  1. cheers for that , kvwloon the one vag sold me is nothing like that!!
  2. polish wont help much...the paint is bad qaulity and the sun/salt/winter will kill it, it usually goes very dull and the laquer will go yellow and craze each to their own...if your happy thats great im glad, but id be going spastic if they painted my car!
  3. appreciate the warnings.....and i am in no doubt that the two of you are correct.....but surely some discoloured matted paint looks better and more importantly protects better than no paint, so either way its still an improvement of sorts!! yeah sure...its just some people ( me for example ) are very fussy and want the best
  4. hate to p1ss on your fireworks guys....i work as a paintsprayer at a main dealers, sales choose to use chips away to tart up the sales cars these guys use horible paint and it will look rank within a year or so, it hasnt got the smae quality as stuff you use in an oven and....its a right nghtmare to repaint properly,as we often re do their work when customers complain id rather touch bits in with a brush or save for a pukka job....its only worth using if your selling quick
  5. mine are 6 + yrs old...no probs yet
  6. cheers...i already got a quote but its gona be £60-70 for postage on top any other suggestions
  7. i need some golf door panels done in leather...im getting quotes over £600 anyone suggest a good place? im in cambs/east anglia
  8. i read somewhere that genuine vag short engines are reasonable for a vr6....worth an ask??
  9. ive always used the common cheep gti oil filter on my g60...not the one with a nut on the bottom id always assumed the only differance was the nut welded on for easier removal anyone know if theres any internal differance??
  10. mike....ive had a go at all of it!!....ive made things better ,almost there but i need to know where to start from what ive read about lining up the gearstick end...i should make it slip straigh into 3rd...but what if the cables are wrong im running a short shifter too redline mt90 made things nicer
  11. ok my gears seem to need some ajusting....ive read up on it and it seems i can ajust at the gearbox end AND by slakening the 13mm bolt at the gearstick my question is which do i ajust first?? its all been apart so nothing is as it left the factory
  12. i think magnatec has a poor reputation in the motor trade, although ive never used it myself
  13. done it now :x ....the engine needed to be real low,i took off the oil filter and droped it real low and she slid on
  14. any advise on getting the box back on( i know its not a c but i need help) its catching on the the right hand output shaft and the left hand chassis leg any help please

    I need YOUR help

id imagine somewhere like pertek(spelling) or a place that does hyd fitting could remake that
  16. oh...its just that i was thinking black meant rich...and the white tip possibly meant too lean
  17. ive been making checks on my g60's plug color the outer ring where its threaded is black and sooty, but the center is more of a tan colr while the very tip is white/grey my question is...what bit should be tan??...and how long for them to color up?? im checking after normal driving my spec is red inj, ported charger with 16psi,sns chip &fpr and 750 ohms on the c/o pot
  18. i heard there was a weight you can fit to the gear change mech on a g60 that smooths it up a bit so i quized vw and ordered one that looked right from a vr6....when it came it looked almost right except the weight has a locating pin and 1 bolt hole...my shifter lever only has 1 bolt hole any ideas whats the right one to ask for..my car is a 2wd g60 golf with the fmic
  19. yeah use the heat wrap over the whole manifold.....it will be hard to do once the manifold is on though
  20. i asked before but never got a firm answer ive fiddled with my g60's c/o pot....when stone cold the reading is consistant across the 2 outer pins...but say if i take a test drive and allow the engine to warm the reading will have changed so my question is how do the pro's like pitstop etc set them...hot/cold/warm if its faulty please say so....but i cant afford to replace good parts
  21. stevemac...the timing is aj on my kr golf, make sure you disconect the red black wire under the coil ive noticed mine is a little heavier on fuel since stealth bumped mine from 6 to 9 deg
  22. beavis....so 650 ohms ish may be a good idea until i get chance for a wideband??? any tell tale signs of going to far either way.....i dont get any black smoke that i notice and the plugs are clean oh and while im asking....i asked this before but never got a firm answer......do you aj the pot hot or cold?? reason i ask, if i set mine when stone cold then go for a drive ,the setting will be differant hot/cold. it returns to the same value at the same temp as when set if you get my drift
  23. ive been playing around with the c/o pot values....i have a sns chip, red inj blah blah although im reasonbly happy with the way the car runs...i cant tell a differance between like 400 and 600...maybe its a touch better at high revs with 400 ohms?? my question is...should there be a big noticable differance between 400/600 ohms....if so what should i be looking for BEFORE YOU ALL SAY GET A WIDEBAND..I WILL WHEN I CAN,BUT ID LIKE IT BEST/SAFEST FOR NOW cheers steve
  24. how does yours fit??? a2's have a threaded end to the shifter, if yours screws on id imagine theyre the same
