  1. Can't help with removal but petrol works well for cleaning. Stick a bit in, say half a litre or less and give it a good shake around, that should remove any oil residue in there.
  2. Been watching these for a few days now and can't quite believe they haven't sold. Come with unsuitable tyres for our cars that could be sold on for a decent amount being virtually new. ET45 so may need spacers and unknown CB, but thats dead easy to alter. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111356685709?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648
  3. Turbo blanket arrived from China today. Took just over 2 weeks which ain't too bad and they put gift and $2 value on it so no import charges. :thumbleft: Having removed some corrugated heat shield from the turbo to fit the blanket I gave it a quick scrub and fitted it above the existing manifold heat shield to try and further help intake temps. Also had the wash bottle off as it had some black crap growing in it. Quick blast from the hose didn't shift it all so I managed to jam the dish brush inside to give it a good scrub, along with the outside as well. Now I just need them to finish renewing the Gas pipes on my street so I can get it out. Was a bit of a shock getting back from work yesterday to find this having had no warning my driveway would be blocked for a week.

    Turbo Advise

Jesus, you're brave putting a chinese turbo on such an expensive engine. They normally fall apart after a few hundred miles taking the rest of the engine with them. What do you mean by 'it's been balanced'?
  5. It was a red one I bought to cut up, paid about £35 IIRC.
  6. Try fitting an uprated headlight loom with some Osram nightbreaker bulbs. Cheap, easy and gives fantastic results. Cars fitted with aftermarket headlight setups really **** me off as they always blind you.
  7. Tell me about it Jim. I have had to buy 2 now, and one of them I cut up :bonk:
  8. As Stuart says the golf one is bigger and they are obsolete from the dealers. They do come up now and then 2nd hand and go for roughly £30-40.
  9. You would have to get in line behind Coullstar who has been trying to buy them back since the day I bought the car, lol, not that I will ever sell them. The caps are genuine compomotive and I presume the ones Graeme got with the wheels when he fitted them to the car. I bought proper Konig frames and they are a good fit. They don't go quite as low as proper Corrado seats on their lowest setting though so could be a problem if you are very tall. Got them here. http://www.sportseats4u.co.uk/konig-vw-corrado-seat-frame/prod_2315.html
  10. The more that get broken the rarer they become, prices then rise. Just sayin'.

    Cheap Recaros

Listing now ended. Who bought it then? First dibs on the rear seats and door cards should it be broken

    Cheap Recaros

The seats were on ebay on there own until 2 days ago. He had the fronts in 1 auction and the rears/door cards another. Ended them both and put the whole car up instead. Really annoying as I was bidding on the rears. If it wasn't 165 miles from me I would snap this up, keep what I wanted and break the rest.
  13. Drove around 270 miles this weekend in the Corrado. Came across a Jag XK R on Friday evening and had a little play with it up a steep hill on the A38(Haldon for those that know it). Up to the end of 4th and into 5th there was absolutely nothing in it. Pretty chuffed with that considering they are over 500bhp and have way faster gear shifts. Also I was carrying the other half and some booze, whereas I think he was on his own, so was probably confused as to how I was keeping up. Took it down to Gwithian in Cornwall for a nights camping on Saturday where I bumped into fellow Forum member Loepan on the same campsite.
  14. Drop it. Mine has been done along with badge and tow eye delete and the back end looks so much tidier. Cover the rear screen in rain x or similar and you wont have a problem.
  15. I had to properly Tw@ mine a fair few times to get it free on a couple of occasions to the point it hurt my hand, so don't be shy about giving it a good wallop inside and out all along the top edge.
  16. My drivers window started doing EXACTLY the same as yours. I could hear it clicking but it wouldn't go down. Sorted it by pressing the button with the door open whilst banging along the top of the window. Seems it was getting jammed and the motor couldn't free it. Since then I ran a small amount of Vaseline all the way around the edges of the window and it hasn't got stuck since.
  17. Not done a huge amount recently. The door striker pins were a bit rusty so bought some new ones. Gave them a quick coat of Lacquer before fitting to keep them looking good. On bank holiday Friday this happened. Blew the heater return hose whilst cruising along at 70ish. Pulled over just before all the water had emptied itself from the engine, so no damage done. The hose was a Samco and hadn't enjoyed its life next to the turbo. When I went to undo the small jubilee clip off the thin diameter pipe a bit of the pipe just fell off. As such I went with an OEM replacement made by Meyle. After having the days plans somewhat ruined I ordered some Samco silicone stretch and seal tape for the glove box incase any other hoses decide to split.. Here is the offending hose. All of the heat sheath and mat around that area was really manky and most of the reflective surface had flaked off. After spunking £60 replacing a lot of it the engine bay is now a lot tidier looking. Ordered a Turbo blanket too, but that may take a few weeks as it is coming from China.
  18. The 3 pin switch in the rad.
  19. Had this in the past too, pretty sure a new thermo switch sorts it out. Easy to check, just go pull the plug and stick it in the new switch to see if stops it coming on.
  20. Went in to VW earlier to order a Passat wiper motor cover to just receive a call saying they have been discontinued. Off the top of my head the number was 3A2 955 128. Are there any other alternatives that fit? Or anyone have one they don't need?
  21. Universal. You have to weld a bung onto the downpipe around where it joins the exhaust. It works via a probe that looks like a Lambda sensor. I use the Inovate MTX-L.
  22. First 2 cars were 1.1 mk2 Fiesta'. No picture of them, both written off. 1st golf. 1.6gti. 1.8gti when sold. 2nd golf. mk2 gti 2.0 16v. 3rd golf. 1.9 8v tsr Donnington engined. Ended up like this. With the insurance I bought this. 4th golf. 1.8 16v Then came the first Corrado. VR6. Next a B5 S4. 430ish bhp. Which made way for the VRT
  23. £4750 for a 16v with cloth interior :bonk::suprised::nono:joker: Good luck with that.
  24. Found this which is half the price of one from vw. http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Water-Hose-Throttle-housing-to-Cylinder-head-VR6-engines-1H0121157H_act_shop.product_pID_167384506.htm Out of stock but prepared to wait to save myself £20 edit. ECP have this in stock at £28 delivered.
  25. Suposedly they are, but I have heard of a few cases of them going after a few years whereas original ones can be ok for a lot longer. This one looks to have gone due to heat despite being covered with heat sheath. It has gone very brittle and part of the thin tube broke off when removing the jubilee clip. Makes me think original may be best, but at 44.05 they aren't cheap.
