Well.. there definately isnt anything wrong with the 16v.. just as excellent as any of the other models. Its just the easiest one to get you started on. The insurance company will still rape you though!!
-
Um.. so lemme get this straight. Don't touch a G60, they cost too much to run... 16v's are unreliable, and 8v's are too slow. So that pretty much leaves a VR6.... and any insurance company will laugh you off the phone when you try and insure one at 19 years old. Seriously... if you are 19 and you really want to get a Corrado, then the 1.8 16v would be the best starting point. The 16v engine is very reliable providing you look after it. Warm it properly before using high revs, keep to the service schedule, and keep fluids topped up.. VW's engines are renowned for reliability and the 16v is no exception. The bonus is that they are the cheapest to pick up (seen very nice condition ones for £2000, which is a bloody steal if you ask me) and a good starting point should you want to progress up the 'engine ladder' later on.

A good idea... as there does seem to be a LOT of wheel pages knocking about at the minute. Anyone wanna start this one off?
-
Ouch... and thats one of the main reasons I try and avoid racing people. Don't wanna be hearing the sound of 'screws being thrown down my exhaust pipe!' :( Nasty.
-
I think he was winding you up... I am pretty certain no such beast (at least not in Corrado form) ever left the Karmann factory.
-
I think for the shipping costs, you could probably have your car resprayed at TVR with a full metallic flip job mate ;)
-
Try angling the pump to the left 45 degrees before you start filling up. Either that, or just dont put too much pressure on the pump (ooer) and let it fill up slowly. I used to have a nightmare trying to fill up my Corrado.. especially when I was using Shell Optimax. The pump always used to keep clicking off like it was full, regardless of how much petrol I had put in. A pain in the neck!!

All I know is that it has gotten seriously out of hand, and nothing seems to be happening about it. They should chop the twockers f'ing hands off.. they wouldnt be able to do it again. Thieving pieces of $h1t.. :|

And here is a quick photoshop of your Corrado lowered a bit dazzy... It'll look the mutts nuts mate! :)
-
Dazzy.. those alloys look ace mate. Gonna be a pig to clean though :) I have to ask though... am I the only fan of original VR6 Speedlines?! Mint / refurbed ones look superb on the VR. Just lower the car about 30/40mm and it looks ace on the standard speedlines!

Yeah... you actually have to post a message using quick reply, submit it, then go back and edit that to attach an image. I had a feeling you might read it before I got the image on there ;) Anyway... i'll stop leading this Off Topic...

Its sposed to look like normal text.. there is an image attached beneath with the actual example I was trying to show :)

Well if your contact needs it Tom, I have the VAG font... Like zis!
-
Hey.. do any of you know what happens if you press the arm/disarm button whilst driving? Does it do anything at all?
-
Yeah.. I think the menu system will require proper study. I know the main basics now.. lock/unlock, silent lock/unlock, and valet mode all from the keyfob. Seems straightforward enough so far... Oh, and sorry.. didnt mean to get batey :)
-
that kinda style looks good Darren... just have 'corrado-forum.net' in the VAG font, at that kinda size would look topper :) Though I am happy to go with whatever Tom can do.. I know he'll do somethin good :)
-
Yes, its just for my Saxo Andi.. thank you for reminding me. None the less, its still £7000's worth of car that I would prefer to keep hold of without some loser stealing it. Its a popular target amongst the assholes who do that kinda thing, and I want to give it some adequate security. As for the manual.. who the hell ever reads manuals? I prefer to find my way around these things by myself, like a proper techie :D
-
I'd buy one or two.. though I just ticked 'buy one' on the poll for now :)
-
Really sorry to hear about this... I wish we could be welcoming you to the forum under better circumstances. I hope you find your G60 with as little damage as possible, and I hope they catch the miserable scumbags who took it. Is it just me, or does car crime seem to have exploded in the past year or two?
-
I dont think car jackings are a huge problem here.. well, unless you drive a seriously nice car. Its gotta be a desperate thief who carjacks a Saxo. I'm gonna see how I get on for a week or two and then look at what I want to enable / disable.. I suspect auto alarm will be one that I turn off, but auto immobilise I would leave on.
-
Yeah was just reading about that... just put the key in and switch to 'ignition on' without starting the car, and then switch off again - do it really quickly, and it should let you know. Handy for filling up & washing the car etc without looking like a plum when the alarm goes off :) It then resets that as soon as you start the car again.
-
Yeah... I did wonder about valet mode. The guy explained how to do it from the key fob.. said the LED should stay on permanently whilst its in valet mode. The not being able to get out whilst the engine is running could be a bit of a problem.. when I take my car round the back of the house to wash it, I have to get in and out a few times to open a gate before driving down the alley - I usually just leave the car running and hop out - looks like I need to rethink that one :)
-
Yay... So I now have the Concept 300 fitted, and £375 less in my bank account. I think its going to take me an eternity to work out the ins and outs of the keyfob but hey ho.. The doors even lock when I turn the keys in the ignition, and unlock when I turn the ignition off.. weird :)
-
Yikes.. Can't you do anything about the shoddy mechanic or have you just got to grin and bear it? Good luck getting it sorted.. let us know how you get on :)
