  1. who's going to host it for me? it's an AVI, only 1mb.
  2. wiring wise? easy, plugs stright in. I fabricated a bracket and welded it to the pedal box, with an adjustable stop (so I don't go bending the pedal out of calibration) took a few tries before I was happy with it's position, nad it's bloody tight behind the fuseboard (I've had to move it forward 10mm) but it feels fine now.
  3. no really impressive cars that caught my eye. terrible weather, crap layout. just totally no atmosphere at all, I was bored by 11am.
  4. You can pick up a 2.8 for £1000, people are now asking up to £5000 for the R32 lumps, which is just silly. So long as you get the whole wiring harness from the relay plate to the engine, the ECU, clocks and keys it's really not too hard a job. I have the diagrams if anyone needs them. The trick os to use the mk4 relay plate, and just be really neat and methodical in slitting up the power supplies to the different systems, or using the mk4 battery mounted fusebox too (which is ugly)
  5. saw those seats too, laughed out loudly, then managed to secure a set of grey leather recaros for my mate for £525, which made me laugh even more. the show was utter crap as expected, but can't complain at the few baragains we found. brand new 8x17" compomotive MO's, £400 corrado INXX bonnet lifter £15
  6. it goes on the starter motor. where the other big thick wire from the positive battery terminal goes. that's the main feed back to the battery from the alternator.
  7. how can i be shiny, it's plastic! I wished I could have taken a pic of it today, with mud sprayed all up the sides after my rally-a-thon.
  8. I've done a few samples of mine, but they all sounds shit when you play them back. will do some proper vids when I get my camera back.
  9. shut it daz, you're only jealous becasue you DID give up on your 4wd corrado 24v and sold it to coxy, and now you know what you're missing out on!
  10. forgot to add, water temp sits at a steady 80, so the rad is big enough after all.
  11. Well, time to retitle this thread!! I was determined to get to the bottom of the brakes issue, which I think I have now (see the brake thread for an explanation). Had to take it out for a test drive, then realised I had no petrol, so I wnet for some petrol. then realised I was a stones throw away from york dragway, so I decided to go there too!! Halfway there noticed a bit of smoke, stopped for a check. just crap burngin off the exhasut, and the exhaust wrapping drying out, phew! then realised I was parked half on gravel/mud, and half on a wet road. time to test the 4wd!!! Have to give it a fair few revs to pull away anyway (light fly wheel and engine wasn't running 100%) so I wellying it and let it go. f*ck me!! 4 wheel wheelspin for a breif second then the thing just launched!!! amazing, well happy with the first test for the 4wd! engine still wasn't running right though. it felt as quick as the VR6, but was only revving to about 3500rom before hitting the limiter, weird. got o the dragway. as you will know if you've been there, the acces road is the biggest, most potholed heap of sh1te goign. now it had been raingin all morning too............picture the scene. me, in my freshly roadworthy car,.......4wd........wet gravel/concret........steel wheels......and borrowed suspension :-) I was colin mcrae for that moment. 4wd is mint!! flat out in 3rd, bit of sideways here and there, lovin it! got to the pits, my mate andy has his vag-com with him. checked the error codes, 5 of them. Had a quick look int he engine bay, plugged a few connectors in, and before long there's only one code. I decided against taking it on the strip, just in case I broke it, but the drive home was err....entertaining! the car park and exit is almost as bad as the entry road.....or as good if you look at it that way! My mate was following in his revo'd mk4 1.8T. I ripped it along the road and he said 2 huge plumes of dust and shite came flying off the back tyres and the car just squatted down as shot off. it took him ages to catch me up (dodging the pot holes with his 18" bbs's). Finally onto the main road, took it steady oin 1st and second, just seeing if it'd rev a bit higher, then noticed my mate had come flying up behind me in the mk4, so I floored it in 35rd, then 4th, and found him about 50 yards behind me and dropping fast! impressive :-) Can't selct 6th gear yet, something in the shifter is stopping me from doing so. and the prop bolts worked loose and I had to call the AA, who managed to lend me the tools to tighten them back up (they will be loctited in soon), so it was steady away from there onwards. So, still a long long way away from being finished, so I won't be bringing it to inters for everyone to pick fault with it in it's unfinished state. but damn, it has some potential, and if it wont' run a mid 13 I'll eat my underpants. So, thanks for the support, it's helped pull me through the stress, and I'm glad I didn't give up, it's been oh so worth it, and it's just going to get better and better.
  12. well I've alreeady given you the number of the guy who has one, and I can get you a plug and play wiring harness and do the DBW pedal box too. what are you waiting for!?
  13. have you plugged the blue wire back in? baclk plug that sits on top of the engine mount. that should sort out the battery light.
  14. yeah, I know I wasn't going to sell them unrefurbished, but I think you'll all agree they've gone to a good home, and Gareth made me a sensible offer, and I really needed the money for Woerthersee. Do em Black!!!!! BTW, that 4th rims I was on about, it's off the rear of my porsche RS's, so it's about 1/2" wider than those. both of the front ones are monged. you can have it anyway, as agreed, so now you can try and see if 8"s will fit, possibly 8.5"s. so much for me needing the money though, I bought 2 sets of 18" porsche twist splits instead!! another refurb project to tackle.
  15. well, I think it was a combination of a few things. firstly, that air in the pump. cracking off the unions definitely let a lot of air out. but I think this has also been a problem:- I have no brake discs securing screw in one of my hubs (the old one is snapped in and I haven't got round to drilling it out yet). so, when you take the wheels off. if you knock the disc it falls off the hub slightly. the knock on effect of this being that it pushes the piston back int he caliper. so when you press the pedal, it's got to take up that slack again before you get a bite........when I bled the brakes with the wheels on it sorted it. I've got 2 new A?BS sensors in the front now though, so as soon as I change the connectors on the back sensors 9the syncro ones were different) I'll get that ABS light out foe good and try the old "lock it up on some gravel" trick to get the pump kicking in, then I'll bleed it all again.
  16. I ragged the living shit out of mine down that horrible gravel/concrete road at york draway, testing out the 4wd. oh, it works alright, it's insane. I felt like colin mcrae for about 2 seconds, it was brill.
  17. I've only got as far as I have because of deadlines. if I hadn't booked the croft trackday it's still be sat in the garage with no fuel tank, prop, brakes or wheels on it. It WILL be up and running for GTI festival, and hopefully show standard by Edition 38.
  18. well, definitely no nipples on the pump. I cracked off the lines coming out of the pump, one of the rear ones let out a sh1t load of air, and I managed to then get a load more out of the correspoinding rear caliper, which has firmed up the pedal alot (but it's still crap). getting some new front ABS sensors today to get that ABs light to go out, then I need to take it out and get those discs cleaned up.
  19. cheers for the kind words guys. I was in a foul mood when I posted this if you didn't already guess. it's just been so frustrating to get so much stuff done on the car only to be held up by a coupe of stupid little problems which are taking weeks to sort out. I sorted the alarm, the tilt sensor had got knocked upside down......the interior is a right mess at the moment you see...well, it hasn't actually got one right now! You're right though, I do need a break from it all, it's stressing me out. I'm off to pick up some new front ABS sensors today, I'll stick those in and see if that will sort the brakes out (managed to frig them the other day and got the ABS light to go out with no fault codes any more). So hopefully I may get to drive it properly this afternoon. I'll go get some more zymol and give the bodywork a good going over, I just can't take any more spannering at the moment. A week in austria next week and inters should see me with a fresh head and ready to sort it out once and for all. I haven't had a holiday for 6 years.........
  20. bloody alarm just went off AGAIN, even though it wasn't even set!!?!?! I now have zero patience if it goes off again I'm throwing a brick through the windscreen
  21. I'm sick of thinking about it working properly, but the f*cker never does. there's always something else to fix on it, I just can't afford to go out and buy new things like I used to, monthly wages are the sh1ts, I'm, flat broke all the time now :-( It'll kill me if I have to leave the car at home and spend a week in austria knowing the car is sat there doing nothing (apart from the alarm going off for no good reason at all at obscene hours...like jusy now...again....). I swear I'm "this" far away from going autside and smashing the thing to bits.
  22. haven't got time. I need the car on the road for sunday. I already missed croft and gti fest, I'm not missing inters as well.
  23. Totally on a downer.....spent the past 6 months, all my spare time, and all my money building my corrado, drove it twice, and hated it. now I can't even get the brakes to work, the f*cking alarm keeps going off for no reason at all which is p1ssing my neighbours right off, there's little marks all over the paint (from me working on it and squeezing past it in my pokey garage), the bumpers haven't been painted properly (and are darker than the rest of the car), my seats still aren't done (not that I have any money to pay for them anyway). Just had enough really, I can't be ar5ed to spend another minute or another penny on it. I don't even want to go to worthersee now. I think I'l just go skiing instead and f*ck the cars off. I'm cutting my golf up, there's no way I can be arsed to build that after all the chew on I've had with this. so much for a hobby, I though they were meant to be enjoyable? it's been nothing but stress for me from start to finish. sick as f*ck.......... :x :x
  24. nightmare, I have no money to buy one, and no time to wait for one either............ I have a late golf vr6 one, but the fittings are a different size.... I'm screwed.........anyone want to buy a cheap unfinished project? I'v had enough... :-(
