  1. I'm sure I've read somewhere that temporary speed limit's aren't "the law" unless it's on dual carriageway or motoroway. check out the pepipoo site and ring Robert Dobson, the solicitor who's number is listed on there, he'll give you some DAMN good free advice. I used him and paid him to appoint a barrister for me who worked wonders with my case.
  2. mine was an 8v. same spec. flat rear seat no sunroof no height adjustable column no "corrado" script on the sill guards

    volvo PCD

not sure, ut I'm sure Iv'e seen those rims on a cavalier turbo, so they COULD be 5x100??
  4. prediction.....more silly little things like this will happen through the season to make it "exciting", shuey will claw back to 2nd place, and the last race of the season will be a head to head to see who wins.......... yawn..............
  5. can't believe no one has mentioned the R32 yet. mine sound like a 360CS!
  6. corrados are front wheel drive..........
  7. new rear diff and vc is here, fitting it today, hopefully it'll solve a lot of my problems.
  8. VW are a waste of time, I complained about the new crank oil seal I bought off them, which turned itself inside out after 3 months, knackering m y bottom end, and all they'd off me was a new £8 seal. Ben, ditch those bolts, they need to be 8mm longer, they only go into the coupling 2 threads deep, and there's a good 100 threads in there. found another rear diff and coupling in holland, so I'm going to get that and hopefully it'll be here when I come back from the Isle of Man. Until then it's time to forget all about cars and have a bloody good break from it all and come back with a fresh outlook and decide then what I'm going to do with it.
  9. STOP PRESS seems I can't blame the wheels pin on the 4wd after all. Got sick of hearong that awful rumbling noise under the car so I got it up on axle stands and put it in gear with the engine idling. bizzarrely, front wheels turning, rears not, and that noise from underneath? still there. stuck my head underneath and to my horro, the prop was spiinning, but the VC and rear diff wasn't!! turned it off quickly and got under it to assess the situation. the 3 bolts (whoch I bought new from VAG) which hold the prop to the VC are too short. they've only been in 2 threads deep, and have stripped the threads out of the VC. then the prop spinning has machined away the alloy and knackered the VC, it's totally shot. I think it's been loose for a while, but the drag launch finally sheared the bots of the threads out and twisted the rubber coupling too. just had a complete mare of a job taking the prop off, the VC is toast, I need a new one, which has to be off a vr6 syncro........I may as well make another one out of rocking horse shit..... at this moment, I'm thining about breaking the car, I'm totally and utterly sick of the sick of it.
  10. you can't even feel the weight, and it actually makes the car feel more planted. it's worth it for the independant rear suspension. I haven't had a check underneath yet, I may have destroyed the viscous coupling!
  11. Having had the car on the road nearly a month now, I was beginning to get bored with it, and starting to think it was a bit slow. so I decided to take it to York dragway yesterday and have a go to get some real times on it. Previoulsy, with the 2.9 in it, I managed a best of 14.444 @94mph. so I was hoping it'd be a bit quicker than that. Give it some off the line, only to be told by my mate watching that the fronts wheels just lit up and the rear wheels seemed to be doing nothing, so that means the syncro system is utter crap for drag launches, but that's what I was expecting anyway. Got hammered by a WRX, went back round to get my timing slip. now, I haven't sprinted since last September or so, so I was mightily impressed with my 0.555 reaction time, 60' foot time was poor, at 2.2 (I've hit a 2.034 before) but the biggest shock was the 1/4 mile ET..... 15.5 @88mph now I knowit felt slow, but not THAT slow!! that's worse than a stock golf vr6!!! had 3 more goes, best time managed was a 15.4. gutted so, it's clearly not happy running on the 2,8 ECU, and I bet it's only putting out about 180 bhp tops. need to find a way around the immobilser on the r32 ECU so I can use it. until then, I never want to drive it again. I#m THIS far away from selling it or breaking it, I truly hate the thing. I'm having a full week away from it all in the Isle of Man on my new bike next week, so hopefully I'll come back refreshed and ready to tackle it. If not, it's going to have to go.
  12. I'll take a pic today. it's not he filler neck ,that's further back and clearly visible (I should know as I've changed all that). might be something to do with the central locking solenoid thoiugh. I'll see if I can see anything from inside.
  13. shite, I hate it! now I've got used to it again I've decided it's been feeling a bit flat, and I went to the track yesterday to run some times.....see the other thread about that........gutted. I'm going to tone the car down a bit too, it's too much like a race car, not a road car. also, the syncro system is utter sh1te for drag racing too, the front wheels still spin!! it's great in the wet though.
  14. I've got a genuine, factory bodywork repair manual that tells you hot to replace all of the body panels. I think I lent it to coxylaad though? PM him and see if he'll scan in the pages about the roof for you.
  15. ad to think he wanted to buy 215/35's instead of 40's!!! don't worry, there is a spare VR6 sump in my garden waiting for him, I only want £200 for it ;-)
  16. he's been busy with his house extension and playing with his new bike. when I get my camera sorted I'll be showing a few demo clips of the traction on different surfaces, that's all I can think of to add to this pretty comprehensive thread now.
  17. WTF is that huge lump in the driver side rear arch for? my rear tyre is hitting it a lot, and I haven't even got it down to the ride I height I want yet, or even got the wider wheels on! I'm reluctant to whack it with a hammer in case I disturb the outer arch at all. has anyone esle got this problem? anyone solved it yet? anyone even know what's behind it for that matter?!?! currently running 205/40/17 toyo r888's on 7.5x17 ET35 TT rims.
  18. I'd love to do just the same, but the 4wd won't like the odd tyre sizes. nice work, love it. NOT

    Bling or Bleurgh?

I think I'll buy some. they'll go with everything else that's crap on my car.
  20. do a search in Windows/system32. delete the vw prefixed file. then you can reinstall it.
  21. it looks ENORMOUS with that plastic cover on! looks much better without it IMO. hope it drives well though
  22. yet when I did it 5 years ago some self loving style guru dared to say it looked "dated"....and then went on to debut his 70's retro mk1....go figure. looks mint gordy, glad to be of assistance. you can pay me later ;-)
  23. the middle bit is actually quite a lot darker than it loks int hose pics, its onlt eh end bits that are pink. my mate reckons it's off a really limited edition RS, and they only made 10!?!? not sure if that's true or not. can't complain for £30.
  24. he's only got my front seats I fitted evrything else! except the carptets, they are still wet from a marathon 5 hour cleaning session yesterday, they were absolutely minging. beige carpets...what a crazy idea!
  25. fitted my interior. that feels better!! fitted my ULTRA-RARE Porsche RS BBS steering wheel too. it may have pink bits on it, but the purple bits match my car and it's too rare to re-trim or re-dye so it's staying gay.
