Do I sense a story here Kev? :D I'd be thinking relay hold on supply since fuses and stalks've been checked
-
Well done m8, glad to hear that. cu at pod then :D

Hi Skye, Working from memory here but.. The fuse box has a plastic suspension pivot on each side. These locate into vertical (almost) slots cut into the two sheet steel carriage plates. The plastic clips both need to come off to allow removal of the fuse box; they are basically there to provide some lateral pressure to stop the fuse box dropping onto your feet when you are bouncing down the road. One of them pulls out quite easily; the other one (I think the onw you photoed) is a bit more interesting. It has a small peg on its outer face which locates into a hole on the carriage plate so you have to push the top part of the clip in towards the fuse box so that the peg clears and you can then pull the clip off. You will then be able to lift the box away from the plates. Hope that makes sense. It will once you get it apart. You will find that the cabling is all pretty tight though so you still don't get a lot of space to work in. HTH Chris

Dex I gotta admire you for admitting it (actually I've been known to do that sort of thing myself on occasion  ) Joe, No. That's not the case. The alarm control unit will either be wired to control the cent locking or it won't be - ie you'd have to lock the car with the key and set the alarm with the remote; this then typically arms an engine immobiliser and will sound the siren if the car is opened. Different alarms will give you different refinements and options - the more you pay the more you can have. The re-sync function is just a way to get the remote and the control unit to recognise each other if for example you have disconnected the battery rather than trashed the remote (sorry Dex :D ) £90 is outrageous

Glad to see I'm not alone in my dislike of this - just doesn't do it for me
-
Hey Ant you just having no luck at all lately. You going to be in one piece for pod? Did you get the down pipe sorted?
-
  Chris, glad you're OK but I'm gutted for you mate. I can't disagree with the thoughts on the damage, but remember 007 and never say die, there might be something out there with the back stove in. Guess you won't really know how bent it is till the garage have had a good look at it. Fingers are crossed for you

£24 for reprogramming remotes? The instruction manuals with my Scorpion gives a button sequence to re-sync the remotes with the main unit. Dex - stating the obvious but have you checked the battery?

Aw shucks Jim, now I'm all embarassed. Actually too many front end paint chips to be showroom, but I am impressed with the results :D
-
Hi Stephen, I wouldn't bother about it. Both mine have various 'spare' wires, plugs etc back there which I assume to be for options not fitted to the car - and everything works
-
Hi Couzens, I'm over at Corsham, Wilts which isn't far away. PM me to discuss

That's a great post Kev, a candidate for the proposed 'how to' section. Touch wood my cables all work nicely; as you suggest I always turn the fan off before changing the flow direction as there can be quite a bit of pressure in there.
-
Jim, cheers buddy, I'll have a good look at it a bit later
-
That's a definite. Time to give the 16v an outing. Bit off course for me Ant, I'll see you all up there.
-
From the description I'd be more inclined to suspect this was a voltage regulator problem in the MFA/inst cluster. I haven't any wiring detail info so can't offer any help with it, just a thought
-
long drive tho' Kev
-
Hi guys, V sorry to hear of your collective problems. Gringo, compared to your day mine pales into insignificance :) At least you know where to go to get the money for repairs Beetlebug. I got the 16v back yesterday & she's right on song, had her since 92 and just love her (and the vr) too much to sell. It's kind of like a harem - you just have to share it out
-
does this mean i'm gonna be in the weeds at 'pod Ant?

I think Mike was referring to the Konis Kev :) But I don't like this thread coz now I'm going to be paranoid about it happening to me
-
I've had fun with this on both mine. Lets just say the circuitry is a bit girly and prone to do different thing different days; long as it works when its connected
-
Presume your clutch is releasing fully - before you start on the linkages?
-
That's a good result. The same thought is in the back of my mind but there always seems to be something else I need to spend my money on first. Ho hum.
