I had a right headache getting mine back in. Bearing in mind I had everything painted up and trying not to scratch the servo or the suspension turret. Sweat was lashing off me lol.
-
Yeah the clutch master cylinder gets in the way, forgot I had that removed. I'm sure both nuts for that, along with the clip holding connecting it to the clutch pedal, are inside the car. The servo will come out with that removed.
-
It's just a tight fit and needs a bit of manipulating to get them out and back in. Mine came out no bother with just the 4 nuts removed and it disconnected from the pedal.
-
Getting it turning by hand via the crank pulley would be the best starting point. Take the plugs out and drop a little oil down them. If no moisture has got into the bores then it should be fine. It may be worth pulling the cam cover off and removing camshaft to make sure none of the hydraulic tappets are stuck down. New timing belt would also be advisable. Or you could just hook up a battery with some new fuel and chance your luck lol.

Cheers mate, yeah she's a fair project. Your one will have to sadly sit for a while until this is back up and running! -
Welcome. Can't wait to see it!

You can't beat an engine stand like! Yeah done it myself with 2-pack. No lacquer though as it's not really needed in the bay! -

That's good to know then. It'll be hoisted with a winch which is fixed to the roof. So basically will be rolling the car into the engine and gearbox. Which has worked well in the past but not done with a 4 branch in place. -

Thanks mate! Yeah the ports on the 4 branch are slightly larger and seem to line up well enough once on the studs. -

Couple of snaps of my ill fitting 4 branch. It goes on but it's really tight so not sure if it's suitable. I assume it's warped ever so slightly. I'm wondering if I have it fitted before putting my engine back in the car I'll get it slid through its gap between the subframe and body as it will be a pain to fit afterwards. You can see how it's sits hard on the studs. I've tried heating bits and manipulating it a but which has helped me actually get it on but not ideal. -
I'm sure Elring are the main supplier for VW. I've just fitted their metal head gasket to my G60.

Hi, More updates on the G60. Should be more frequent from now on. Engine bay is coming together. Refurbished every component, anything that is metal has been rust treated, etched primed and painted. Also rewrapped the loom, repairing any damaged wires along the way. Alarm has been completely removed. My bottom end is all been cleaned up and painted. Bores deglazed. New crank and rod bearings. New crank seals and all new gaskets. New piston rings also. All tolerances are good and well within spec. Head has been cleaned, skimmed, new guides, had the valves and the seats re-cut along with new injector seats. I've got a but if pitting round both coolant flanges so will need to sort that out with some chemical metal or something and sand them flush so they seal properly. So all ready to get built back up as have all the new gaskets, new head bolts etc. I also bought this... It came from Alex, forum member Alex_G60_Fanatic. We finally struck a deal. It's not too bad but a little rough round the edges as it's been off the road for around 3 years but it runs well enough despite it not idling very well. One of the rear arches is in a bad way as is the bonnet and one of the wings. I'm not planning on breaking it but I need a few bits off it for mine so will probably do something with once mine is back on the road. I don't need anything from the engine anyway and it has a few good bits I don't need either. It does have a set of KW V1's which will likely find their way onto mine. Couple of other parts that came with it. Powerflow full stainless exhaust. Also has a 4 branch which after offering it upto my head one of the ports appear slightly off but i'm sure it can be manipulated back into shape. So that's it for now. Should see some more updates coming thick and fast! -
Whats the weirdest thing you've carried in your 'rado?

Two heavily pregnant woman, both of which had nothing to do with me lol. -
However some scientists postulate that the speed of light is relative to the observer. So the speed of light is the same regardless of the speed of the observer so you would never catch it up. Which opens up a whole new dimension into how reality is perceived by man.

Ah gutted, was going to buy this tonight. Oh well, hit me up if the deal doesn't go through! -
Bullets have their own oxidiser so no need for an oxygen source.

You won't hear a fart in space unfortunately. Without any atmosphere your ears won't pick up noise. The fart itself, depending on its aggressiveness may well propel you the 10 meters into Chris Fuzzer for some cuddle kiss time if you're lucky!! In regards to the gun, well it depends where you are in space. In deep space your already going to be travelling faster than a bullet but the likelihood it'll continue to travel until it hits something. You fire a gun on the moon however, it'll remain in orbit of the moon until it hits something. travelling all the way round the moon and hitting you in either bum cheek is very plausible. I hope this helps!!

Could be interested in this. When would be a good time to have a look mate? -
If it's burning it on over run then the likely hood the valve stem seal are worn, probably due to worn exhaust valve guides. Common problem with old VR6 engines. So to repair properly would require the head off, guides replaced and valve seats re-cut. And possibly new valves if they are out of spec.

On my Corrado, part of the alarm (the box that feeds the motion sensors) was stuck to the spoiler control module with double sided tape. Sits behind dash near where manual spoiler switch is located. May have been disturbed when removing old alarm.

I bought this one a couple of years ago and has served we well although there are cheaper kits available. The round cylinders really help when pressing the bearing out. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/23Pc-Front-Wheel-Drive-Bearing-Removal-Installation-Tool-Kit-UK-/201908763630?hash=item2f02b33bee:g:UtwAAOSw~bFWMyBT

You're also better off investing in a bearing press tool kit as it makes life so much easier, and safer.

Become friendly with your local motor factors and forget these ECP, GSF and TPS guys. You'll get much better service, be able to source most parts and the prices will be cheap 7 days a week and not just at the weekends.

Some parts I need to complete my G60 project. The list will likely be added too as time goes on. All parts must be reasonably priced. I need a bit of slack on price as I have spent so much building my engine and down to the bare bones at the moment. Power steering pipes (Specifically the high pressure one from pump to rack). Starter Motor Bolt. (The long one that screws into engine mount). OS Headlamp Glass (Early type) De-cat pipe.

35 and had my G60 since the beginning of 2014. Think all the young ones are on Facebook these days. Us oldies understand the importance of the forums.
