Ah, nothing like old parts replaced by new parts. So I put on a new oil feed line for the G-lader today. The old one have been changed at some point in time, but don't know when, so out it goes. Was rusty too. Installed a new oil line for the G-lader plus fittings. I found out the old one (really old and rusty), was sitting wrongly. So the new one sits correct. Tested the G-lader tensioner (shock), and it works as a new one. But will change it all, when the final belts are here from the vwdealer. VR6Pete: I bought the last set from Germany, the dealer told me. But you can allways just use three cuts off's from a meter hose in the good vwdealer quality. Eventually, you can reinstall the preotection piece on one of the right side ones, so it works as intended. Cheers, Redfox.

Hi all, Got a PK1660 belt for the stock standard G60 engine. In Etka it says 1658mm, so with no mods, is the PK 1660 oem VW one the correct, with no belt slip? It says "VW 000 038 903 137 J CH Contitech PK 1660". If I were to one day put on a 70 mm g-lader wheel, which belt length would then be the correct one? Cheers, Redfox.

I've used turtle products for years, then I switched to another canubawax, and now I am using Mcguiars gold wax for paint, quickwax for wheels, and various cleaning and interrior versions for inside (also Mcguiars). On the leather I only use Furniture Clinic leather cleaner and their leather cream. I have a turtle black bumper colouring liquid as well, but don't really use it any more. I only use microfiber cloths now. I just go and buy lot's of them at the local supermarket, where I have found a certain quality, that is miles better than the cheapest ones, and I have 30-40 pieces, and when they are used up (dirty), I just wash them at 60 degrees cel, and they are like new again. Works well. My motorcycle are cleaned religiously every week and after every drive, to the smallest detail. I unwax it every week, and apply new wax. First I use as little water on it as possible, unless it's very dirty. I use window cleaner and then wax it. Takes very little time actually. On the Corrado I usually also sticks a hand around edges and places where dirt accumulates, like for instance behind the fuel filler flap. Wheels off a least once a month to clean them up all over. Tiregel on the tires. Wheelwax on them all over as described.The I at the same time take a look at brakehoses and pads and discs plus drive axle rubbers. For the car I use one bucket of soap water, and one clean one to wash off. Then One bucket for each wheel after using Mucoff - a very good and friendly product, if they are being washed, else just microfibercloths and spray. I only use natural hair washing brushes with soft rubberhandle for the wheels. For polishing the paint I only use Festool grade 8000 and 11000. Very good indeed. Inside I very sparingly use cleaners on the steeringwheelas it becomes slippery - dangerous. I've tried a lot of different glass cleaners, but now I use Mcguiars NXT Glass cleaner, as it seems to make them a lot more clear, and lasts a lot longer. So saves me work. At the same time I look at the engineoil, cooling water and brakefluid, exhaust rubbers, stones in the tires etc. I very rarely use water in the engine compartment, but just clean it a bit every now and then. I end with a walk around and look at all lights if they are intact. Inside I vacuum it before anything else, also the airchannels, where I close all but one at a time to suck/blow out any dust. Drainingsystems are religiously cleaned at every wash and cleaning. Then I give the fasteners at the G-lader tubes a drop of oilspray to keep them nice and tight and fully secure. every couple of mothss I take out the airfilter and spark plugs and inspect. That is bacically it. I'd say that Mchuiars are very expensive but surely good. Cheers, Redfox.

At some point in time, you will feel the itching in your fingers to do some tlc and start it up again ;) I have that feeling witm my old Laverda motorcycle, and it's like coming home every spring. Changed the fuelfilter, fuellines, oil, plug, filter, coolant, flushed the coolant system, and got some new better clips on it all. About time, as the Corrado just began to smell of petrol, and the fuellines were completely and utterly rotten from the inside. The day before I got it rolled, and it being a standard engine I am well satisfied with 177 Hp and 228 Nm. Cheers, Redfox.

yes, I agree than VW with their policy these days, no longer deserves the enormous loyalty their customers show. If I go and ask for a 30 year old little part for a Porsche, I can get it. And it's a small company. Imagine what happens to Volvo now that it's on chinese hands. And Saab gone with the wind. For an old Saab, you could get even the smallest part. I don't think we'll see many stories in the future similar to those of the very nice P1800, as that way of thinking from a company is simply getting extinct, and the shareholders (us) scream for maximum profit on our small savings investments. Greed does not exactly help the prolongation of spares to a P1800 or a Corrado. I just took a good look in a panel manufactures catalogue and here I can see most panels for a VW 1300, but nil, zero, nothing, rien, for a Corrado. Never made. I guess a prestige car like the Corrado was, is only prestige until the next eyecatcher comes around. Next bling bling. Marketing has some things to say here too, as they develop the buy and throw away mentality! So, when VW announced the Corrado in 1988 it was certainly a special car (in more than one way). I think one thing that upholds the Corrado is a strong forum like this, where people really do something to help eachother out with spares, advice and so on. I guess it's the way the world goes, and what we deserves, as the vast majority don't care about such things, as long as they get their daily amount of tv-entertainment and beer. A bit sad. Well, the sun is shining, and I am going to do some tlc jobs on the Corrado anyway. Who gives a s..t about tv anyway? Cheers, Redfox.

You are on to something there DriverVR6, because I have read tests of spark plugr for my Laverda (motorcycle) that shows that a single electrode plug make better power. But to ensure this, you have to mark the gap of it on top of the whole spark plug. This ensures that you, when your drive it down and fasten it, can know how it is turned, where the gab is pointing. This should be pointing towards the inletvalve. This may also mean that you have to but a lot of plugs to ensure this. I do it and it seems to work - more Hp - more fun. Cheers, Redfox.

Hi all, Spent some quality time meccin' on the Corrado all of today. I have looked through the whole fuel system, and changed all the little clamps and clips to something better and more stable. Stainless and will never let go. 5 GBP a piece so they should be so ;) Then I've changed the fuelfilter and all the fuel lines. Good it never happened. I could smell petrol the other day, and ordered the parts. So as it has been written several places in here, CHANGE THOSE FUELLINES NOW!!! Thanks a lot to those of you in here, who spread their knowledge for the rest of us!!!!! :thumbleft: Then I went to change the radiator neck, before it eventually broke down. Will want one of Daves aluminium ones as soon as he finish some ;) Then I emptied the coolersystem, flushed it well, and added new G12 and demineralized (or whatever it's called) water. Then I looked at the pressure hoses for the G-lader, and found an error, and then changed all the clamps for some much better ones which are wider, thicker, and holds much much better. At 12 GBP a piece they should ;) That was a hard price for a thing like that. But it secures the pressure system a lot better = more Hp and less prone to errors. Then I drained the oil (done 3700 Km) and added new 5W-40 fully synt. from a reputable maker, and a new OEM oilfilter plus a new oem drainplug and sealing. Then I looked over the gearbox end cap bolts etc, and tightened them up a bit. Corrected some lines underneath and that was the day. Drives like a rocket and feels very planted. Well chuffed when no less than 5 individuals commented the Corrado very positively today and yesterday during the service and rolling test. Something for the ego. Okay, while waiting for some spares, I went to roll the Corrado today. It took quite some time, at he was very meticulous. The ignition was spot on, and not too forward. The CO was a bit lean, and it was therefore adjusted to be absolutely perfect. So rolled it and being a stock standard motor, I have 177 Hp and 228 Nm. Very satisfied :dance: The little CO adjustment made it a bit quicker on the throttle. He told me that the rolling testbench is set up very conservative, and no cheap cheating with funny temp's to make it look like it have more power etc. Cheers, Hpredfox.
