  1. Have a brake. Have a Kit Kat.
  2. Hm. I do quite like the thought of getting a good, used 2.9 engine and subjecting it to a full rebuild out of the car some day... only problem is storing the fecker! :(
  3. Lovely. There can't be many 2.0 16v's left in that condition.
  4. Still keen and will definitely have one when they come to fruition. Count me in Baz.
  5. Same weekend as the Corrado Club National Day - so going to limit your Corrado audience somewhat :)
  6. Aside from a few errors though, I thought they were pretty good with their summary... :)
  7. I don't think that's me.. I don't remember giving them any information. Possible their writer just has the same name as me?! I'm confused :)
  8. I've had a pair sat in my garage for the last 16 months and just scrapped them 3 weeks ago. Typical. I believe Supercharged has a new / refurbished one waiting to go to a new home though so might be worth PM'ing him? :)

Felt stuff is pretty decent - I wouldn't be too worried there!
  10. The CCGB Show n Shine has never been about who has the cleanest car. It's purely "Who's car you like the best" - so it might be something heavily modified, or something just with some well executed simple mods. Hell, my 2.0 16v won at the National Day in 2006/2007 beating Bill Aitken's VR into second.. and as anyone who knows that car, and knows Bills car knows full well that there is nothing about my old car that made it better than Bills.. it just looked clean on the day and I guess enough folks thought it looked right to give me the vote. Believe me I didn't know what to say when they called my name out!
  11. Welcome to the forum. Looks like it needs a lot of work to me... problem is those are just the known problems listed. There could be any number of other issues waiting within that car. I'm surprised it's reached £720 already to be honest!
  12. Why do people do this :( Sorry you guys got screwed. I'll do some digging and see if I can find out any more information about this guy..
  13. Think the good doctor is on the money there - I think the TZ20 Lumix is about as good as you'll get in the compact category for the money..
  14. I think you were just used to it. But coming from being used to a regular VR6 with 200BHP, giving a VR6 Turbo the beans for the first few times is a genuinely eye opening experience. It feels like you're going into warp drive!
  15. And who never gets bored of driving down a high street when there is a lot of reflective glass on the shop windows, and admiring just how good a Corrado looks on the move? :)
  16. The reason I first got into them was a friend who I worked with. I was never really into cars that much when I learned to drive but around when I passed my test (13 years ago!) a friend had a Corrado VR6 in Midnight Blue. I remember going out in it a few times and the speed of the thing, and the sound, and the fact it had a Clifford remote engine starter.. and of course the spoiler. It all combined to totally win me over and kick off an interest that is still strong today. However as has been said you can now get quicker for the money - so why bother keeping it? Truth be told I have considered selling many times and I can't hand on heart say that I am going to keep my car forever. The primary reason I keep it these days is because of friends I've made through the club & forum, and because of my involvement in the CCGB committee. It's sort of like your "entry ticket" to staying in the circle! :)
  17. You're more than welcome to a drive next time we meet up David :)
  18. As I say will have a think about the remap but it really isn't top of my priority list just yet. I have a manufacturers warranty with the car for two years and just can't be bothered with the potential problems / questions about the remap in the event that the car has to go back for any work! 260BHP would be nice though I won't deny! ---------- Post added at 6:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:22 PM ---------- Insurance has only gone up £120 a year to swap from the Fiat to the VRS! One of the benefits of starting to get a few grey hairs! :)
  19. I have to say after a spin in your really nice A3 TDI, I knew the days were numbered for the Fiat..
  20. Funnily enough I did think about a Polo GTI (1.8T) too.. I know you'd said they were reasonably good fun, if a bit soggy. Went to look at one prior to looking at the Octavia. Had a poke around it on a VW forecourt.. no sales people came out to talk to me at all in about 15 minutes of me nosing around, I noticed lots of bits of damage and then some overspray on the front not to mention a trillion stone chips so hopped back in the Corrado and drove off! ---------- Post added at 4:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 4:33 PM ---------- Ah lol - forgot about the stovepipe arrangement! Maybe have to go and look around one at a dealership and go armed with said headgear. I'm a bit prone to changing my mind at the drop of a hat, and a bit impulsive. The VR sale was just a momentary wobble though :) It'll be tucked back up in the garage before long ;)
  21. No denying it mate. I tried to be a sensible motorist but that 1.2 engine, whilst acceptable around town, was excruciating on a long run. It'll be nice not having to shift down the gearbox every time you get a slight incline in the road! :) And cheers Andy - will make lugging those wheels back up from the National Day a bit easier! (Can't bring the Corrado as I've hit my insurance mileage allowance rather sooner than expected, thanks in no small part to driving to Germany AND the highlands of Scotland this year... damnit..)
  22. Was thinking of you when I got it mate as I know you're a very content Octavia VRS owner! Is yours the petrol or diesel? Yeah - it's Race Blue. Looks absolutely fantastic! Options wise, I must be honest and say I didn't pay much attention to those - as I'm sure you'll appreciate when you're used to the Corrado, EVERYTHING else seems so new and up to date that you get lost in it all. But I do know that it has a 6 disc CD changer, full climate control, and cruise control (which I did want!). There may be other things - I guess i'll find them along the way! Remap I may well consider but that will be in a few years perhaps.. fed up of modifications and declaring them on insurance so it's nice to be able to just say "It's this car" and not having to jump through hoops! :)
