I'm getting some rust treated next month Paul but frankly it's never going to get a full respray. It's just not worth the money. And as this is my only car, I'm just planning ahead for what feels inevitable as the engine gets closer to 200,000 miles.

There's quite a lot of guides on the net if you look on Google :) Here's an example! http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=229424

Yeah - would give another vote for the Infinity Kappa stuff. I ran some in my old Corrado for a while and I was very impressed with the sound quality of the kit. Really decent :)

"None of the highs, none of the lows - it must be Bose" :)

Good luck chaps! Just got mine through last week with only a minor repair needed and only a handful of minor advisories :)

"First we sort your engine. Then I'm going to put you in this huge pile of poo..."

Cheers mate - you're a legend! :) Appreciate the offers of help and advice from folks - very, very cool indeed.

Whoa - easy tiger :) The car is still running fine... this is only a bit of forward planning as she's just starting to sound a bit clattery! Not looking to do the work for a while yet! :)

In terms of tarting up the engine bay, etc - given that I've quite happily written off the notion of using my car as a show car, etc I don't expect that's something I'd get too carried away with! I just want it to work. And not sound like a bag of nails :)

Hmmm - good info :) And thanks for the offers of help! So now just a question of keeping my eyes peeled for a decent VR6 lump!
-
My old VR seems to be getting more and more clattery and tired sounding.. I rebuild would be great but astronomical. I've been idly daydreaming about finding a nicer, newer, younger VR6 lump out of a Golf VR6 or just a healthier Corrado one - doing the swap is massively outside of my skillset but I just wondered, assuming I found a decent complete engine, what sort of time we'd be talking for a garage like Stealth to swap it out? A couple of days?

Interesting documentary comparing British to German (car) industry
Jim replied to Tempest's topic in General Car Chat
I know Top Gear is largely irrelevant these days when it comes to more serious matters but the segment they did a few years ago about cars built under communism was interesting, as they refer to the state of the British car industry of the time - especially the part about people being on strike, and the quality of the workmanship. Quite an eye opener for someone who didn't live through that era and didn't realise how we really just shot ourselves in the foot with our attitude as a country. -
That's a good price :)
-
Very nice indeed! Did you manage to get it done for a good price? Was it a glass out respray?
-
It's the carbon canister system - if you do a search, it might explain what it's for :) As for whether you need it.. you don't NEED and can safely delete it... but given that VW fitted, then it's there for a reason. They didn't include it for the fun of it :)

Welcome to the forum! Some great work there - I look forward to seeing these projects progress!

I had the pleasure of driving my Corrado up through the highlands last year - it was terrific fun :) The roads and the scenery are spectacular. The drive back down towards Perth when I got caught in a blizzard was somewhat less enjoyable however.. :)
-
It's not a bad idea I guess! I hope it works out for you!

Rare/Sought After/Desirable Corrado parts - What Ya Got?

A working sunroof! :) -
I wouldn't be in a hurry to remove the black chin spoiler - they just look wrong without them! You can get a 50mm spoiler, and a 90mm so if you're concerned about scraping, you could look for a 50mm one?

More than happy to pick up a set from VW and mail them to you but I suspect it'd be quite expensive! Looking at $103 + shipping!
