  1. It'll be the idle stabilisation valve.. it almost always is!
  2. I think this is a little fierce given that it's not illegal and clearly just a slight oversight which I'm sure the original poster will be happy to rectify! He's come up here to, kindly, post some pictures for us, and has instead been berated for posting them on Facebook and now told to "get it sorted" in obscuring a number plate - talk about a warm Corrado Forum welcome.

    VW Golf mk5

    Blimey - seems a great price for a MK5 Golf! :)
  4. Ignore the grinch. Great pictures - thanks for sharing them :)
  5. You may need to get your hand in your pocket sadly - there were several 'wanted' adverts up on here for ages, for folks looking for them and never got their requests fulfilled.
  6. Less to go wrong :) Sunroofs are a known weak spot, and the electric window mechanism failing means drilling rivets out and re-riveting the mechanism back in... not much fun at all!

  8. Have to give these guys a special mention - worth also saying they're not paying me to say this or anything! Just that I was impressed with the service. Put in my second order with them today (only for some basic stuff - oil filter, sump nut washers, etc) and got a phone call a few hours later from them. The guy on the phone says that he can see I paid via PayPal and that this time around, my delivery address is different.. I told him that I did actually want to send my order to work, but PayPal forced me through into setting delivery for my home address. Couldn't believe he'd thought to call and double check, and amended my delivery address to be my work one as I originally wanted. Talk about customer service. Shipped same day as I ordered as well. Thumbs up for AVS / VW Spares :)
  9. http://www.vwspares.co.uk are a great bunch :) Think the DubPower HT leads are pretty well regarded too.
  10. Agreed. I think it was the reccommended oil for a nice, new, tight VR6 engine but I think with the ages and mileages we're talking about now you want 10w40..
  11. Really reckon you should get it MOT'd and stick 6 months tax on... it'll hurt but I reckon it'd help a sale. I know it'd seriously put me off I was looking to just hop in a car and drive it away, if I had to negotiate on tax and persuade the vendor to stick it through MOT. Not saying you have, but it makes it look like you have something to hide and are afraid of putting it through the MOT.
  12. Could also be piston slap - my VR is incredibly noisy from cold and only really settles down when fully up to temperature. Planning to give 10w50 oil a try in the near future but it costs a fortune (~£50 for 5 litres) so not got around to it yet!
  13. Says you got a second bid right before the end of the auction? So did you sell it?
  14. See you had a bid at £2,800 - hope someone buys it and doesn't come up with some excuse like "My son went on eBay and put a bid in for me" !
  15. We basically do it to prevent spam accounts / unauthorised advertising. People register a "use once" account, then spam flood the forum with links - it happens more than you'd believe, and basically stops them from doing it. Once we've approved your first few posts then you'll be able to post normally from then on. You should probably be able to post normally now in fact, as you've made a total of four posts here.
  16. Must have missed these the first time around - are you still doing these, Dave? Would take a set if so. Recently replaced my rad and the old rad support brackets were in less than stellar condition - and of course they're obsolete by VW now :)
  17. Compomotive's... there was a grouy buy on here for them a year or two back :)
  18. I guess there's multiple different ways of tackling it - wrap all electrical connectors, spray with something like Gunk, and hose off would probably work reasonably well. Just going at it with something like brake cleaner and some good quality blue-roll would be more time consuming but probably less likely to get water into places you don't want it though :)
  19. I think I'm terminal mate. I reckon an M3 would be enough to persuade me out of the VR though.. believe me!
  20. Your car makes more torque before 2000RPM than my VR does at all... hahaha :)
