Kev, I tried to reply last week but my server was down. Not on the VR6, but have had similar sounding rough running on my 16V which turned out to be a duff plug - fouled up at low revs but cleared when it was booted; showed up by pulling the leads. Can't think of anything else since you have been there already.

golden opportunity for the old 'let me help you out of those wet things before you catch a cold' routine :D

Nice photo edit Jim. With u on the speedlines. Just got my new Konis today but don't know when I'll get round to putting them on & getting the wheels tarted up
-
 Sorry. Was just thinking back to when I had to do the 16V and didn't pay enough attention to what u drive (I'll look at the 6 properly later) Hangs head in shame Glad you've sorted it tho'

Rats, bloomin server just lost my post. Yes Tom, great idea. I think my vote went in but I'd have 4. I prefer the italic look, Darren's looks good on the car. I think the vag font looks too square (no jokes about heads  ) But happy to go with majority or whatever u decide
-
Daz, they look the biz m8. I always meant to refurb my speedlines, but the b4 & after photos are makin me think about it....'cept I know I'd hate cleaning them

Lookin good Jimmay When can we all come over for the w/e?
-
Andi, I buy lots of stuff from them so they love me  Actually I was pretty upset with it coming apart so I rang them up to moan. They didn't have one in but ordered it. That was on 2 May & I hadn't been in since then (I used the one off the 16V in the meantime   )

John, Great to meet you on Sunday - have yet to open the box!. How did u do? I missed the results. Also didn't see this b4 now as took some time out the office. Re the post problem - do the boxes have product labels? possible some naughty person is lifting them?
-
Scott, it doesnt. You have to pull it back up by hand(!). You say clutch master cyl - do you mean that or the slave cyl on top of the gearbox? The master cyl on the bulkhead is a single unit that feeds both brakes and clutch. Can't remember where my notes are, but if I remember rightly (and its the slave cyl): Get a mate to help, open the bleed nipple, push pedal down, close nipple, pull pedal up. Repeat as necessary. BUT, the master cyl outlet for the clutch is situated towards the top of the reservoir so make sure the level doesn't fall below this while bleeding or you will suck air in to the clutch line. hth

Premature wear - yes. I've had the new set up on since 8 Mar and the drivers side blade started to split on 2 May. Not impressed with a 2 mth life, especially since its been dry most of the time, but my dealer gave me a new one foc when I was in yesterday. Don't know whether this is indicative of them being poor quality overall or this is just a one off. Anyone else?

Who's going up to inters on Friday night??????
2cc replied to Banana Man's topic in General Car Chat
haven't worked out the trip yet but will definitely be there b4 then -
Ouch. Chris, are those security plates on the door handle? Any chance of a close up photo? What do u think of them? I've not seen em on a rado b4 & thought they might look crap

Tom, the part of the likage into which the ball fits - ie the arm with the hole in - should have a nylon(?) bush/receptacle in it (a press fit into the arm) and the ball is a really snug fit into this. Sounds like that may have fallen to bits and disappeared allowing the ball to become detached. I don't know whether vw do the nylon fitting as a spare part - knowing them they will try to sell you the complete linkage

Hi chuck, my 16V height (centre of wheel [as near as I can tell] to wheel arch lip) on original wheels and standard oe suspension is: front 365mm; rear 354mm.
-
Fuse info is also printed(?) on the underside of the fuse box parcel shelf
-
OK Ant, no worries. (I think one of my posts on this seems to have got lost) I'm taking friday off as well so can try & link up somewhere on the way.
-
Just because they can. Seriously tho', the fuse will only blow if it is subjected to a current drain greater than its rating. The bulb filaments burning out won't usually pull enough current for long enough to take the fuse with them.

Have to say its the square lights and bonnet line that do it for me on the C. Easy to spot each other at high closing speeds :D Great ideas tho' Jim, when are you applying for a job with their design dept?
-
Anyone remember the Jag 220 test? Bloke stuffed it into 2nd at full chat and blew it to buggery. Could it be him again? :D

Hi bigpants baby. As far as I recall last time I had the door apart all my window switches have 6 connections, but some of them will carry more than one wire eg some feed across from drivers to pass side. Did u actually check the old switch or just count the wires going into the door? What u drivin? I'm often in/around Bath so may have flashed u  somewhere
-
Ant, Tents are sorted m8. I've got a couple of one mans booked (put em up last evening to check 'em out) - so best let me know if you think you're gonna be lucky enough to be needing more space   Why not put your car on the stand then u can go walkabout ha ha ha
