  1. Definitely. My mate has an oil cooler on his, and the oil still gets up to 115+.

    heater on a mk2

It'll be those stupid valve things VW fitted in the heater pipes during the matrix recall. take them out.
  3. that was lucky where abouts were you? i thought it was an instant (for more than 42 days anyway) ban for going over 100mph. i'd have been well chuffed at a 42 day ban and £500 fine :D i'd have expected alot more than that for doing 132mph!! M18, northbound, bramley. I was facing a £2500 maximum fine, and a totalt revocation of my license for anything up to a year (meaning I'd have to resit my test when the ban was up). So I had to fork out £600 for a top barrister to assist me. Worth every penny !
  4. 65 in a 50 is nothing. a lad in here got caught doing 86mph in a 50mph road works limit on the M62, he got 6 points and a £400 fine. I got pulled in the summer doing 132.35mph on the M18. I got a 42 day ban and £500 fine, no points. You should get 3 points and a £60 fine and nothing more.
  5. My mates hold 1.2 bar no bother, but that's a rallye bottom end.
  6. Well, the very last boot floor panel, as it was the only one available, and the remaining side panels, some of which my mate now has. So I've got enough brand new panels to do my corrado, and also my mk2 syncro shell, which I may yet cut up as I need the garage space. Oh, and a Jetta syncro sat on the drive too!
  7. you'll know when mine is going 4WD, because the pics will be on here for everyone to see. Shame you can't buy the syncro boot panels any more though, I bought the last few available last week :D
  8. No, but I can confess to selling dubsport a Rallye rear diff for this very project so I do know it is in progress. Mines going to be 4WD, but not turboed. Well, not yet anyway  But Dubsport won't be doing mine, I'll do it myself.
  9. Flush tailgates only suit Saxos.
  10. he knows, he bought the G-laderless G60 lump off me! :D
  11. When my fan wasn't working I used be totally paranoid as it blew a hose at 100. But I've regularly seen it run up to 110 with no problem. I tend to try and release the pressure in the expansion tank regularly to relive the pressure on the hoses. Just be careful not to burn yourself.
  12. At the end of the day, you're going to by the ones that are a nice colour and match your car.......... :?
  13. Sikaflex 221. Just don't go mad with the stuff, you don't need much. A bit along the grille, and a blob on the top corner of each headlight is enough. Then if you want it off you can cut through the stuff.
  14. I've got a few G-Lader bits lying around.
  15. You can get proper battery terminal grease. if not, vaseline will do. Buy the best battery you can afford, the biggest that will fit. I always go for a battery off a diesel or at the least a VR6 one. Try and stick with quality brands too, Bosch, Varta, Exide etc, no cheap sh1t.
  16. Same as mine :D .... but i've got the Porsche ones waiting to go on 8)
  17. What's you're idle speed? it might be a bit low. Check the voltage at the battery at idle. Clean the terminals, make sure they are tight and greased too. Either way, get it sorted, winters here, and it's no fun breaking down. My alternator belt snapped on my old Golf GL early this year. It was -3 outside, and I was stranded for 40 minutes........It took me 2 hours to regain the feeling in my toes when I eventually got home.
  18. Bosch FR8LDC How sad am I for knowing that!
  19. I have a set ready done. I'll consider a swap for them, without tyres, for your painted speedlines, with decent tyres. anyone interested?
  20. They are damn slow like......but at least I still have traction coming off a wet roundabout :D
  21. I used to run my mk2 VR6 at the drag strip with just a downpipe on it, it certainly used to turn some heads!
  22. have you tried putting over 200BHp through 195's????? it's not fun.
  23. you can fit the 5 stud discs straight on, or fit a vr6 rear axle for the wider track (I've got a spare). for the front, you can keep your calipers and carriers and fit 5 stud discs and hubs into your bearing carriers with VR6 outer CV joints. OR you can fit the whole VR6 hub assembly 280mm or 288mm brakes (remember the 288 calipers and carriers are different), but you will still need the VR6 outer CV joints, and you'll have to modify the ball joints so they'll fit in your narrow track wishbones. Ideally, you should fit VR6 wishbones, ARB's and driveshafts and the rear axle.
  24. I felt so proud driving my Corrado to work this morning, full of smugness from all the people around who might have seen top gear last night (and thought my lowly 8v was a VR6!) :D
