well just had another look and the last time the brake fluid change was ticked was back in 95 actually, but i can't believe that is the case as the last guy worked at bmw but still gonna get it booked in right now i hate when you miss things you thought you checked when you buy a car anyways cheers for your help guys...
-
really, i would be well chuffed if that was the case, so dot 5.1 i have some new brembo's for the front with some pagid f/r pads will get those done at the same time, i have had a look through my folder/ or should i say folders of hstory and there seems to be no record of the fluid being changed since 94...

well when i bought the car i had the mot done just over a month ago and the fluid needed topping up is there a chance that it could have just been topped up and may have had air blocks in it as a result, but surely it would have been the same since the mot !!!! do we reckon fitting the new front disks and have a the fluid changed and bled and see what happens or is that not a good idea, cheers for all your help!!! 8)

obviously take the bottom section out of the car, make sure all the holes are below the the filter and that you clean all the holes up so there's no bits of plastic hanging, before you do any drilling have you tried removing the snorkel from the bottom section and giving that a go sounds lovely, can be done in 5 mins and returned back to original in the same time.....

is there anyway of testing it, as i have no idea what happens when the m/c goes, i tell ya that is just my luck at the moment i'm really starting to hate my car  any ideas on the price of a new m/c and labour time....

hey, ok so recently when braking for a junction or slowing say 40+ the brakes seem to go spongey and the pedal travel increases release the pedal and brake again and it feels firmer straight away, the brakes still feel strong at all times just seems the pedal travel increases on a longer stop, any ideas ??? master/c or just needs new fluid don't when it might have been last done, all pads are ok have pagid fast road on the front and gsf pads on the rear, have a new set of brembos for the front as the front disks could do with a change in the next 10 thou but it's not urgent !!!! should i be worried.....
-
funny i thought that but reckon it's a miss print goona give them a ring tom....

there's one for sale near me just advertised as non runner and needs some attention and no price always wanted one and a turbo hmmmmmm!! tempted

jim, after having two 1.8's and 2 vr's i was like you thought i had it out of my system and was tired of spending in excess of 200 quid a month on bits that kept on breaking, falling off, so like you sold up and went out and bought a mk4 gti non turbo, very nice very ecconomical (40+) and had all the creature comforts, that was in oct 04 by the end of jan 05 i had sold it and bought a mk2 which i have replaced most of everything on so far and i still love it (should'nt it's cost me a small fortune) but i have to agree with kev's comment about deppreciation ect... maybe not a corrado or a mk2 but a nice mk3 anniversary, new cars unless your talking big bucks are not worth all the fuss if you were serious about saving money surely you would be dead set on a mk4 diesel :D just what happend to me tho, does'nt mean i'm right, just like owning lot's of cars i spose, god i miss my vr !!!!!
-
that would deffinately be one of my cars in my dream garage for sure but can't say it would be red!!! nice one you can always count on the 303 for coming accross interesting cars :D

-
smooooth is the word !!!! yeah i remember getting qoute for my vr for a new clutch seem to remember it made me nearly choke, gotta say i do like my mk2 to when it comes to the price of repairs :D
-
taking the girlfriend to work this morning in the rain and my clutch cable gave up nightmare, phoned gsf 8.50 great!! but realised that i needed to move the car and no one was around around for a tow so anyway phoned the local stealer and they wanted 32 incl and they had one so sucked it up and walked all the way accross town to get it only to find that they did'nt have the repair kit to go with it  so thought to myself f**k this i'm gonna fix this what ever and walked back with my new cable and walked up too where it broke, low and behold there they were on the side of the road, :D clutch feels great now, it's amazing how much a new cable can make....
-
i personally scrapped all the oe exhausts when they fell off my c's and had a local guy who built performance systems to order fit one cost around 280 for 16v and made a big difference and around 310 for my vr and again made a big difference just mho, i got him to do one for mk2 only 2 months ago and made a good bit of difference pulls much stronger in 2,3,4 now, but yeah only fit what you can afford and it depends on how long you want to keep the car for....
-
i like it just not the name !!! pana........ what !!
-
great stuff cheers buddy he got it from his local d&n factors so theres no issue that its already been fitted and that he blew his motor up should be all ok like i say it's only done 200 miles... cheers for your help!!
-
hi guys got the chance to buy a clutch for my mk2 16v of a guy who fitted it to his car then blew up the engine 200 miles later it's not a vag one it's a luc one it cost 75 quid new should get it for a 10 er is this a good idea or should i just buy a new one can anyone help me !!
-
no its a seperated part but there not pricey... thats not the issue it's actually removing the four bolts that hold the water pump on they go straight into the block and if your shear one of those off like i did you have a real problem so i would take it on the chin and pay some one else to do it as you only want to be doing this job once !!! but you don't have to remove the p/s pump just loosen them and be carefull not to damage the hoses....
-
i have just done mine and if it's the complete pump it will be all you need i would suggest replacing the thermostat at the same time and deffinately paying somebody else to do it... :D
-
well got my car back this morning, after giving it a go myself on monday and doing really well untill the LAST bolt on the water pump sheared of in the block  got the car picked up and 200 quid later all sorted... can't say i was too chuffed but glad to have her back, cheers for the help by the way guys..
-
i am right it's the water pump then cos it does look like i can get to it from underneath, where the belts are for pas, alternater and the pump i guess !!! it just drips once the car has been running it would'nt be anything else !!! sorry for the lack of knowledge just need to get my facts right for gsf tom...
-
well i've just consulted the haynes and it did'nt mention remove the pas pump but i guess it can't be that hard just gutted as i just replaced the rad and did all the coolant, really boring!!! cheers tho buddy
-
ok i have a leak looks like the water pump!! if you look from the the front on the right hand side where all the belts are it's the very bottom casing where the water seems to be leaking from, is this the water pump cant think it would be anything else. are there issues with changing this or is it a straight swap, its on a kr 1.8 16v, if anyone can help!!! added some pics it's dripping from behind that pulley and only when the car is running !!!
