  1. Wow, truth really is stranger than fiction. Spooky.
  2. Ronan what you say about getting new pistons & rods etc really sounds like a lot of work (but cool cos I didn't know you could build the 1.8 16v up like that). A bit intimidating though as I don't know a lot about engines & I don't really know anybody yet who does so I think a straight engine swap is what i'll end up going for as it should be the most straight-forward. LowG what exactly does forced induction entail? Same kinda thing that Ronan mentioned I guess? On another point, I don't know how daft this question this is but whats the diff between the Audi TT 1.8T (225hp) engine and the Audi S3 1.8T (225hp) engine. Or is there none ?
  3. Don't like them, makes the Corrado look like a mouse. Stick a tail on the back and you'd not know the diff.
  4. Very tempting Stan, but I think it'd be safer for me to source an engine locally. I don't want to rush into anything either - I'm biding my time before buying unless I get too excited of course! What would be easiest of conversions between the 1.8T and the 24v V6 ? Taking everything into consideration? Price especially. A 24v V6 does have a nice ring to it...
  5. Thanks for the replies you lot :) The 1.8T does sound pretty appealing so got another couple of quick questions for you. What's the average hp be for it? (before mods) Which cars are the 1.8T engines used in & is there any difference in them? What else would need changed in my Corrado if I went with the 1.8T? (Brakes, gearbox etc) Stanbates, that link that you posted says 4.5k for the conversion, but I'm giving myself a budget of 4k so would you think it's still possible?
  6. Hi guys I have a 1.8 16v & need some expert knowledge here. Say you have a 4k budget and you definately want to keep the Corrado you currently have but want to put a more powerful engine in it within the next 12-18 months. (And don't say just sell it & buy a VR6. Selling it is not an option). Which engine would you go for bearing in mind all the other things that may need replaced along with it (brakes, gearbox etc etc) Also take into consideration the approximate cost of getting it installed as I couldn't do it myself. I would be looking to have a minimum 200bhp & preferably an engine that has suitable grunt to to along with it. I know some people will think I'm crackers for not just selling the Corrado I have and buying a car with a bigger engine, but my lil Corrado is one of the cleanest out there and I love it to pieces. So it's not gonna happen! 4k (inc labor costs) 200bhp minimum Nice grunt noise is a bonus  All opinions greatly appreciated! :)
  7. If you need to keep the side strips on the car you could always just get them colour coded.
  8. Diesel Saxo 55-60 mpg Get them for less than a grand too.
  9. Id say weighing up the pros and cons its better to have it taken for that drive every 2-3 weeks. It'll help things like the brakes not siezing up (unless you put her up on bricks and remove wheels, brakes etc) If its safe to do so you should keep one of the windows slightly open too to keep it nice n fresh.
  10. If you're driving straight without sitting about in traffic jams/lights etc the temp should be a steady 90. If it's not you maybe need to give the system a flush with nice new coolant. Could be really old stuff you got in there.
  11. The mod is the little sticker on the sunroof glass :)
  12. Nice pics - what type of alloys are they?
  13. Corrados always seem to look a lot better moving than sitting stationary. Sweet looking C big
  14. Cheers VR6, .. one other thing though for anyone who knows.. Should the bottom hose comming from the radiator not heat up as quickly as the top hose? My bottom hose is staying quite cool compared to the top one...is this a sign of an air lock?
  15. What temp should the water be at on a normal run ? About 90 degress odds? And how about when idleing ?
  16. My Corrados fan is blowing out luke warm/cold air even with the sldey control being pushed all the way to hot. This is the case when driving and or just ideling. You CAN get hot air but it only lasts for less than a minute. If i push the slidey lever all the way to the left (cold side) then I can hear the little flap in behind the dash moving, however when i push it all the way to the right (hot side) it does seem a little easier to push and i don't hear the flap in behind moving. Is that the way it should be? I changed the coolant last Monday and the heater has been working fine until today. (so i don't think its cos of the coolant change...just a coincidence) Plus one other thing....dont know how relevant it is..... if you turn the heater fan off for a minute or 2 and then turn it on again you get hot air.....again only lasts for less than a minute though. Can anyone help ? I really want my hot air back!
  17. Hmmm - interesting. Gonna stick with the grease me thinks.
  18. And when you do manage to get it working again, make sure you lube it with grease every couple of months.
  19. Nice info, thanks - I'll get cracking with that on Monday. :pirate:
  20. Yeah same here - velcro or that white, double sided foamy stuff.
  21. Have done a search on changing the coolant, but still unclear on a few points 1. Does the 1.8 16v have a drain plug on the bottom of the radiator? 2. Should the coolant be poured through the expansion tank or the top radiator hose? 3. Is it G11 coolant I use or G12? 8) Cheers, any help appreciated
  22. You planning on getting a brand new engine or a 2nd hand one Reaper?
