  1. Watch this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0412080/ and you will be motivated, and no longer feel old.
  2. A skin which hides rust very well and if moisture gets in keeps it there. Although to be fair, I would say the underseal used by VW/Karmann is of very good quality.
  3. I had a few blistered bits on the underside of mine - all sorted now, plus the ribbed section of the floor at the front, just behind the sill seam was rotten on both sides on mine. I cut that out and welded in repair peices. The underside of the sill where the front wings bolt on was pretty bad, so again more cutting out, making repair parts and welding them in. Luckily for me, in a previous life I did bodywork for a living so have some experience and lots of tools, so I can do it myself and keep costs down. I also was lucky enough to be given a 3/4 full 25 litre drum of cavity wax, which when mixed with solvent for spraying makes about 50 litres. Over the last year and a half it has had about 15 litres of waxoyl pumped into every orifice.
  4. I'm 35 and 4 years ago I sold my Corrado and bought a Mk4 Golf GTI 1.8t, I had it remapped, lowered it, put nice wheels on it-loads of stuff. For two years I was miserable and missing the Corrado, which I managed to buy back. Now I have both, and I'm happy with both. The Golf is faster (K03s, Turbo back exhaust, FMIC and around 230bhp), it is more comfortable, has heated seats, climate control, cruise control, everything I need, but it cannot put a grin on my face like the Corrado does. My Corrado will never be sold again. Keep the Corrado, and if you want something newer buy a normal car as a run around, like a non Turbo mk4.
  5. You say you want to roll your arches becaise they are rusty... Usually people roll them to provide more clearance for lowered cars and larger wheels. I assume your plan is to hide the rust. If you get away with rolling them to hide the rust, it will only be a short term solution, because rust spreads. Personaly I'd say get the rust repaired properly. For rolling I'd recommend getting it done by a proffesional if you are not experienced in bodywork.
  6. I have a KR head on my 9a. Both are interchangable, except one of the 2 locating dowels to the rear of engine is in a different place. I knocked the dowel out and it fitted fine.
  7. To be honest, any car is welcome, but due to its nature most turn up VWs and the occasional Audi. What happens? Mostly we all have a chat, just a good social thing really. Come along and see for yourself, most people end up coming back, so it can't be that bad :) You'll get lots of advice and technical help if you need it too.
  8. The only way to repair the wing is to cut out the bad metal and weld in new. I've done this on both my front wings. Be warned the paint in the surrounding areas will be burned, so a prep and painting will be required after.
  9. How can anybody hate a C??? The girls talk about girly things like ironing, cooking, cleaning etc, so she wouldn't have to tallk about cars ;)
  10. Cool, the more the merrier. There is a good bunch of "core" members who are always there, and always a few Mk2 and Mk3 Golfs. If you can pursuade her, bring the misses too. Mine always comes along, and so do a few others. I live in Burnham-on-Crouch.
  11. Up until the last meet, it was held at the Dick Turpin on the A127, but we are trying different venues. It's a good freindly meet. I usually bring my Corrado, and one of the others has 2 Corrado's, would love to see a few more there... Keep an eye on this thread: http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=109
  12. Cool, you should come along to the Club GTI Essex meet.
  13. I have a 16v Corrado and one of the other regulars owns G60 and 20v Turbo Corrados. For me it would be the Corrado over the Golf. I've had a Mk1 Golf GTI, Mk2 Golf GTI and I own a Mk4 Golf GTI, none of them compare to the Corrado for me. Given the choice I'd go for the VR6.
  14. I was reading this thinking yes I'm having this problem too, having logged on 3 times in the last few minutes. I went to reply and I was logged out!
  15. As long as it inserts into a the VR6 airbox and fixes with two screws, we have a deal:) Please PM your payment details (paypal if possible), and I will sent you my address.
  16. As per title, I need a MAF pipe that screws to a standard VR6 airbox. Only required to make the connection between airbox and manifold intake hose, so the MAF is not required, although it would be usefull to have a non working one to block up the hole!
  17. Where did you buy the elbow from? Anywhere online, or dealership? Did it come complete with the two O rings? I'm converting my 9a to Megasquirt using ABF parts, and my fuel rail is missing both elbows.
  18. From what I have read for power and safe running 12.5:1 seems to be the ideal for a normaly aspirated engine at full throttle. Part throttle it is using the closed loop lambda system and constantly fluctuating between about 14.5:1 and 15.1:1.
  19. I very nice car. Mines a 9a which I rebuilt last year. Spec is: 2008cc IIRC (0.5mm rebore) New pistons to suit re-bore. Skimmed block purely for gasket sealing. Man in the shed head. KR spec cams. 42mm inlet tidied up internaly by me. Std manifold, again tiedied internaly by me. Magnex cat back exhuast with std cat. Lightened flywheel. Modded air box. Jetex panel filter. Tweeked original Ke-Motronic injection after alot of research and the addition of a wideband AFR gauge. According to the gauge I am now getting and AFR at full throttle ranging from 11.8 @ 2krpm to 13.2 @6.9krpm. There is a Club GTI national 16v rolling road day on Sunday 24th April, which I will be taking part in, so we will see what it makes then.
  20. Yeah the factory ones are elongated. It's no problem, but thought I'd let others know to save confusion when fitting.
  21. Mine arrived on Friday, and I fitted it on Saturday. Thank-you to Mikki and James, really happy. I had to re-drill 5 new holes along the front to line them up, but all holes on the sides were spot on. So for those yet to fit theirs, I recommend fitting the side bolts first then fit the Steel channel with 5 holes which runs across the front of the car. If the 5 holes are blocked by the spoiler run a 10mm drill through them. The 70mm spoiler is a great compromise between the original VW sizes.
  22. Ok, no worries, please let us know when you have dispatched them :)
  23. As long as the spoiler is satin black, I am happy to have an unpainted one.
