  1. Christ on a bike. It looks like the engine bay is largely undamaged though. Maybe the engine and gearbox are salvageable after all.
  2. Despite being a 1.8 owner I'd go for the 2.0 given my time again. There's no out and out performance advantage/disadvantage from what I can tell but the 2.0 I used for a few weeks was a lot easier to get on with and did more to the gallon.
  3. The lack of use shouldn't cause a problem to the engine. Your main concern if the car sits unused for long periods are the bushes and suspension rubbers.
  4. The red and yellow wires I was talking about were on the stereo side. What year is your car as it seems you may have the wiring in the car loom already? Who told you that?
  5. If you think the VW community are a close-knit bunch you should take a look at the Land Rover clubs.
  6. I don't believe the Corrado has an accessory position on the ignnition switch so you'll have to take a switched feed from some component that only comes on with the ignition. The heated rear screen is a good candidate. Red: switched 12v Yellow: battery
  7. Yeah, if you'd been doing 130mph you'd have been well clear of that junction before the Mazda got any where near it :)
  8. Looks like it's burning a bit of oil there :)

What ever's written on that piece of paper must be damn interesting. The guy in the white seems somewhat oblivious to what's going on beside him...
  10. I don't think much of the tyre tread pattern!
  11. I had some Kumho tyres (admittedly from the cheapest end of their range) on my last Mk2 Golf and I'd only describe them as dangerous in the wet. I've got a set of 16s for the Corrado running on Marangoni Zetas and they're actually pretty damn good...as are the Hankook K104 tyres on the Sebrings. Not all budget tyres are as bad as the Nankang NSII tyres I had on the 17s in my sig.
  12. Bikers are the same - very fickle. When I was on the R1 everyone gave a nod but when I'm out on the DR-Z hardly anyone on a sportsbike acknowledges me. I don't often wave at other VWs now whilst out in the Corrado due to a lack of response in the past. If I'm in the Land Rover 90 I get a wave from all the other Land Rover drivers.
  13. I couldn't help noticing the word 'corradowskie' in one of those links. Great word-skie :)
  14. ...or sell your 16v and buy a VR6. They appear to be quite cheap these days :)
  15. Some...errr...'interesting' styling there. Each to their own though, eh? Incredible job on the engine bay. Wow.
  16. It's not often that I wish for fame and fortune....but this is one of the times...
  17. RW1...you da' man. I just felt the need to share that.
  18. Some of the pages, especially with respect to the images, are buggy in Firefox. I see what you mean about the site maturity, it's mostly 2004/05 models.
  19. LMFAO :) There are still a few from that bunch that are missing from my collection. Good link all the same.
  20. It'd take it to an engineering company or find a mobile repairer. Helicoiling is cheap enough to leave to someone with all the gear and who's done it before. I think my mate paid £30 to have no.1 cylinder Helicoiled with the head in situ on his Golf VR6.
  21. Season one from 2002? This must be for the facelift show from the aircraft hanger.
  22. My buddy lives on River Road. Mean anything to you?
