  1. no, it sit's about 1" in front of that, it'll go down a good 20mm no problem. both my mk2's had a lowered rear mount.
  2. So why don't you corrado owners modify the rear mount too so it sits lower? I can't, otherwise the prop will hit the steering rack.
  3. Already got mine! then again, I've had it for 2 years...
  4. I know it leans forwards, it wouldn't fit under the bonnet otherwise. I was just a bit concerned at how high it sits on the drivers side. Wasn't sure whether there was a problem with my subframe or the engine mount. I'm used to seeing them in mk2's, with a modified rear mount to bring that side down you see so mine looks a bit alien to me. Cheers Kev, you've put my mind at rest.
  5. looking from the front, is the top level, or is it higher at one end?

    Retro fitting ABS

I've got an ABS pump, loom and brain and a few sensors off a 1996 golf VR6 for sale. that'll fit easy and work. you don't need the rear compensator with this sytem either.
  7. Bin it. I just had to remove mine as it packed in. peice of p1ss to remove it.
  8. just run a knife down it and cut off the raggy bits. that's what most people do. once they're gone, you'll never even know they'd been there.
  9. No idea whetheer they were blanks or not, I bought them used for £80. but they are definitely 268's, and are VW cams. they've had the base ground down to give extra lift.
  10. For the 6 speed, full rebuild, 3.94 final drive and the diff it came to £2600 I think?
  11. I got it from Helix, the UK importers. Look for Kevin Typer on Vortex, he should be able to get you one for $305
  12. I had a mocal one in my mk2, I thought it looked mint.
  13. speak to grant motorsport. mine are from there, and are re profiled VW cams.
  14. hmm, thay do look poo in that pic. I'll try one before I put my lights back in.
  15. I've seen a couple done, cna't quite make my mind up. Anyone got any pics? does anyone in the UK actually have this mod on theirs?
  16. Had to be the Schrick VGI manifold (complete, with all manuals, pipes, pump and controller) for £430 2 years ago, beat that! 3 genuine porsche centre caps mistakenly sold to me for £15 at Utterly Veedubberly wasn't bad either (meant to be £25 each!)
  17. pull it back into the engine bay area, the tape the bulb holder to the end of a stick, the poke it back through and try and make it come ouf the hole in the wing. grab it, remove tape, bin stick, refit indicator.
  18. how about a simple heat sink on the pipe? would that work?
  19. I'm hoping to go to inters in it, but I won't be showing it.
  20. Just looking at the way the pipe comes through the front rad support. anyone been tempted to stick a cooler in the pipe? My exhaust runs damn close to the steering rack you see, and tends to boil the fluid sometimes.
  21. waste of money. unless you're racing your car you don't need brakes that big...or that expensive.

    Rust Hot Spots

rust??? I've never seen a rotten corrado. There isn't any of it on mine at all, on the shell that is/ (except from and unattented scrape on the wing). it's as good as new underneath. the welds on the rear beam and subrame are rusty, as always, and there was a bit on the rad support to, but nothing a wire wheel couldn't sort out.
  23. Budget for about £300 to do the timing chains, if you do them yourself........Dealers will charge £900 fo the work. Listen to the right hand end of the engine when you go look at it, if it's clattering the chains need doing. at 101K, they'll be ripe for changing. It's a gearbox off job.....great fun.
