    Water spray

i've used menthol in my water injections for years and it hasn't done any damage. the alcohol in the water evaporates super quick taking lots of energy with it.
  2. yeah the car went very quiet. . really quiet. only drove the car for about 3 miles. and very slowly. still managed to do damage. i have used a soild tensioner from the begining. and darrens belts. we think a a stone got under the belt and snapped it. as it had a clean cut throu. i've now gone back to the the std air box. and the induction is so much quieter. lovely.
  3. tooth belts make a hell of a racket. a constant whine. cool at first. but also the belts are not as strong. mine snapped after 6 months and caused the engine to overheat. cracking a piston in half.!!. keep the normal belt get at least a 68 or even a 65 pulley. sns stg5 chip charger rebuild. taking the engine out is easy. save some money on labour. speak to darren look at a bottom end rebuild and hone etc, a cnc head. full service- water pump. oil pump . also look at a bigger intercooler and ask darren about his 4 branch manifold. . all af that lot will see 240bhp and loads of torque. a monster. oh and dont bother drilling the air box. just a normal filter in it will serve over 260bhp.! i love the 8v g60. good 'little' simple engines. easy to work on. remember torque is the key to a quick car. and that's what makes this engine so much fun.
  4. my cars not running still. but managed to get up in the misses mk5. i've got no compression in cylinder 3. very chessed. off. but i did managed to get a mot for it. had to beg and convince him that i'm getting it sorted asap. may have to take the head off. again.
  5. if you use your washer bottle as the reserve. instantly a gallon of water with no extra weight. . just tap fittings in the bottom. easy. also a point to remember is the pre rad has to be big enough to disperse the heat. so it should be as big as possible. not an oil cooler. a celica chargecooler rad 'just' fits behind the bumper. a rad designed to cool chargecooler water. and cheap.
  6. thats my old rad. small world ah.!
  7. put a socket on em wack em in with a hammer.
  8. installing dzzy is a peaise of pi55. check out where the number one notch is. remove dizz. put in new one. after a litttle oil on the seal. put lead back on. best to solder the broken one. or if it has broken on the connector, go to brakers. find any digifant car. cut wires off new connector. solder the shrink wrap connectors. fire up car. get warm. turn dizzy till you get a good idle. go test. yippie
  9. yes the dizzy gets stuck . remove the bolt and plate. turn the engine over this should loosen it. dont try to bash it off.you could damage the hallsender,
  10. try this http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... ght=timing
  11. you'll have to speak to mark at M A DEVELOPMENTS. his the daddy at mapping cossies.. my friends currently running 600+ bhp plus 200 shot of nos, crazy http://www.geocities.com/rtarry_uk/
  12. it only counts when you've lost 2/3rd of the skin from your knuckles. i'ts always the same. i sold my oe vr6 rad on ebay less than 10 days ago. for £35 delivered
  13. plug one is on the left. timing light down on the crank pully if you cant see it line up tdc of the flywheel. put a bit of tipex on both the pully and the marker o the engine side. 'Is it 6 deg btdc @ 2K RPM with the temp sender disconnected?' sound right to me. or is it 8' btdc..? if in doute http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... ght=timing
  14. that was sooo funny, again thank you ant for helping out. and setting fire to your self.
  15. you need them on your spec. but on the g-lader. too big. you wont be able to use any off shelf chips. it''ll be custom only. adding to your co.st
  16. 440cc injectors. way too big for g60. red tops are only 305cc. grey injectors 325cc.. oh air box emm. get a black hose and plastic tubing. it'll lo ok oe.
  17. you lucky son of a bit@h. you were spot on. i really couldn't belive it. a bit cheesed off having to take the head off again.- now have 2 sets of scabs on my arms from the exhaust nuts. blimin things. but to see the valves open by 5mm each even thou off cam. we removed the cam and they all shut. put a std cam in and they opened up again, either the heads not put to gether correctly or the lifter are shot. after 8k.?
  18. no lifter were free. well i think. they all span freely and returned ok. the heads gone back to a well known company. i shall let you all know the out come how do you rebuild them.? and how long do they last, ?these where vag ones 8k ago. and some are a bit spongy when pressed. others are rock hard. odd.

    new head

@ g60bv, the charger bracket doesn't attach to the head it attaches to the block and the G60 alternator bracket bolts onto the head in the same place as on the normal 8v head. it's been a while since i looked at a gti head. thanks for clearing that up.
  20. we wipped the head off. found the valves staying open. but only when the cam is in. odd. giving no compression at all. f*@~~##~:@^$
  21. well this is it. it MUST ignite something. it must be a fueling thing.? i can smell fuel. i 'm going to take the plugs out tomoz and crank it over. see if i can get fuel out.. maybe hold a lighter by the plug hole. hehe althou when i was taking the head off. i just rolled the alterternator over. and managed to to catch a screwdriver on the live across to the charger. i have checked all the fuses. all ok. could it have spiked the ecu.???
  22. i have checked wiring. all looks to be there. althou i could be missing something do you have to 'prime' the fuel rail. ? i have checked all the earths. . i'll cheak it all again tomoz after a good nights sleep. tomoz i will check fuel. and sparks again. oh and the blue cts. coolent temp senor. - guessing. ?.

    new head

i think there is a difference on the gti heads. cos it needs the brakets for the alternator and charger. i also have a head for sale. ported and polished by keith from rpm. and 35mm exhaust valves. £450
  24. erm. no haven't checked. havent got a compression tester. but when i was taking the head off. it did manage to catch the back of the alternator on the charger. a brief spark-bang. i've checked all the fuses all ok. why wouldn't i have compression..?. the engine was fine before the work.
  25. i'm a little cheesed off. fitted new head. put everything back on. checked timing a million times. set up cam and dizzy as off the fly wheel. got spark. but no bang.. i'm pretty sure i've got fuel. as after cranking it for 30 seconds you can smell fuel in the garage. really fed up.. is there any one here how could do a hime visit. i have tea and biscuits for any one willing. i'm in redhill.
