Absolute nightmare - luckily did mine when rear axle was off. Bolts corrode into the valve itself so very unlikely you can get off in situ. Also had to replace brake lines as well 'cos they corrode. Good thing is once done should be ok for years - mind you new one wasn't cheap either!!!

Well worth it - looks like it's only the rack and subframe you've not done so far.

+2 for Gliptone - also use it on TT and 80 Cabriolet and can't really fault it, does bring back the suppleness and also the leather smell.

Adi Thanks for the reply, but I wanted a used bonnet already painted. I've got one on the car at the moment that's flat like yours, so could get that painted if I can't find one. Tim.

It's not just me then!! This is one thing that gets my goat - I always think they do it deliberately 'cos the bolsters are worn but why not be honest?

Thanks for the replies, but I don't think I was clear enough - the bit I need clips to the inner wing so that the bolts mentioned above go through the outer wing to fasten together. Thanks.

Anyone got or know where I can find a speed nut which fastens the front wings to the body along the top edge? Can't find a part number on Vagcat. I presume VW dealer would be able to get one, just seems along way to go to collect one.

Nothing ventured nothing gained!! My Bolsters are spot on, but my brother has a pair of Corrado seats to fit into a polo, with the usual soft bolsters on drivers side. For the price of a passenger seat from a mk3 gti, I'm going to see whether it can be done - just need a seat now! Will let you know how I get on.

Like I said, not 100% certain but don't they flare out more because of the seat frame itself? Looking on Vagcat the part nos. seem to be the same apart from the prefix for Golf or Corrado? Also thought very late mk2 Golf gti seats had similar bolsters?

Not 100% sure but I think that the bolsters on a MK3 Golf Gti are the same, so to repair a drivers seat on a Corrado you could dismantle a Golf passenger seat and use the bolsters. As said previously, the back rest can also be used, but not the cloth.

Strange - my disc shield is on top of the stub axle, but there is what seems like large washer partly covering the stub axle bolts - this is actually part of the stub axle, and I have had to bend it slightly to clear the bolts so I can then remove the stub axle. Problem is the shield and stub axle will not then separate due to the "washer" part of the stub axle.

Not looked closely yet, but just wondered how the rear stub axle and disc dust shield on a VR6 are separated? Seems that there is metal ring which is part of the stub axle and it covers the bolts so the stub axle can't be removed? That can't be right though can it? Perhaps need to wait till morning and have a better look

I've got one that's been sat in a drawer for years - nice bright red, only problem is one of the mounting lugs is missing. Also got the rear supercharged badge, not quite as clean and the s is detached. No good either of them to me, and I wouldn't want anywhere near the ebay prices - make me can offer if you're interested? Tim.
