  1. I'm so glad I didn't buy a solid front mount :)
  2. The 9A system is KE-Motronic. It's adjustable to a point.

lol...I'm psychic. I'm afraid if you want to balls up the fine balance that is your air/fuel ratio you're going to have to think again. Those resistor things are for cars with electronically-controlled fueling...something your K-jet powered 16v isn't equipped with! There are other ways you can achieve similar results with your mechanical injection though, if you must. The most popular method is known as the WUR (warm-up regulator) mod. There's plenty of information regarding the WUR mod on the forum available via the search function. Take a look at flusted's 16v tuning guide for a start.

You're not planning to fit one of those daft eBay-special resistor things by any chance are you?
  5. I have access to a VW parts database called ETOS. I'm not sure of the difference between ETOS and the alternative 'ETKA'. The ETOS database that I use covers all VW models up to 2005 and contains exploded diagrans of just about all (if not all) of the entire car. You're right about it being a handy resource though. I'll be surprised if the leak is coming from one of the screws to be honest, but I guess anything's possible.
  6. You can buy just the housing if necessary - it's about £35-40 from the dealer. The three screws are there to secure a big, green O-ring in place and they only need to come undone slightly to allow quite a sizable fuel leak from the O-ring seal. It's quite common for that to happen as they screw straight into the plastic with a very coarse thread. I would (and have in the past) have a go at tightening them before you invest in a new housing...unless you're feeling rich! The three screws are likely to be rusted to buggery though.
  7. I started riding on a TS50X when I was 16 and worked up to the litre-class over about five years. Consequently I've never had to deal with massive power increases between bikes. I don't believe that I would have been any more reckless if I'd started riding on a CB500 over a CBR600 though. Plenty of my mates have got into bikes over the years and several have started on bikes such as ZX-6Rs with no problems (other than insurance). Sometimes having too little power is just as dangerous. A 1998 ZX-6R, for instance, is not going to pull your arms off by any stretch of the imagination!
  8. If you've got a fuel problem with a 2.0 16v you're pretty screwed without the right tools, i.e. a fuel pressure test kit and an exhaust gas analyser. Keep us informed chap. I'll be interested to know what's causing the problem.
  9. Bonus! Can you describe what you meant by 'slowly dropping revs'? I know it's difficult to describe these things but I'm interested to know how bad the problem was.
  10. Yeah, suspension settles after a short while.
  11. You won't regret it! The direct access licence is your best bet for sure. For the record the Cagiva Mito is made of cheese, like all of the hot-snot 125s. If you plan to use the bike for more than the odd weekend, and you're not confident in your ability to rebuild a two-stroke, I'd avoid the RS250 as well. They're getting on a bit now and two-strokes aren't generally maintained as well as they demand. If you're not in a position to pay £700 quid for insurance the 400 class is probably for you. If you can bite the insurance bullet for a year or so then you can do worse than a CBR600 from the mid-'90s. They're legendary, plentiful and affordable. Get it done...the summer's on the way...
  12. Mine goes up at exactly 50mph indicated. I've always considered it odd but never bothered to look into it. I consider myself fortunate that it works at all.
  13. lol...the Corrado IS my winter sh1tter...and my spring sh1tter...and my summer sh1tter...you get the idea.
  14. White plugs, as you probably know, are a sign of running lean. I was under the impression that failed Lambda probes normally cause over-fueling, although that may be wrong. The 1.8 16v pretty much is :)
  15. I know that conley_crew (or whatever his name was) drove one. That can't be a good thing! Congratulations with respect to the interview though chap :)
  16. Yeah, granted, the UK isn't the best place to be if you're relying on the weather! The need to transport a lot of stuff would render the pushy useless also, like you say. Could you not just use the Corrado on wet days or when you need to take a lot of stuff with you? Or is that likely to be more often than not?
  17. How about a push bike? I'm saving a bundle by using the pushy for local transport and it's actually quite pleasant in the summer.
  18. Cheers for that, especially the patronising wink! I'm well aware that the ISV is unrelated to the ignition timing. The comment about the timing was nothing more than a thought that sprang to mind whilst considering other possible causes. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The ISV advice is still valid though so, for that, I thank you. Jim, my throttle cable is only a few months old. I'm pretty sure that the car's running properly to be honest and the 'holding on to revs' thing is only in comparison to other more modern cars. I haven't ever driven another 1.8 16v to compare. I don't really find it to be a problem so there's a good chance that colinstubbs's problem is more pronounced.
  19. Im Glad it met your expectations. These kits have surpassed all my expectations also. lol...I should take this opportunity to credit Darren for the recommendation. My only gripe is that the rear spring platform needs to be altered by one position from the factory setting to maintain a level ride height. Mine's sitting a bit high at the rear right now! I reckon it can be adjusted without removing the struts but we'll see.
  20. What colour is 'pretty good'? The place to start with a 2.0 16v is generally an exhaust CO test followed by a fuel pressure test.
  21. That would be Nick_Micouris's car I believe: link to thread. Unfortunately the images were linked and have gone.
  22. Who did the work and what equipment do they have? I'd be inclined to agree with dazzyvr6 and get the alignment checked to be sure.
  23. Can you post a picture of your plugs? Are you sure it's not running lean?
  24. I love those wheels! With respect to the suspension, I've just fitted a Weitec -35mm/0mm kit to my 1.8 16v and I'd say the ride is actually better than it was with the standard suspension. Since it's only slightly lowered I only touch the front spoiler if I come across a particularly steep speed bump. I can recommend the kit and I'm normally very critical of aftermarket suspension.
  25. Isn't that an early bumper on a late Corrado? Just what the man was asking about.
