im really P****d off at the moment everything seems to cost me money
-
i recently reinsured my corrado after disposing of my golf 1.8t anniversary (needed to much work for its next mot) my existing insurance would not insure the corrado - dont know why the telephone operator could no give me an answer anyway cancelled the policy and asked if they could forward me confirmation of my NCD which they duly did (always like to have written confirmation) went to a comparison web site and insured the corrado and all seemed to be fine deposit paid etc Around 10 days later i got an email requesting a copy of my log book (never had that before) and proof of NCD i forwarded this all be email several days later i got a reply informing me that they had increased my premium by 70% (estimated) because the log book indicated the i had purchased the car only last year - i have owned and registered this car for over 10 years. last year i put the corrado back on the road after several years and after getting it motd i tried to tax it only to be told the log book was out of date and i has to apply for a new one which i did. i believe this was due to the DVLA moving from N Ireland to wales and new log books had to be issued. i still have my original log book They also refused to accept my proof of NCD because i cancelled the previous policy (IT STATES I HAVE 14 YEARS NCD)with no claims outstanding. i contacted by telephone and the operator was not interested so i cancelled the policy with a cancellation fee of course!! so in total the insurance company got almost £100 for roughly 14 days cover For the last couple of years i have never been asked to produce proof of my NCD - i assume all my details are held within an insurance data base i am of an age now where insurance premiums are not that bad anymore i have taken out insurance with another company and it will be interesting to see if they request the same information?

even with spacers there is the same problem

this is a very common issue - i had my windscreen fitted by a local fitter who took his time and did a first class job The original seal was refitted but after a quick run up to 60 mph the seal began to come adrift in the end i got hold of a tube of black windscreen sealant and put a fine bead along the top of the screen and pushed the seal home and have not had a problem since. i assume the problem is at the factory the screens were fitted by robot and are fitted within a fraction of mm which cannot be replicated by hand

-
thanks for the pics keyo - that exactly what i needed - looks so obvious now but just could not work it out earlier thanks again keyo!

all is well - is your parts hunt over! Its not the white hangars - these are metal coat hanger material (best way i can describe it) like y shape i cant up load pictures i had these quite a while now from the local vw dealer but never got them fitted drooping handbrake cables not a pretty sight - these may not be on a vr6? by the way that car is clean underneath - looks like a new car - shame to take it out in the rain to get dirty
-
does anyone have a fitted picture of the wire hanger that the hand brake cable attaches to as it moves along the rear axle finally getting around to getting these fitted but cant see how they attach? - same as mk2 golf i can best describe these as small curtain hanger type? thanks
-
thats a very fair price there - i paid roughly the same 4 years ago for a genuine one off ebay and roughly the same again for a genuine rear box buy it quickly you will not get another at that price last time i looked vw classic parts had these in stock (some time ago) and may be NLA - they were serious money the weight of them shows they are top quality!

advertised on gumtree (£2900) the usual non working sunroof, interior looks well worn but no apparent holes, both front and rear. from the pictures front suspension turrets look rusty - car living by the sea?
-
First car was a vauxhall nova 1,0 swing - great car for the hand brake turns! Bought in 1988 for £2600 from a vw dealer with the help of my father. followed by a ford orion and a mk1 astra gte (loved this cars driving position) then rust took it over
-
car looks fantastic keyo - must be interesting to drive with the shrick - how different does it make the vr6 engine?
-
it was a 1990 it was tornado red and at the time it reg was G834 YNF
-
i did the cardinal sin and traded it for a mk3 gti 8 valve (don't laugh please) at the time it was bleeding me dry and looking back i actually carried out 90% of the faults before i sold it! The last i heard was it was traded to another trader south of the border here in ireland

there is the crank shaft oil seal that sits between engine and gearbox - the clutch and flywheel have to come off to fix oil leaks can come from a number points and it surprises you where the oil shows itself i find a common point is sensors especially cars of this age
-
i had one of those back in the year 2000 - cost me a bloody fortune it was just at the age where everything goes wrong and because everything was unique to the car its ££££. The original exhaust centre box was £1000. I sold it for buttons at the time and now regret it.

i assume your talking about the rear quarter windows? If so the rubber is attached to the glass and the glass is bonded in - as with the windscreen and has to be removed by cutting wire - best removed by a good windscreen fitter.
-
they even list the elusive outer scraper seals

hello angus keen to get a look at this im from belfast - thanks - i think i may have seen this is it green and parked at a house as you enter saintfield from belfast?
-
Hello keyo we are all hoarders now with corrado parts !! with regards to these parts i have a car here for parts and these are still attached and intact (i will have to confirm this) but how do you remove them without breaking them as they are plastic and almost 30 years old
