Think I still have the tensioner bolt in the shed I removed when taking the cams out of that engine if it's any good to you. Was the same type with the pimple on the end. Not sure about the guide, that may have been binned.
-
Ah man, not more problems. At least you seem to have found the issue easily enough. How was she running on that engine before the tensioner gave out, nice and smooth?

^ same. Some good money to be made out of that. Only shifted the shell of the green one I broke off my drive last week, the other half would not be impressed if I started on another so soon. -

Peloquin 02A Diff Firstly these are covered by a lifetime transferable warranty. Send it back to Gary in the US and he will repair it free of charge and then return it, at your cost, no questions. Look it up on his website for confirmation. Secondly, and the reason for the above, it needs rebuilding. Came in my last car and it never worked from the day I bought it, the inside wheel would always spin up under hard acceleration. That car is now sold so is surplus to requirements. To save me the bother of sending it back and forth to America I am advertising it at a reduced price of 300. I could also do with the money having just bought a new car. It comes with the ARP bolts and 20 thou old bearings. Can also include the gear it attaches to, is this the Final drive/pinion? Either way it was in a 3.68 box. I found somewhere using google that will deliver this for 35 so I would imagine total shipping there and back will be somewhere in the region of 100. So that is a fully rebuilt diff for roughly 400, about half what it would cost to buy one new. Collection from Exeter preferred but would be willing to post at your cost, also if paying by paypal and you don't want to gift you will have to cover the charges. This is a very heavy item so may cost up to 20 to ship. My favourites are Corona if on Lager, Thatchers Gold if on cider, and Rum, Dark or Spiced, if on Spirits. Having just flown back from Holiday in California I was really ****ed off to find you can only bring 1l per person back from Duty free. Bought a litre of Captain Morgans Dark Spiced and Bacardi Gold which I was smashing last night to try and get drunk to cure the jet lag. Didn't work and I have been up since 4am having not gone to bed till 1.

There are aftermarket options if you do some googling, but they are never going to sit quite as low as proper original Recaros. I fitted some Konig's to my last C' with frames from here. http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/konig-vw-corrado-seat-frame/prod_2315.html Didn't sit quite as low as OEM seats but were way more comfortable and supportive so well worth it. There are a few people on here that run them so maybe you could get them to measure the mounting hole positions to see if they would fit Recaro's also? I pretty much came to the conclusion that after frames, runners and seats were bought you may as well have just bought original C' Recaros unless you came across a much cheaper alternative like I did with the Konigs that cost me about £600 fitted.

Great news Rog, here's hoping you get some well deserved trouble free millage.

Great result Ian, recon it must have been the pot hole I hit back in December that dislodged it. Random how it fixed itself for 7 months but as you said that is Corrados for you. Looking good with the leather, I was planning the same and was going to remove the leather from an armrest and fit it over the cloth then bond with tigerseal or similar. Shame the Konigs are a bit snug for you but I am sure someone on here would snap them up.

Did a bit of a U-turn with the M5, not enough around and any suitable ones were seemingly miles away. Had a look at M3s and there was one only 90 miles away from me in Trowbridge. This is the nearest I have ever found a car since 2002 so went and had a look. As of this morning i am now a BMW driver. So happy with it. Nowhere near as fast as the VRT but a much more pleasurable drive and place to be. Fair few stone chips but importantly it is low milage for year at under 80 thou and sounds and drives perfectly. No subframe issues so has had an easy life by the look of it. Needs a headunit and speaker upgrade that I will do in due course and tidy it up here and there but otherwise it should just be a car I can enjoy. Running a longlife exhaust decat and a remap so is pushing out around 355-60 bhp.

Yep, drove away last night. Bloke called Ian bought it. Instantly started to question if i had done the right thing but think it is for the best. Only used it about twice in the last month and did less than 10 miles in those trips.

Yeah I did thanks mate. Went with UPS through interparcel in the end as they were a bit cheaper. :thumbleft:

Tbh I am not sure I will. Great as they are I don't think I can stomach another FWD car. Having owned 8 FWD and only 1 4WD it's time to move on to RWD. The VRT was fun in a straight line but completely useless at getting its power down in 1st and 2nd and accelerating through corners was a massive lottery sometimes thanks to the way the boost came in. The M5 does comfort, speed, agility(once fitted with ARBs and coilovers), noise and equipment at an amazing price so think it may last longer than the 18 months tops most of my other cars have lasted, however that remains to be seen. Plus I have to find a suitable one yet. Think the whole big end problem isn't as bad as it is made out to be. There are plenty of high millage cars out there that are still running original bearings, they just need to have been properly looked after. A few people have problems, report it on forums then suddenly everyone starts to panic. It is certainly something that needs to be considered when buying though.
