn the bottom pulley back slightly anticlockwise because when i tensioned the belt the bottom pulley was not ligning up with the tdc mark, make sure the dots on the cam sprockets are spot on and feed the belt on making sure the bottom pulley mark ligns up on the pulley! Tipex is your friend :)

That made me laugh i forgot about that 'what direction do you give way to :censored: ' it took me a while to find petrol i was on the red line driving round solihull. When i found a garage only 1 pump was workng and a woman was filling the tank in her XKR. how the plans coming along for the 16v? Ill be going to a few shows so will be good to see you. I managed to reduce my loan on the car for 6 months hopefully work will pick up and i can keep it. The banks dont want to know ive tried to get a overdraft but 'computer says no' Valvers in bits at the moment drew :) Decided to go down the 2.0 block and gas flowed head route so im just building the engine at the moment and getting all the parts together bit by bit, The heads all built up and im just in the process of cleaning and painting the block then its engine out and clean engine bay and replace any bits that need it like hoses and bits! I should thank you for giving me the kick up the ars i needed to get this little project started after all the piss taking at the nec "you and Dave" :norty: :) It will never look like yours mate bit its a start! Hope work picks up for you mate your corrado is a credit too you and im glad to see you are keeping it now :)
-
Hey up drew hows it going :) I will take some of those shiny calipers of you mate when youv`e got them, Let me know Car looking nice and shiny as usual :) Hope you have cooled down after your run in with the bus driver at the nec on the way home

There are aftermarket four branch stainless steel aftermarket downpipes about but would tread carefully with ebay! Try mk2 Golf gti ones, think they are the same, Don`t think there were any non power steering raddo`s, certainly would`nt want to drive one :)
